When you look at the technology they utilize, it makes it even harder to understand how Hamas breached their border using some tractors and motorcycles. Even if Israel intelligence didn't see this coming, I don't understand how Hamas was able to physically ingress so far into Israel.

In December 2023, I was part of a team delivering supplies to IDF soldiers at military bases along the Gaza Border. I have military contacts and photos of military equipment I was specially ordered by IDF brass not to share online and I know more than most civilians about the subject. The Air force has F-15s, F15 Strike Eagles, F-16s and F-35s. 3. There's also a Merkava-based APC called Namer. 4. They haven't fought a war since 2006 in south Lebanon, which they lost. Even Operation Cast Lead in 2014 in Gaza wasn't a clear victory. They're a conscript army, many of those serving don't want to be there. Most of the military are reservists who lack regular training and experience. They rely heavily on technology to reduce casualties, more so than Americans, and are extremely sensitive to any casualties they do receive.

Most effiecitive military means they are the most successful. That means having the ability to neturalise life when you need to without expensing a lot of resource. It is important to consider the cost of striking outsiders and the economic opportunties.

The engine on the front won't do much against modern apfsds (kinetic energy munition). In that sense, one can even say that it's a faulty design, as the armor is actually reduced compared to the other western MBTs. However, it is very effective against heat projectiles, including all sorts of rockets, which is very convenient for Israelis as they will be facing lots of RPGs but not any modern western MBTs on the field. It really is designed to be used by Israel and Israel only.
Firstly Merkava has a batle kit design to be attached in the bottom front part if it goes to Battle against modern tanks, upper front has same resilience as other western MBTs. The turret is design so the tank can basically hide exposing it and not much more with many degrees of elevation and depression meaning that the add-on kit is not really that necessary

None of Israels victories were very improbable. Prior to the six day war, all western intelligence agencies were saying that Israel would win within about a week. When you are fighting in the desert the side with the better airforce is going to win every time. 1948 was the only war where Israel was ever in any real danger. And even then they had a significant military advantage throughout, including a numerical advantage in troops.

It was basically a repeat of the 1956 war against Egypt, which for some reason is not remembered as a miracle. The Israelis knew they could take the Golan and the Sinai at any time. Here are some more unstated reasons for the IDF's success.
1. Everyone who is conscripted starts off as a private. No one begins as an officer. All the generals started as privates.
2. One can only move up in rank based solely on merit. All soldiers are taught to think independently to solve situational challenges and think "outside the box".
3. Rank is secondary. All officers are encouraged to listen to subordinates for other ideas. The old concept of "4 heads are better than one".
4. Because the IDF conscripts from the entire eligible population, it has the ability to discern the various skills and talents of their recruits and place them in those forces that best match their intelligence and skill sets.
5. Officers always lead first in a fight. That's why their officer casualty rate is higher than other armies.
6. They have to win because they have no other choice.
The officers run first because this is Israeli combat theory since the days of the Bible. If you want to learn how to fight like an Israeli, open a Bible. Everything is inside. For example, a humanitarian corridor. Why do Israelis leave an opening for the enemy to escape? So that he would have another option than to fight to the death. When you look at the technology they utilize, it makes it even harder to understand how Hamas breached their border using some tractors and motorcycles. Even if Israel intelligence didn't see this coming, I don't understand how Hamas was able to physically ingress so far into Israel.

no, Iron Beam won't remove the need for rocket based defence systems... for example, it's a defence system against short range (e.g. Qassam, Katjusha and Grad rockets) and slow moving threats (especially drones), but it surely can't replace the missile defence systems David's Sling and Arrows3.
Also, the laser isn't really effective in clouds, therefore they still need Iron Dome on rainy days.
So, Iron Beam will be a very useful addition and improvement, but not replacement, for the existing missile-based defence systems.
Hopefully they will have some Iron Beam systems operational before any major escalation from Hizbullah.

As an Israeli, I agree with most of the content. Just a few corrections: 1. On the 07.10 a group of female soldiers has fought in their Merkava tanks and provided some serious support. 2. The Air force has F-15s, F15 Strike Eagles, F-16s and F-35s. 3. There's also a Merkava-based APC called Namer.
4. In general, there's much better footage of Iron dome intercepting rockets, including an amazing still photo of an interception whose photographer was sadly murdered by Hamas on 07.10.

They haven't fought a war since 2006 in south Lebanon, which they lost. Even Operation Cast Lead in 2014 in Gaza wasn't a clear victory. They're a conscript army, many of those serving don't want to be there. Most of the military are reservists who lack regular training and experience. They rely heavily on technology to reduce casualties, more so than Americans, and are extremely sensitive to any casualties they do receive.

In that sense, one can even say that it's a faulty design, as the armor is actually reduced compared to the other western MBTs. However, it is very effective against heat projectiles, including all sorts of rockets, which is very convenient for Israelis as they will be facing lots of RPGs but not any modern western MBTs on the field. It really is designed to be used by Israel and Israel only.
Firstly Merkava has a batle kit design to be attached in the bottom front part if it goes to Battle against modern tanks, upper front has same resilience as other western MBTs.
The turret is design so the tank can basically hide exposing it and not much more with many degrees of elevation and depression meaning that the add-on kit is not really that necessary

None of Israels victories were very improbable. Prior to the six day war, all western intelligence agencies were saying that Israel would win within about a week. When you are fighting in the desert the side with the better airforce is going to win every time.
1948 was the only war where Israel was ever in any real danger. And even then they had a significant military advantage throughout, including a numerical advantage in troops.

The Israelis knew they could take the Golan and the Sinai at any time. They were just waiting for the political opportunity to do so, which Nasser foolishly gave them.
In a way, you are correct, the Israelis had a numerical advantage, they were about 500 thousand surrounded by some 100 million arabs in 1948. So yeah the advantage was definitely theirs in the sense that you either all fight or get wiped out.
