  • William Thatcher is a peasant in medieval Europe. His master died & William has been competing in jousting under an assumed name. To compete you must be of noble birth & when Williams lie is discovered, he is put on display in the stocks.

The part that i really love about this scene aside from the prince is when paul bettany closes his eyes at 2:55. His reaction is like "my god, it actually happened" its so perfect.

This scene is much better here, the theatrical cut, than it was in the Directors cut.
in the DC Edwards doesnt unveil himself until the crowd has died down. Somehow I always thought that made him a bit weak.
Here, his presence calms the crowds down. As a true prince/would be king, should.

I LOVE at 2:56 his friend closes his eyes cuz he's so proud of his friend and he's trying to hold back his emotions. Such a moving action.

Before seeing this film several years ago I had some doubts as to whether modern actors had the strength and presence of their predecessors - this film and particularly this scene cleared my doubts. RIP Heath.

An amazing movie. This scene is the most moving piece of cinematic footage I have seen. No mater how many times I watch it I am shaken to my very depths of being. A commoner forgiven of is transgressions and proclaimed royalty by the prince of the most high.

Best scene in this movie, which was a fun one as it was. Surprised that we haven't seen James Purefoy (the prince) in other movies.

After the funny stuff this is the best moment of the film. You can change your future if you never give up on it. Own your future.

But the very best part of this scene has been cut and is only available in the bonus features. It is THE BEST speach of Chaucer in the whole movie.

That may be even true. AFAIR they were extras from the country were they filmed and almost none of them spoke English, so they had to be shown what to do when..you also see it in the scene where will fights with hte sort and they don't cheer, only after his freinds started to cheer. that was because they did not know that they were supposed to cheer at that point ;)

A melhor cena do filme!

I wonder who the BLACK PRINCE was really talking about in this movie?
    Makes you wonder!!!
"my PERSONA HISTORIANS have personally discovered... he is a decendant from an ancient ROYAL LINE"
He was making it up ( or not, just trust me), but what they put in movies is not what you think.
BEYOND CONTESTATION... no shit? I wonder how he figured that?
