      @@nise6699 No, but it might be. With Leech Seed, Synthesis and Horn Leech, it can get its built-in Focus Sash back with relative ease.
      Also, Rock/Grass is a surprisingly good defensive and offensive type combo - they cover each other's weaknesses well. Rock turns Grass' weaknesses to Fire, Poison and Flying to neutral, while Grass turns Rock's weaknesses to Water, Grass and Ground to neutral. This makes it only weak to Fighting, Ice and Steel. And it has access to Superpower to deal with Steel and Ice types and Play Rough or Zen Headbutt for Fighting types.

    Such a good wall breaker in singles, but still balanced because of her not having a very good speed boosting option.
    You'd probably want to go for Hearthflame Mask in most instances for its raw power, as well as it getting Mold Breaker to beat Unaware mons and Heatran. This paired with Swords Dance, and good typing against a lot of stall teams, makes it really good.
    But because it has no speed boosting options, it can easily be revenge killed by pokemon like Dragapult (or Lycanroc which is a bit niche but life Orb boosted rock slide OHKOs). You COULD run trailblaze but then you either dont have good grass stab or dont have coverage.

    I'm running a bulky support/damage Ogerpon for VGC and the thing to note is that it COMPLETELY INVALIDATES opposing rain teams. Pokemon like Basculegion, Ludicolo, and even Urshifu have an incredibly difficult time dealing with Horn Leech + Knock Off (I'm running ivy cudgel instead but seriously considering knock off).
    Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
    Ability: Water Absorb
    Level: 50
    Tera Type: Water

    Fire ogre absolutely steamrolls stall. Mold breaker means unaware pokes are unable to ignore swords dance boosts, so it leaves skeledirge(resists both stabs, but nailed by knock off and stomping tantrum + will-o-wisp doesn't touch it, so dirge really isn't an answer) and iron defense corviknight(requires tera + ivy cudgel has a high crit rate).

    3:35 That is indeed what I do and with its speed boost you can run adamant and still outrun mons like timid dragapult or timid/jolly base 95 choice scarf users. Also I am pretty sure the 2 best forms of ogerpon are teal and hearthflame but I am having difficulty on which one is 3rd or 4th. At first I thought cornerstome was the weakest then I changed my mind as I thought water absorb is a terrible ability at least in singles unlike sturdy. I might have to say that the winner for 3rd place is uncertain as the more that I look at it, the more useless the abilities for these forms are in terms of singles(sturdy conflicts with the defense boost from tera and can be broken by stealth rocks and water absorb is useless on a mon with a 4x resistance for singles). Although both are good abilities for doubles even with some caveats like water absorbs specific use in redirection and sturdy conflicting with the tera defense boost but both are certainly strong, don't get me wrong.

    I picked the fire mask because I realized while playing the Teal Mask that my team had zero option against Water-type Pokémon after my Scovillain was violently murdered by Penny's Vaporeon, and added Ogerpon to my team to fill the hole in my heart. I took my Flamigo off the team for her since Quaquaval could handle the same Flying and Fighting-type coverage.
    I did not know the masks gave a 1.2X attack boost, in addition to 2.0X STAB when terrastalized, plus the 1.5X increase from the fire mask's ability accounting for type effectiveness, and thats a crazy amount of damage.

    The sentiment about seeing a Pokemon not being min maxed like crazy hits especially hard after these two generations. It also shows that there are ways of making great and interesting Pokémon beyond amazing stat distribution. In particular, Ogerpon's mechanics seem like a second attempt at a Zacian/Zamazenta. Only real knock against it from me is that true to Pokémon, some of her forms are quite better than others.

    • @Scepers
      @Scepers ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don’t know. I think all the forms are pretty good. Default is obviously really good as is hearth, but rock is also pretty damn crazy. It has horn Leach sd with sturdy which frequently lets you gain back your sturdy or enough hp to live another attack after terra defense boost. + rock is actually kinda busted offensively in a way that a lot of teams are simply not prepared for. With fighting coverage, you have a pretty nasty mix of speed, power, and “why won’t this thing DIE!” The water form is the only one that stands out to me as being less busted on paper but i would not write it off especially in vgc. All 4 seem really good to me.

  • @zanderwoods5434
    @zanderwoods5434 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the fire one looks neat. If you get a turn to setup, maybe get a tailwind as well, then you can likely just sweep. With a swords dance and terra ability boost, that'd be 120 base attack times 2.5, given another 1.2 times for the mask, and then stab bonus as well, with fire being a pretty good offensive type. Ivy Cudgel, for instance, would be 100*2.5*1.2*1.5=450 power. For comparison, Fishious Rend with Choice Band, Strong Jaw, STAB and its own bonus is 574 power, on a poke with 90 base attack. I doubt it will be as oppressive as the Fish, but Ogerpon has the makings for a very fun and potent sweeper.

    For singles, I personally like the prospect of Cornerstone Ogerpon as a lead mon, as it offers some interesting traits that differentiate it from Meowscarada. This is between it having the built-in Focus Sash so it has more opportunity to perform actions in the lead slot when combined with its good speed tier, and the fact that it is a Grass type that laughs at the face of Flying types (aka opposing Defoggers). However in comparison to Meow, it is slower, no STAB on Knock Off, cannot run a Band or Boots, and lacks Protean as an ability, so it occupies a different lead niche than Meow that depends on the team you are using. It is the Ogerpon form that doesn't really care about Tera'ing, which is nice since it frees up Tera for the rest of the team.
    For the other forms, I can see Wellspring have a role in the tier, between its nice defensive typing and the fact that it laughs at the face of Rain teams. Heartflame is easily the form we see the most currently in Singles between its super attack boosts and dual STAB. That being said, we are currently in a fast paced meta with Aurora Veil offense everywhere, which Heartflame definitely benefits from. If the meta slows down and becomes more hazards oriented like pre-DLC, then I can see the mon run into some real issues due to its permanent SR weakness.
    As time went on, I realize that Teal form probably isn't that good for OU. It having a free item slot is very nice, but it being a pure Grass type (no secondary STAB) with no way to change types definitely hurts this mon immensely, especially since it doesn't get the inherent 1.2x boost like the other forms. This mon also highly struggles in dealing with the prominent Flying type mons in the tier (aka most of the Defoggers), being forced to slot in the weak Rock Tomb to actually pose a threat to them. It is also funnily enough the form that probably relies on Tera the most, cause otherwise it doesn't have much traits to its name to avoid being outclassed by the other offensive Grass types in the tier. Without Tera, it has to contend with the higher strength, physical bulk, and Grassy Terrain of Rillaboom, as well as the higher speed, dual STAB, and Protean of Meowscarada. As a lead, it is woefully outclassed by Meowscarada, with Meow being naturally faster without the need to Tera, and outclassed by its own Cornerstone form since it actually has means to threaten opposing Defoggers.

  • @monke2103

    Yeah I don't really see people using the other forms maybe the fire one but they are just completely outclassed by the grass form
