Worth pointing out that the battery is removable. it’s just not quick release. It’s three screws and Dyson sell replacement batteries at a reasonable cost on their website at least in the UK, and they even have a TH-cam video on how to do it.
We got one two months ago as we just renovated from carpet to hard floors. We had the Dyson Animal prior and I was kind of expecting to use the V8 only but with the battery life I find myself using it only on the stairs and for spills (say coffee grounds in the kitchen and things like that). To do the weekly "deep" clean around the house we're still getting the animal out to vacuum rugs and do the dusting on baseboards, fans and other areas. I will say though having the convenience of being able to grab this off the wall and not deal with cords for quick cleanups can be described as a lifestyle change for the better. If you're OCD like me, chances you are if you're watching this video, I'd recommend it especially for the price point.
to note the battery on the v8 is removal and changeable with 3 party battery which have more capacity I did it as the standard battery didnt work very well anymore. you just need to unscrew I think 4 screw but it is very simple imo.
V8 has to be one of the best model! Wer are using the old v8 animal and I think it’s 5 years old now and it still works amazing. The battery is still good. I just wish it had a flexible attachment
Mr. Vacuum Wars (I don’t know your name) - thank you for every review you do. Your approach and diligence is appreciated 💯 any vacuum/air purifier purchase I make, i am always sure to use your links to help keep this operation alive. You are a rare gem on the internets 🙌🏻
I have been using an early Dyson V6 absalute till I had a mishoop the other day and I made it not so functional (dropped very heavy metal onto it and it died). So after over 8 years I finally needed to upgrade. I didn't want the v15 cos I felt I preferred the style, shape and weight of the V8 than the v15. I use it alot freehand so that matches what you said. I have massively upgraded the battery life, max suction is a bit better, the stainless dustguard inside is much better than the old plastic mesh (I got a tear in mine). I disliked the new powerheads when I first tried them, felt like they just tickled the surface but I have come to really like them with a bit of use. The suction seal is better so leads to less aggressive brushing but just as effective cleaning. The low power setting feels like its alot less than on the V6, but it is tons quieter, cleans juat as well, then when you go to max its a hair quieter but a much nicer sound, so a win in my book. On full power I get some more of that fine packed dust out too. Though max power is short on battery life much closer to the v6 battery life, the drawback is that the longer recharge on the V8 means you tend to want to vacuum on low everywhere then hit max for the worst spots only. I did this on the V6 already due to its smaller battery but still have to despite the "longer runtime" on the V8. I am sure the longer low power life is the lower suction and more effecient powerhead more than reduced consumption of the vaccume fan itself. Not sure the about the washable HEPA filter though. I am happy, its a solid upgrade, was disappointed bye the accessories all being a different style so had to get an Absalute again and couldnt reuse the old ones. Cost was ok. Its a Dyson not a cheepo but $549 AUD delivered seems ok to me. Given my last one was over 8 years old and on its third battery I think thats reasonable as I paid probably 100 more new for the V6 than the V8. I think the auto variable speed and the wet mophead "submarine" would be the ideal upgrade for this one. That wet head does not use suction so the V8 feels like it would be ideal to upgrade with. A comparison of the old V6 with the new V8 in low and high and battery life would be an ideal addition to this video to help people who are replacing a device know what the differences actually are before they buy. Just a though for how future videos are done, as comparisons to past models may seem un-needed but they are informative. As users frequently look to videos to see how the new model stacks up and compares to their old ones.
I think the two filters deserve mentioning. There is the usual cap at the end you need to clean, but also down the middle in the container section of the handle. That extra filter should keep the HEPA filter from getting clogged as much. The V10 is basically junk after two years because dirt starts to seep in through the seams of the canister and immediately clogs the filter.
The reason I prefer this style of vac over the longer newer versions, is that I can easily open everything up and blast out all the stank nastiness that resides deep in the vac with my air compressor. Can’t do that with the ones similar to the V15 style. Bout a year ago, I bought Dyson’s top of the line V15. 😮, that sucker was immediately packaged back up and sent back to Dyson. Wouldn’t own one if they were sold at 25% of their asking price. Just no way to get the innards clean. Without an air compressor, I have no idea how y’all are cleaning out your vacs. Trust me, if you see the plume of funkiness that an air compressor gets out of your vac, you will be buying an air compressor!
As always, great review, thanks :) Thanks to your video, I chose the V15 and I'm very happy with it. One thing you could take into account in your tests is that the carpet nozzle is not very good at dealing with the straw that our rabbit scatters on the carpet. This may be a challenge for new vacuum cleaners.
Please consider reviewing one of the Karcher VCN cordless vacuums (3, 4, or 5). It’s a V8-style cordless made by a German company known for their commercial cleaning equipment. It has very promising customer reviews and a claimed runtime that matches the V15. It would be nice to see a brand you haven’t covered before. Thanks for another great video.
I am from Austria and Kärcher as a German company enjoys a very strong position here. But to be honest: They are too expensive for their cheap plastic and less power compared to Dyson. I don‘t really like the Kärcher products my dad bought in the past but i have three Dysons (oldest from 2006) and all of them work. Only a battery change is necessary after a few years.
I really hope Dyson restyle next vacuums with old handle design, it was so balanced in the hand and easy to use. I have an old V8 and what hold me from buying new generations is weight and awful balance, I don’t use carpet so V12 fluffy laser head tempted me but his dust bin is smaller. So I hope in next generation smarter design.
You don't know what it's like to have your best friend completely erased by a Dyson V8. One minute we are eating a snack, the second my friends arm is already in the dustcup. Once we got home we were going to go the Sizzler!
I understand that you don’t put prices because they are subject to change, but could you put the MSRP price and not just the $$$$. Thanks! Love the reviews!
Thank you for the review. I really wish Dyson would put the laser into the motor head since the wheels does not get clog up quickly by the animal hairs like the soft roller and it can also work on the small carpets without swapping out the head.
Is there a visual difference between the old and the new model? I'm looking to buy the new model and i am concerned about buying the old one by mistake. Can't seem to find a picture that tells the difference between them
Does the new V8 come in the same trims as before? V8, V8 Origin, V8 Animal, V8 Absolute? Whats the difference between them all? Is the Origin just a target exclusive version of the basic V8? How do you know you're getting the refreshed version?
Just purchased this. Seems like it's going to be great but is it true that you have to hold the power button the entire time you vacuum? No way to switch it on and off?
What vacuum would you recommend for my household? All hard floors and long haired cats so kitty litter and kibbles on the floor. Im not looking to spend 1000€ on it, something 400-600€ 20-30 minutes of battery is sufficient.
Could you please make a video about what is okay and NOT okay to use the dysons to vacuum? I.e. dry rice, cheerios, popcorn, beads, powder, etc. I think people would love that! I’m always uncertain what will destroy my vacuum

I just got the V8 today. Gotta say it's one of the UGLIEST vacuums I ever seen but it does the job well. I would go for Vorwerk but that's just insanely expensive.
I bought a V8 in 2016 and used the heck out of it until I gave it to a family member. She still uses it all the time. I did replace the battery (it's easily removable with a couple of screws) because it didn't run long enough to cover my entire 1700SF. I don't see any improvements to the accessories on the new V8. That small motorized brush roll is a downgrade, IMO, because the brush doesn't come close to either edge like the older one did.

The V8 is still my favorite for the shape of the handle etc. Much easier to use and empty. YAY for Dyson recognizing the value!
They also have an Absolute model that includes a soft roller head so the hard floor performance shouldn't be an issue!
And the refurbished V8 absolute is only 199 which includes both heads.

I don’t like that you can’t see if the filter is dirty.
I bought the new V8 just a few days before you released your review. This is an accurate review! Always enjoy watching your videos.

I have the older model. I am confused about the main filter (the twist-off) and can you wash it and how to tell when to replace it. Thanks anyone.

Well the old version was considered non removable because it was screwed in. You could still buy new V8 batteries. Could be the same here.
Identical setup as the original, remove the screw, pull the battery and replace it.
The only reason the v8 sales today is because of the dewalt battery mod

The V8 update is stealing the V12 Slim's lunch.

120 mins runtime 😂
Do you vacuum for two hours?
Is that a bad thing?
@@HumanStateOfEmergency sometimes. I was laughing because it’s not near 120 minutes
4:19,oh thats a no no😢
If you spill cereal on the floor and immediately reach for a high tech hoover rather than a dustpan and brush then you can be the first one on mars
