That last shot of you typing is fantastic!! AAAAAHHH LUCAS THE SHOP looks SOOOO GOOOD
Very impressive typing speed Lucas! And a joy to see these two beautiful machines working side by side. Anthony
IBM selectrics are wonderful machines!
Here is after the film "Populaire", thanks.
Love the comparison ❤
Well done! Very good comparison. Thanks!
The backdrop of the shop looks so amazing :D
@anastasiadalias1rbu ah dude! Thank you so much!!! I can't wait for you to come and visit.
What an interesting video, well done 👍
Very nice explain
Thank you so much for this video, I have a personal typewriter and I love it, there isn't much out there on them and it is always great to see video's on them. I didn't know that they could have the cartridge changed out from the 210 bicycle one to the selectric 2 one, that is something that I might look into.
If you have a bicycle cassette or for some reason want to reuse a cassette (like you want the IBM logo for example), you can just splice new carbon ribbon into the old one with tape and rewind it. The back of the cassettes are generally attached via pegs and holes, pry carefully.
Yes, that's absolutely doable!
Class of '80 here. We trained on redbrick colored Selectric IIs, nylon ribbons, no correction. They were massive.
I have a Selectric III now that doesnt work perfectly. It makes a thumping sound, the correction ribbon is hosed, and when i type the same letter too quickly (for example, in the word "letter"), the second punch doesnt "take". Having said that, I just typed out a beautiful resume on it.
Your green one is a true work of art. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks! That thump is a cracked center hub!
@@TypewriterChicago is it serious?
@jeremynv89523 it can be, but expensive to swap. Once it's swapped it's forever good, they're replaced with stable materials. If you're typing fine, keep typing, but it's possible a more significant issue will present soon.
I've been looking for a Caligraphy type element. I think it would be fun to write some letters and post cards with it.
I absolutely agree! I do not have one in stock sadly, they look fun!
Is the Personal IBM both 10 and 12 cpi? Can you type a degree symbol with the Personal IBM?
The one I had was 12, they can come in 10 but I think that's more rare. Depending on the element, you can type a degree
