***** Remember Mr. 17 with the orange tie, the one 47 killed in Moscow? He thought he killed all of them too, but there may be more out there fulfilling contracts as we speak!
I kinda agree. But i would like to see the guy who played in the last Punisher War Zone Movie, Frank Castle, I could see him playing 47, Tall, buff as shit in the movie, a real pro. shave his head and he's good to go. Timothy Olyphant did a OK (B-) 47 but it could have been better.
+Lone Wanderer 47 was based on his likeness. He did all the voice acting and motion capture for all the games so far in the series. Hollywood suits are stupid though. He says nobody involved in the films ever contacted him for either movie.
I couldn't stop smiling while I was watching this, this is so awesome, I love it. I've been a huge hitman fan for years and now to have a Q&A session with the man who voices agent 47 dressed like him is over the top.
***** Thanks for the conformation, I could see by looking at David that Agent 47 had to have been inspired by him because he looks and sounds exactly like 47. When I saw the Hitman movie new in theaters, at the time I thought Timothy Olyphant did a great portrayal of 47, but in retrospect, I think David Bateson should have received the role. Thanks again
Mrwafflez1123 I`d go even with VHS if it would be the only carrier with the movie :) What I don`t get why producers used Olyphant instead of him. He simply is the best possible actor for that job, taken into account that many voice actors look little or nothing alike to their fabricated counterparts.
***** That is a bit before my time. I think I wasn`t even planned at the time of Betamax :D But if you wanna go berserk on that one, how about cave painting? Make up the story by reading random hieroglyphs and pictograms :) :) :)

He said himself that that's not how Hollywood works. He's a relatively unknown actor and people generally see movies of big A list actors instead of someone they've never heard of before.
Hitman hardly say's anything anyhow, and having his voice would make it authentic. Also agent 47 has finesse, stealth and master of disguise, so the last movie was a little too much action action explosions etc.
Great to finally see a video with this man. I've played the games heavily since the first in the series and 47 is by far my fav videogame character. David is an absolute legend.
what a great resemblance in real life. His eyes can really be so badass if he acts in a hitman movie. The hitman movie they made was a complete mockery of hitman
i do wish there could have been more interaction between victoria and 47, like if she could use her abilities to get 47 out of a jam and they take down jade and travis together like total badasses. but that may only be my preference. though let me just say, it's really refreshing to see that this ruthless killer also has a tender side. also let me just say david bateson sounds much more british than what i'm used to lol! i wasn't sure if he really was british considering that 47 sounded american but then there were certain words i picked up here and there that were pronounced slightly different. for instance, during one of the mission briefings when he said "warrant", he said like "WAHR-ent" instead of "WOR-ent". anyways, there my two cents, rant over lol
I personally did not like the way they shaped his character in Absolution. Throughout the franchise and even in Blood Money, 47 states that he can do whatever he is paid to do. And that was the point of his character. He was a killer. In order to make his character somewhat likable and justifiable, they made it such that his targets would be mob bosses, powerful people bending the law, terrorists, human traffickers etc. And that was what I best liked about his character. BTW, 47 would actually be of Chinese, Colombian, Austrian, Kazakhstani and Romanian origins. Relating him to a country or a citizenship would be a fallacy IMO.
qsqua i wasn't exactly trying to relate 47 himself to a specific country of origin. i was only making a note of the kind of accent the actor was trying to use. also i think i can understand why you might not like the characterization of 47 in absolution. maybe because i'm personally really sensitive is why i found this 47 a little more appealing because he showed me that he is capable of having even a shred of compassion. though i think it could have been more justified if there was more backstory. i've actually been meaning to pick up the hitman novel which i hear is suppose to be like a prequel to absolution. maybe it might provide something to justify 47's change in character.
Such a gentleman. And Silent Assassin is my favorite as well. I spent a lot of time on the hitman2 forum, been following Bateson's career ever since the first Hitman: Codename 47 A very huge relief that he's back on the franchise. I may actually purchase the next game now.
On another note, the fact that this guy heard the game was coming out and contacted the makers of the game to voice him shows his dedication to the series and the fact that he very much wanted to bring more to 47. Especially since 47 seems to have a bit more humanity in Absolution. Games need more dedicated talent like him. That's awesome.
oh,....Sir Ur so awesome...and you sound and look so much hitman...u know i once got my head shaved to look like him ...and i didn't...i im a big fan of yours ..David Bateson u are awesome, hansome and great ...Thank you
He was born in South Africa and had English parents. He actually returned to Britain in 1984 after entering the acting profession. He then later moved to Canada and now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. One of the coolest characters and individual ever.
WOW he did come back? I was so furious with they decided to change ol´ 47s actor to someone else that I mailed David Bateson way back when about it. Good to see that he could come back.
man he really is 47. if they cant make a movie with him just make a hitman tv series starring him. He does not need to do any stunts, jumps, gunslinging or stunts in the episode, just silent kills. Imagine every episode is based on every level of the hitman games. that'd be awesome
What I really like about Absolution, besides the improved graphics, is the ability to play it differently, play the missions differently. I don't often play with the intent of whatever gets the most points. And it will allow you to play it other than what is considered the best way.
MLG xXx_gotagohrareSWEG_xXx I feel it was better. What I mean by jaded, is graphics don't mean much to a lot of younger players, because they grew up around them. I didn't notice if there was an open map, because I was too busy reacting to the life like scenes. This game was far more reality based, where you don't have an animated map to look at. Checkpoint system? Didn't impress me enough to matter. As far as the missions go, you had several options to play a mission. I am betting many people don't realize how many options there were in a mission. With blood money and before, the options were limited by the limited game play. I would suggest checking out some video walkthroughs. If you don't have the patience or skill to find them in the game play. But generally, you can play it stealth. You can go berserk and get into huge gun battles, and all the little variables in between. But whatever way you choose, if you choose that same way again, it will not be the same each time, because the graphics and characters are more flexible then the earlier games. I played missions a dozen times, and what happened came down to who I looked at, or bumped into. Where I went, what I did and how I did it. It was essentially like really being somewhere. And there was ways to play or options that were just too difficult, which means there is always something more to do. I didn't care about the point system or the detection indicator. I dealt with each mission as if I was really there. And would play for fun. Remember playing for that?
MLG xXx_gotagohrareSWEG_xXx Yeah, I noticed that comment. Actually there are 5 Hitman games. I played Silent Assassin first. It was good, but it only allowed you to play a certain way. I didn't develop any fixed ideas of what a Hitman game should be. As far as the little "video game" things like maps and indicators, I would take reality based graphics over them any day. You can play the game with the Hitman intent just like any earlier game. And the point system favors that you just get the target or targets. But for me, points don't mean anything. Has anyone been able to get anything for their points? Just for the challenge I can do it for the point system. After playing absolution, if I went and played blood money or Silent Assassin , It was like playing a really good guitar, then going and playing a First Act guitar.
MLG xXx_gotagohrareSWEG_xXx Oh. Blood money didn't work out either for me, because halfway through the game, at the end of a mission, when I would get on the elevator, the game would shut down.
David Bateson IS Agent 47. No one else can do his voice as well! Plus 47's physical appearance was somewhat based on Bateson's, I believe. So he is 47.
This makes me both excited and terrified, simply because... 47!!! However, he makes very good points about the difference between different forms of storytelling. As such, IO knows that the fans will only see Bateson as the voice of 47. Christ, I would buy this man a beer.
Caius Nair Knowing Hollywood, he was never considered. "He's too old," is probably along their lines of thinking. The thing is, if Agent 47 in the film actually acted like he does in the games, which is very deliberate, but nothing really requiring much stunt work in terms of films, he'd have been fine. Remove a few age lines with CG and/or makeup, cast him, it'd be great (provided that they could find a way to make watching a slow, decisive assassin interesting to most people). But people who play the games aren't the target audience. Instead, it's the wider number of people who know it's a game and go, "Oh, a film based off a game. And it's full of action. That seems cool," that they're aiming for. And 'full of action' would translate to a lot of dicking around with stunts and scenes and shit that 55 year-old Bateson probably wouldn't be able to do as quickly to look 'cool'. That's not to say that he couldn't do physical performances like that or anything, but he's almost certainly less agile than someone much younger than him, which basically threw him completely out of the running before he was even in it as far as the film(s) go.
Caius Nair Most everything dealing with the gaming industry and the film industry is, unfortunately. The more you learn about the inner-workings of these industries, the less you like them. :/
The professional real hitman 47!!! He looks exactly like the game character modelin fact they actually used his face model in every Hitman series except Absolution but I think the character still looks like him, what if he wore a red tie? He'd be fierce.I yearn to meet this genius voice actor...I think once he's gone the series should discontinue, noone will ever replace his voice and image.
I hear agent 47 talk....omg he sounds just like him. I expected him to have a acting voice different from his regular voice. Oh lord......*sobs* *so good*.
peterpiperdiedharper He does voice overs for a whole bunch of danish commercials as well, like Carlsberg products etc. It's pretty funny when you know it's him. If you have played the games you recognize his voice very easily.
Anders Kristensen i am still taken back how his casual voice sounds so much like agent 47. Most voice actors I have heard have a regular voice and acting voice/voices. I can imagine the surprise danish kids get when they play a assassin game and hear the man who asks them to buy dairy products on tv tell them to shoot people.
i think hitman should go in tv series, like in every serie there is a target to kill and following mission, without any cgi but very well realistic approach. and it should be SILENT assassin, i want that feel of tension and adrenaline like in game, and no mercy it should be pretty brutal and raw because he is professional he dont feel sorry
maybe like CSI there is no storie just another day in hitmans life. and he should have some hobby like painting or pet animals(bird, fish, gekon, and stuff) The storie is already- he is killing and escaping.
18:56 Well, Mr. 47 in question is not a villain but an anti-villain, which is still an awesome type. I would think that 47 is probably the best archetype of anti-villainy, besides any other prime examples.
@SolidSnake3131 when he wears his suit, sure. The main reason he's so athletic is he has more muscle density than bulk so he doesn't stand out so much yet is still extremely athletic
Brilliant video thanks for sharing but his tie is the wrong colour =P Needs to be red with dark grey stripes, I was really disappointed when I heard that Bateson wasn't doing the voice of 47 in Absolution but then he was later on. It wouldn't have been a proper Hitman game without him, amazing voice, sounds so... Professional, see what I did there? ah =) Big shame Jesper Kyd didn't do the music for this game though.
that's what really messed everything up really, 47 never "took care" of someone, he just secured their safety during his missions, then he left for a new assignment.
That's the same thing though. Hiding in plain sight is basically stealth. It's about ensuring you aren't detected whether that's in plain sight or sticking to hiding places. So, by that definition, it was just as Hitman-esque as other Hitmans.
2's story, trying to be a normal human being, but being jaded by the death of a friend, might work. 2 does have the best story, if I'm remembering it correctly.
Its so funny watching somebody as laid back as bateson mingle in the tight-ass corporate atmosphere of the developers. God bless you David. The second you stop voicing the game, I'm retiring from it.
Should have worn a red tie
***** *IS* that really Mr. 47, or one of his many clone "brothers"? We can't assume 47 killed all of them!
***** Remember Mr. 17 with the orange tie, the one 47 killed in Moscow? He thought he killed all of them too, but there may be more out there fulfilling contracts as we speak!
"lesser clone"
He is in disguse :D srry bad engelisj
This guy himself should have been in the movie
i agree
Carlos Montero And DEFINITELY better than the actor for 47 in the new Hitman movie...
Carlos Montero Yes, although I didn't realize it was him specifically.
LordVader1094 that's what he meant. Timothy olyphant.
laimonas lb What?
this guy should have been the guy to star in the actual hit man film without a doubt
He probably got to read the script beforehand and declined, due to it being so awful.

David Betson! GOD BLESS YOU! You are my Best voice actor in the world! I LOVE THE HITMAN AMES! YOU HAVE THE PERFECT VOICE FOR 47!!! thank you...
Atleast they should have made him wear a red tie ....
+Kane Jones haha yeah but shit never looked the voice actor up while i Always do out of curiousity. he should act as 47 in a movie :P
SolidSnake1284 True. he should play an older version of 47 given his age.
+Kane Jones Try and tell him to wear a red tie, or to do anything, and he'll probably shove your head in the toilet :D
Dont you get it? He's disguised
not an older version perse....i dont really find him to look old/older
Why don't they just cast him in the movie? This is exactly what 47 should look like. And he's an actor so I bet he could pull it off.
+Lone Wanderer 47 was based on his likeness. He did all the voice acting and motion capture for all the games so far in the series. Hollywood suits are stupid though. He says nobody involved in the films ever contacted him for either movie.
+Lone Wanderer He's 55, so a bit too old. But it could be some new story involving an older Agent 47.
+Aragiss Agent 47 in canon is 51 by now. So not necessarily.
+Lone Wanderer Even if he wasnt a an actor they could of trained hin to become one. He looks like 47 so I think he should of been in the movies
+Kit Karkai He doesn't look 51. Since he's genetically engineered, he could be aging slower than normal humans.
So after years of being an assassin, 47 retires, grows old, and voice acts for his own games. Yup, confirmed. :)
I couldn't stop smiling while I was watching this, this is so awesome, I love it. I've been a huge hitman fan for years and now to have a Q&A session with the man who voices agent 47 dressed like him is over the top.
Perhaps you also noticed the color of his tie :P
madman2u
I did notice the colour of his tie, it's violet not red, but I didn't want to seem like I was over analyzing or nit-picking.

uhh , he is hitman
And his favourite one is Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Good Lord, perfect.
8 years later, and this man is still doing 47.

Why would he die?!
because we all will die in future...
Seba D I know that it just seemed a little extreme for you to say if he died.
He is alive
Why don't they just get this guy to play 47 in the films?
He said himself that that's not how Hollywood works. He's a relatively unknown actor and people generally see movies of big A list actors instead of someone they've never heard of before.
this will be such a good ideea...he also look like the character
Hitman hardly say's anything anyhow, and having his voice would make it authentic. Also agent 47 has finesse, stealth and master of disguise, so the last movie was a little too much action action explosions etc.
john jones Whoever wrote the movie obviously never achieved silent assassin rank lol
john jones you will be shocked with the second movie

What a vundabar interview, i could listen to him talk about things all day. He should have worn a red tie though. Silly David.
One of the nicest human beings ever, him and Jane Perry have made this series incredible
im so glad bateson came back, i just wish jesper came back too because the music had nothing on the previous games
This guy would really be an ideal actor for the hitman movie, for real.
He is so good, people would request more movies than more games.
i think hitman should go in tv series, like in every serie there is a target to kill and following mission, without any cgi but very well realistic approach. and it should be SILENT assassin, i want that feel of tension and adrenaline like in game, and no mercy it should be pretty brutal and raw because he is professional he dont feel sorry
suteners2111 Not a bad idea, but what would the story be about?
maybe like CSI there is no storie just another day in hitmans life. and he should have some hobby like painting or pet animals(bird, fish, gekon, and stuff) The storie is already- he is killing and escaping.
The show probably wouldn't be that interesting if there is no story to it.
Thumbs up if you would spend your entire day by hanging out with this guy.
18:56 Well, Mr. 47 in question is not a villain but an anti-villain, which is still an awesome type. I would think that 47 is probably the best archetype of anti-villainy, besides any other prime examples.
@SolidSnake3131 when he wears his suit, sure. The main reason he's so athletic is he has more muscle density than bulk so he doesn't stand out so much yet is still extremely athletic
hell yeah they brought back the original Hitman voice Back !
Absolute legend.
David Bateson and Michael Ironside are some lovely voice actors!
I just played through this game.. AWESOME!!!
David Bateson is awesome if anyone else try to voice Agent 47 it will not work but David Bateson is so good his voice is one and only :)
Brilliant video thanks for sharing but his tie is the wrong colour =P
Needs to be red with dark grey stripes, I was really disappointed when I heard that Bateson wasn't doing the voice of 47 in Absolution but then he was later on. It wouldn't have been a proper Hitman game without him, amazing voice, sounds so... Professional, see what I did there? ah =)
Big shame Jesper Kyd didn't do the music for this game though.
that's what really messed everything up really, 47 never "took care" of someone, he just secured their safety during his missions, then he left for a new assignment.
47 will live as long as David Bateson lives.
That's the same thing though. Hiding in plain sight is basically stealth. It's about ensuring you aren't detected whether that's in plain sight or sticking to hiding places. So, by that definition, it was just as Hitman-esque as other Hitmans.
Love the voice
Missed a chance for a red tie
He was so right about the readers. Still wish he would have played hitman.
I agree, red tie would have been amazing
IO interactive have stated that 47 is in fact based on David batesons appearance
Tobias Reaper himself!
47 Shades of Bateson
Man thats 47!. Btw Hitman Absolution was great 10/10 I want a sequel
Agent 47 and solid snake, coolest voices ever.
It's Incredible!!!
Definitely. He even looks like the model they used.
OMG his voise is awesome if i was to hear someone talk like that in the street Id feel like in a movie
and to see him smile.
The second you stop voicing the game, I'm retiring from it.
hitman 2 silent assasin is in my eyes also the best in the series
love the embasy mision
