pishi you should make a video "What is wrong" - you would take a look in a map from a new/rookie mapper and find mistakes that the mapper made, correct it better with explaining it why it is bad etc. would be really cool
Seeing the step by step formation of that 2 and a half second segment put into mapping actually had an impact, the climax was really defined now that I saw the thought behind the timing and placements. These kinds of maps mapping are what I wanna play and see more

Honestly I feel like this has helped quite a bit in terms of getting used to the rhythm and thinking about how certain sounds affect the placement of keys, though it didn't exactly translate into standard due to the freedom you get with placing circles I'd say it helped me with visualization.

If people watch these videos and still have trouble mapping, then all they need is some experience. People always mention mapping stuff that sucks so they don't submit it... PLEASE submit it. And find someone to tell you some suggestions or tips specific to your map. Nobody ever maps and is good from the start. Watching videos can only help so much (a lot), but it can't give you 100% of the help you need for mapping.

my problem is not generating a mental image but rather to realize it, i dont have a problem with insanes most of the time but when i try to do anything harder it just turns out to be an unplayable mess within the first few seconds i get pissed off because of my own inaptitude get discouraged and quit mapping for a month

By the way, I'd personally consider a glissando a slider. Generally, the individual notes in a glissando aren't mapped to strict 16th or 32nd notes like that; the piano player literally moves his hand down the keyboard, paying the most attention to when and where the glissando starts and stops, pitch-wise and rhythmically.

I have a problem with the editor which I wonder if anyone has the same issue: When I click somewhere in the editor with my mouse, the "click signal" always is a little more to the left side than it should be. This makes it really hard for me to map accurately, so I happen to give up quiet quickly.

was only because i was testing out an older osu client (which i'll talk about in detail some time later). makes for good contrast between actual mapping and what i'm imagining at least
