What A Dilemma, I Can Only Keep One! Unboxing An Early RC10 Gold Pan & Comparing It To My 2013 RERE.

  • In this video, I unbox a Team Associated vintage 1984 A stamp 6016 RC10 Gold Pan and I compare it against my rereleased 2013 Gold Pan. Unfortunately, I can only keep one of the two cars so I need to decide if I want the mint condition rerelease or to keep the used vintage buggy. What do you think, comment below?

When I was a kid I had a JRX Pro and my friend had the gold pan RC 10. I loved his buggy so much. We would go to our local track it was 15 min down the road and spend all Saturday and a Sunday racing for only 5 bucks a day. What good times I still have my JRX pro but I’d love to get a RC10.

Great to see that it survived the journey! I DID think that it was something strange about the body - couldn't understand how that could become THAT *points at boxart* I guess one of the allready painted ones are the orginal body :)

I bought an RC10 re-release 5-6 years ago. $270 at the local hobby shop. I never opened it and sold it for a $500 profit a year or two ago on ebay. I was stupid, at the time I bought it I was making really good money, had money to burn and I figured these re-release kits would always be available so my plan was to build it and run the shit out of it. But I didn't, had many other projects going. Then I needed some cash to finish a couple other projects so I sold it. I should have bought 6 of them at $270 each then built one as a runner, one as a shelf queen and sold the rest at a $500 profit each. Ugh....

  • @thelkline7079
    @thelkline7079 4 ปีที่แล้ว

In my opinion it goes without saying that you should keep the A Stamp Original. The Re-Release was predominately manufactured in China so doesn't represent the historical value and collectability of this model. It's not really a legitimate RC10.
I may be mistaken, but I'm not sure that the Re-release tyres will fit on the original wheels, so swapping them over might not be possible. I think the Re-Re tyres and wheels are a different size.
You've got a really nice example there. Great purchase.

I'd keep both, be a bit broke for a while.
It really depends on what you want to do and what's important to you.
Myself, I'd keep whatever I could run from time to time guilt free. I'd also be inclined to go esc as opposed to the msc. Probably the re-re I guess.
Having said all that, I have a 2time world championship edition here that I'm going to do up as a runner.

As to which one to keep....shelf queen...keep and restore the vintage one. If you're building a runner then might as well keep the re-release. But seriously keep both. Make the re-release a runner and restore the original to it's new glory. On ebay right now there is an original 6016 new in box for $2300.

A stamped RC10 now they are really cool and pretty rare in the uk. If it was my dilemma I would restore the original car as a shelf queen. The RERE would become a runner for more running content. To fund it all do a quick restore vid on your standard Optima mid and move that car on. Optima mids are way more common in the Uk . if you are lucky in the next few years Kyosho will release a RERE Mid so you can get a mint replacement.

If it was me, I think I’d look to keep the newer better condition re release, and sell the old Original. Maybe I’d be loosing out value wise, on a mint original. Thing is though..I can’t bare to pay so much for used and badly scratched items. That’s my opinion on re re vs originals in general. I’d only pay over the odds for an original if it was either NIB.. or built well and unused, also.. providing there wasn’t a cheaper re-release version available. The way I see it is: It’s Still made by Associated, still the same car but in perfect condition and probably now with a few improvements in the design. Just my opinion of course.

I paid $400 for my muckraker No Lie I feel you on that one it was my Walmart bonus anyways now you have the cure for Corona the Pepsi body wow now you brought one of those cars to the UK and they're worth a lot more over there smart how you going to ask which one when you have one that's in maculan shape and the other one is a r e relief come on just keep it so that way you'll have parts are you can have a runner I think a runner is better cuz then you just don't have to stare at it wondering what day are you going to run it what is special enough for you to run it. thats your racer for your race track that you want to make one day that would be a cool racer to race against your friends because they know about it and what you had to go through just to keep it and how long you had it people see it on display so just keep it and run it put some gold scratches all over it at least you'll scratch gold you can sell the shavings just kidding I love those things ain't really gold anyways anything you touch turns to gold you approached everything in the right way I would say ps u need a vintage racing car for the track if I ever get a chance to go to the UK I'm going to send my first Radio Shack over there to race it and a couple of other cars to race against you and that would be awesome I'll drink the Pepsi's you can have the Coors

  • @alfredyost7972

I have both as well. I wanted to swap out parts between the two, but as you observed the gold parts are different. So, I was not able to. The re-release is very valuable but only if it is unbuilt. The older "A" stamp is just starting to go up in value if the condition is good. I suspect, that in the future the "A" stamp will go up a lot in value. I also think that Team Associated might re-release the RC10 again. I mean, why not? I believe that Team Associated is owed by Thunder Tiger, I can not see any reason why they would not re-release it again. Since you have stated that you are not working now and are just doing your TH-cam channel, I would sell the re-release RC10. If you do, you should paint the body in box art, paint the driver and install the window netting too. The idea is that you can get your money back on the re-release RC10 and also get paid for your awesome painting skills too. I have already sold one re-release RC10 already. It sold easy and I was able to double my money too. Once the pandemic is looking better, I plan on selling my last re-release RC10.

I was the same as you looking for one but couldn't get one over here in the U.K and they were ridiculous money so when they re re'd it I jumped on it..Your dilemma is tuff, do you go for the mint one or a rare original?? I personally would stick with the re re as they seem to have gone up in price and are becoming just as rare..
