- The 2024 Lok Sabha election results are finally in. The BJP has won 240 seats - that’s 32 below the majority mark of 272, and 63 less than it won in 2019. The NDA has together won 293 seats, and opposition INDIA has 234. The Wire's Jahnavi Sen speaks to senior journalist Saba Naqvi and The Wire's founding editor M.K. Venu on their big takeaways from the results, how they think Narendra Modi will be as the leader of a coalition government, whether the BJP will witness changes, and more.

If Congress had worked little more, then congress would had got 115-120 seats for sure. In Karnataka, they performed miserably despite being in power.
Where congress got spectacular show even with the help of collision partners except in kerala.Cngress took 10 years to reach 99..Still they want to rule this country.Feel pity.
@@jayaprakashthampuran6521 out of 75 years congress has been power for 60 years and bjp only for 15 years.....for a party older than 60 years there is a lot of baggage and for it to get 100 seats is actually impressive and it increased the vote share
i live in karnataka and everyone here votes on the bases of caste....lingayats for bjp, volkaligas for jds and the rest for congress.....bjp is down but the jds voters helped bjp get more seats
@@jayaprakashthampuran6521 absolutely. I completely agree. Congress has lost its presence in many states. And other side there is BJP, extremely ambitious party. They are now in Orissa. Tomorrow bengal for sure and Kerala after that.
@@arjunthesaint but still congress should have got 12-14 seats. DK shivkumar is vokaliga. Is lingayat such domination factor there that they can on their own decide final outcome. And khadge is from Karnataka. He is congress president. People should had considered that factor.

Within six months a no confidence motion cannot be brought forward. Within these six months Modi will devour Nitish and Chandrababu by purchasing the MPs with carrots.

Brother, even the Supreme court is struggling to find an answer. Governor's would still rule the roost.

It will never happen and that the Governor's will still operate as devil's in the Opposition ruled states.

The Governor is a nomine of the GoI, whereas the people of a State chooses and elects a party.
There is a proverb in Tamil language. " Garland in Monkey's hands. The flowers 🌹 will be disseminated in seconds. Our Governor's r one and the same Monkey's -in Opposition ruled states. Classic example is R.N.Ravi - a dozen Bills r thrown into dustbin. And that I feel sad.

I have a feeling that the opposition is being a bit too optimistic about Nitish and Naidu.
@@StarSprangledBanner They know both Naidu and Nitish will not come it's common sense they will give first preference to their own state's benefits which is only possible by remaining in stable alliance not khichdi sarkar but Opposition is attacking them on Moral ground to create public pressure on them. After 1 or 2 years we might see anyone or both of them switching sides if their demands aren't satisfied.
Mr Naidu gets prison due to ED and then joins alliance and now supports govt. So ED pressure has worked.

Nice analysis. Modi's arrogance is still there in his recent speeches after the results were announced. Still he needs an introspection of his mindset, with a NDA Alliance partners collation Govt. Atal Bihari Vajpayee generous mindset is somewhere missing. Still Modi trends with the same mindset of Dr Paul Joseph Geobbel the Nazis propaganda Minister, even after losing the majority.

This phenomenon seemed to have happened with allies of Modi/Shah BJP during last 10 years.
BJP declared plans of making India Congress mukt but made India BJP mukt. RSS and its affiliates and most of the institutions were rendered redundant and the public was taken for granted. The public took the lead and, spurred by I.N.D.I.A., bounced back in the last election. Hope aspiring dictators have learnt their lessons.

Real winner is Akhilesh and Mamta together they redused BJP by 33 seats. ( 240 + 33 273 ). Congress could not win 100. for 3 succesive times cannot be seen as winner. Just joining all the parties helped all of them to gain some 50 seats but could not dethrown NDA from power.. Even the number of 22 parties together is 234 while just one BJP. has 240 .So calling BJP is a looser or India winner is not logical . May be becayuse all 22 parties joined together to defeat Modi but were not successful however they could reduse his strength by about 50 seats.
