Nice to see you back doing bobbin lace. It is much easier to hang your starter bobbins as you need them rather than all a once. It is much less confusing and you don’t get them slipping off when you push the ones to be used to the right out of your way.

I was thrilled to see that you did another bobbin lace tutorial!! Since I broke my wrist 2 years ago, I have not recovered enough feeling in my hands to bobbin lace again. I still have my pillow and bobbins though. I also can't crochet anymore either.
I bought a 4 shaft floor loom last year. I can do that with major decreased feeling in my hand. I am in love. I am getting old so trying to learn as much and do as much as I can before I can't!!

I have to say I have been LOVING these tutorial videos. They've made me want to get back into the craft after nearly 20 years. I do have a question - if you were working this pattern without having to stop and explain aspects of it, roughly how long would it take you? Future video idea: I think it would be nice to have a series of short maybe one minute videos just showing the different bobbin lace movements! What does a whole stitch, half stitch, twist, etc. look like? how do the bobbins move? How does the thread move? Would be interesting to see the movements isolated!

Thank for explaining things as you go but I still don’t understand when I should use a whole stitch Vs. a half stitch. And how would someone know to fill in the fan space instead of leaving it as open space?
Question about the thread is the number 8 size thread thicker then the size 10 thread? I was taught that the higher the number the thinner the thread. I have been crocheting for over 55 years, I learned how from my grandmother, I also have a BFA concentration in textile design.
How much thread do you need for each bobbin/pair of bobbins?

Shirley Pritchard My lace teacher gave it to me. She used to make patterns, like the first one I ever did. I have them listed on my website.
How do you know how much thread to wrap onto each bobbin???
Kind of like a maroon mix to me. Lost all my bobbins and pillow in a storage unit, my son didn't pay the bill for me with my money 😒 starting all over for the fifth time 🙃

Beautiful it's a work experience that I would like to try I'm into crochet, needle tatting and this one ive never tried. It looks complicated but with everything else it's a experience and a learning process. How do I go about getting all the equipment.
You would love it. It can be a little confusing at first but it’s so easy to undo if you make a mistake. Take a look and this other video I made. Maybe it will be a good way to try before you buy. If you love it I bought my supplies from Snowgoose lace. They sell sets. The pillow, bobbins etc. it’s a great deal.

Is it right that when you do a half stich your pairs do not Stay together?
Yes, they do not stay in pair's when you do half stich.
You always work with pairs, but the pairs themselves can often change.. Don’t look at the bobbins. Look at where the next stitch is going to be.
I saw the Instagram blurb about someone demo'ing a product and having 3imillion views, but because she didn't do it 'this' way, she missed out on (I think it was around 30k$?!)....... therefore, ya, I'm glad you said no to a free pair of glasses, as that wouldn't have come close to retribution ------ even if they hand bobbined them out of SOLID GOLD AND PLATINUM, dipped in chocolate sauce and rolled in crushed nuts.
Though, those last two parts do sound pretty tasty.
Smell good, too.
And a good crunchy texture.

I believe I put about 2 yards on each bobbin (4 per pair)
I usually measure 2 arms lengths. Arms out to your sides, tip of one hand to the other hand. That’s “one” Do that two times

I have a stupid question, probably one of many that I’m going to ask! How do you know to start with a whole stitch? When you get a pattern, are there instructions with it? I’m an avid knitter, so I’m used to everything being spelled out. I have Geraldine Stott’s book, but I find it confusing. Do you recommend any other books?
There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers because I don’t know! Lol sorry. I think it’s to “lock” the threads together. It’s something I never thought to ask my lace teacher. Perhaps someone else will see this and be able to give you a proper answer.
