Bettas can cohabit with other fish. As long as they’re faster and plentiful betta will eventually get along with them

Wasn't much of a fan of betta fish as a kid. We were told that they were agressive towards all other fish, so you could only keep one of them. The aquarium shops around here still think so. Only when I got older and started watching and reading more about the hobby did I come to like them.
I'm still not a fan of ciclids though. Every one I've had have been mean. They've always killed every other fish in the aquarium. We started out with 5 Angelfish, 2 male and 3 female, one left now. Fought all the time. The one left attacks the aquarium glass if you go past it. It even eats anubias plants.
