- A year and a half ago, Steve Hartman introduced us to a pair of unlikely best friends: widower Dan Peterson and Norah Wood, a little girl who encountered him in a grocery store and demanded a hug. He gave her one, and they’ve been inseparable every since, including at Norah's recent pre-school graduation in Augusta, Georgia.

It doesn't get any better than this! From the day I was born until the day she died my great-grandmother was my very best friend. I loved her more than life itself. Still do and I will be 75 next month.

Πάρης Τσ really amazing parents. The mom especially, she let her bother him in the store like that, I would have been upset she called him an old man but the Mom seems like an old soul herself.

His wife and Nora could also be two halves, they separated when they came here. They also have no age rule either.

This is exactly what the world needs.
For the last couple of years, I have used this video in a free write writing activity in my L.A. class. My goal is to present goodness in the world, with hopes that I can inspire my students to duplicate the big message- love your neighbor. Undoubtedly, tissues are passed out after we watch the video. As the mother in the video says "It's pure magic".
Brings me to tears all the time I see or think of this story..This is truly a blessing from God..

Such s beautiful, heartwarming story. This little girl gave this elderly man a lot of happiness after his wife died. She will have a lot of wonderful memories of this relationship.
This story made me cry again. Dan passed away in February 2020. Nora sent him off with love to be with his wife.
Growing old isn't easy. Your body is slowly giving up on you and your friends and loved ones die off one after another. An old person, like a child, just want to be loved while they still can. Norah was able to fill that hole left in Steve after his wife had passed away. Hope that they can have fun for many more years and that Steve can eventually pass away in peace.
Actually, 'Steve' is the name of the guy who did the story (Steve Hartman). The man _in_ the story was named _Dan._ I say 'was,' because he died earlier this year (2020). But I'd be willing to bet that, many years from now when Norah dies, Dan, and Mary (Dan's wife) will be waiting for Norah in Heaven. And, it wouldn't surprise me if Norah hugged Dan the minute she saw him again.

I'd consider that MORE than likely,snd most probably Mary, Dan's wife would have received a bear hug too,as I'm sure that Dan would hsve told Norah many lovely stories about his wife. At the end of the day. Dan and Mary,were Norah's
honorary grandparents.
Both Norah AND Dan were such lovely souls and I'm SURE that Mary would've been one too.
Look for the original story. Very touching. If you don’t follow Steve on Facebook, Dan Peterson recently passed away. Got his last hug from Nora the day before he died. RIP Dan.
