    Have you ever suffered a leg injury like this? If so, what did you do to help yourself? And how long did it take for you to get back on your feet?

      I tried stretching the calf muscles a little bit and I take Ibuprofen and Hydrocodone together as the Norco has acetaminophen. But being 68 and running hills with my dog kind of messed me up😂. One more thing that I've tried that worked is a heating pad all around my calf and a mini massage vibrator gun.👍.
      I have heard of light therapy but never tried it so I will try that next time.

      Thanks for asking. Please list the area of your doctorate. If the calf starts to feel heavy and starting to swell, I stop immediately. Same with ANY pain. Usually I can get back to running in a week. If I keep going, the calf will get much worse and it will take me 3 weeks to do long walks, even with ice, ligth use, and elevation. I suspect this recurrent injury was about my foot plant and bad timing of the calf's work cycle. For some reason, I was landing mid-foot, then back to the heel and finally toe push. I changed to heel strike and rolling to the toe push. I try to relax through eccentric calf work and moved to a higher heel 10mm -12 mm vs 4 to 6mm. I also get off the roads and onto trails. It seems to be a repetitive motion problem because I can jump rope and play tennis or badminton without trouble. i will try the taping and may try to supplements. Any luck with compression socks?

      I had the exact same thing happen to me at the age of 40, a day after doing calf raises at the gym. I stepped backward and I felt a pop in my calf and then massive burning pain that knocked me to the ground. Because I was outside my first thought was that I had been shot. I was an MRI tech so when I made it back to work I had a scan. The scan demonstrated a complete tear of the soleus which the orthopedist said did not need to be repaired. 25 years later it has not been a problem possibly until now. I am trying to strengthen my legs but now I am having mid-calf soreness after calf raises. Which is why I saw your video.

    I don't know what I have. I'm in a 3rd week of a running program and I up the intensity by running 5x1 km intervals with hills added and the next day my calves were sore. I ran ez runs the next couple days but the pain became too much. They only hurt on the impact from landing and sensitive to touch. Walking is just find and so is doing calf raises or standing on toes/pushing off. I'm on the 3rd day of rest and I've been massaging and stretching but still can't even do a light jog. Is this a calf strain or something else because I didn't feel a pop or anything and I know it's from overuse and too much intensity too fast. It just feels like they can't handle the pressure of landing. I want this recovery to be over asap as I need to get back to training.

      Could be a mild strain but it's difficult to say for sure without an examination. If you want to get back as fast as possible, see a qualified practitioner in your area for assessment & treatment. There may be issues with your stride and/or footwear contributing to the problem and a trained professional can help you sort those out.

      @@painfixprotocol Thanks for the reply Doc. It took about 10 days of rest before I could begin training again. I think the muscles were just damaged too much. I also attribute it to switching from a 8 mm heel drop to a 5 mm heel drop in shoes. I went back to the 8 mm drop and made sure to massage the calves and stretch after every run. Haven't had a problem since besides usually soreness but haven't really done much speed work yet. 💪

    I recently jumped up to put some clothes in a hard to reach area in my closet and fell back down somewhat awkwardly. My calf muscles feel like they have a knot in them, especially with the right calf muscle. I still feel tightness in my right calf muscle but started to think it should be better by now since it has been over 3 weeks. Thinking about getting an ultrasound to rule out anything else. Feel like I am going overboard but have never had something like this happen.

      this should be the caveat up front. plenty of practical videos out there for recovery from 0 hrs to 72hrs +, including PRICE + massage + strengthening

    Strain or tear?

    • @painfixprotocol
      @painfixprotocol  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The words are synonymous. The word strain specifies that the tear occurred in muscle tissue.
