    Most video instructors either have no assistant or just random players. Your wife, Katrina supports your teaching role in a very professional way in your videos. Her quality feeds and exchanges makes your videos stand apart from all others.

    For all the comments about the paddle spins Jordan does - if you come from tennis it's a habit you might build because you typically have different grips for forehands and backhands. You will build muscle memory quickly finding the right bevel on your grip subconsciously. I do the same thing and here is my reasoning:
    1 - It helps reset my grip positioning during a point. I switch between eastern and continental during points on the forehand side to get easier topspin when time allows. A quick flick can ensure you have the grip you think you have.
    2 - It keeps my hands from getting as sweaty so I have a grip that is less prone to slipping as I play.
    3 - It resets your grip pressure and forces your wrist to relax. It's easy to tense up as a point progresses and this can be a quick, subtle way to reset grip pressure. Often I will have my paddle in my off hand until just before a point starts to keep my paddle wrist and grip as relaxed and dry as possible.

    I really like your videos and get lots of great pointers and information from them. I do have one constructive critique that applies to many of your videos, particularly videos about stopping pop-ups, making reset shots, dealing with bangers, etc. ... when you show examples of those situations in your videos, the speed of the ball is unrealistically slow for even a mediocre player like myself. Even at my ~3.5 level, bangers, attacking shots at the feet and third shot drives are hit MUCH faster than you demonstrate in your videos (and I'm not talking about shots that are headed out). That difference between your demonstrations and the actual play I encounter limits my ability to fully apply your outstanding lessons. Thanks and keep 'em coming!

    • @BrionesPickleball
      @BrionesPickleball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tom, I get this comment all the time. I play at the pro level, and have coached hundreds of players from all over the country. Everything in this video (if applied) will allow you to reset balls that are coming at full speed. Technique is so key, and is what this video focuses on. I will make a video in the future of fast balls hit at me, but just so you know, my technique and approach will be the same, as I drop balls and slow them down on the dime 😊

    Great video Jordan I always look forward to your content. Congrats on joining the Selkirk team. What are your thoughts on the Power Air you are using? I know it has power and spin. But how long did it take you to get used to the soft game with it? Is it controllable for 4.0 level players.

    • @BrionesPickleball
      @BrionesPickleball  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is controllable, but definitely a power/spin paddle. If you are an all touch player, it will take some getting used to.

    Where the ball goes boils down to paddle angle and how hard it's hit.

    Why do you spin the paddle?

  • @pickleballcoachdale3689
    @pickleballcoachdale3689 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the more novice players I like to add that they need to check their grip because often they end up with the paddle at the wrong angle because they aren't aware of their grip. Wrong angle is more common with novices, along with all three of Jordan's mentioned.

Also, the ONE shot that I think would absolutely transform one’s game, is the reset shot. If you don’t have the touch and control to hit a reset shot, you’ll be stuck at 3.5 forever.
