I’ve found that the secret to overcoming lust is to understand what lust truly is. It is a desire in a man’s (or woman) heart, that will not go away unless the man believes that it can go away (which it can through Jesus). I think the other key is understanding the immense beauty that is man and woman made in the image of God (which God called very good). Let us not consume that image in a perverted way, but let us acknowledge that it is very good. Let us in no way, take what God said is very good and call it a temptation. “….each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his OWN lust…” (James 1:14) Gods creation in the form of a woman (or man) made in the image of God is not an image of temptation, nor should it be seen as such by people who profess the name of Christ. There is TRUE freedom to be found from sin. Through Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin. This is a truth that we MUST believe. Amen!

I forget who said it, but I heard that "fighting" lust is not the way to go. 99% of battles with lust will result in failure and sin. The best way to get rid of sexualization in our brain is to run from it. Guard our hearts, eyes, and brain. The further we get from these sins, the least likely we are to commit them. Don't even let the word come to your mind. Yes, first and foremost the Bible says that. Like in 1 Corinthians 6:18 it says to flee sexual immorality. I’ve heard it preached before too that sexual immorality/lust is such a powerful enemy that even God Himself tells us to RUN from it instead of sticking around to fight it. Think about how Joseph ran from Potiphar’s wife. Like when it comes to the devil, God will say things like “resist the devil and he will flee from you” but if it comes to us in a battle with sex/ lust He is like ‘just leave!’. One thing that helped me with lust is imagining the thoughts as clouds passing by. Unfortunately we can’t control everything that pops into our heads while we are in the process of overcoming lust, but we CAN control how long we think about it and how far it goes. I’d have an inappropriate thought, and instead of beating myself up over it, I just let the thought pass by and not go any further as I watch it drift away. After that I’d ask Jesus for help to overcome those thoughts and to help me cast them away. I am not perfect but I am much better than where I was
Praying for all my brothers and sisters out there to stay strong. I’m 50 days free and feeling amazing. Last time I was this far in was in March and it’s been a struggle since up until this point. I’ve got your back in prayer! Friend, let me encourage you with this: we cannot work our way into heaven. Being saved is by faith alone, not our good deeds! (Ephesians 2:8-9). Yes, God calls us to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:16), but we can never do it on our own! It is the Holy Spirit that leads us in living a godly life. One verse that has really encouraged me is Galatians 5:16: “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” Trust me, I know it’s hard to resist temptation at times, but that I why we have to be deep in the Word! It is our weapon! Satan is constantly attacking us with lies, and how can we fight back if we don’t know the truth? As you continue to seek God and His will, He will increase your understanding. Things will start to make more sense. It’s okay to doubt, but don’t drown in your worries. Go to God and surrender them to Him. He’s got you. “I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.” Psalms 16:8

I was such a lustful child due to all the satanic content I was exposed to as a child, even doing sinful things frequently. I wanted to change completely from my ways, but Satan keeps attacking me. I want to change and grow from my actions of the past, long, distant past.

Repentance is NOT saying "sorry." That is only part of repentance but that isn't the whole thing. When you come to repent you MUST truly reflect on your actions and think about what did you feel when you were tempted? Was your heart beating faster then normal? What kind of thoughts did you have during temptation? What did you do when you were tempted? Did you try to reason with those thoughts? Did you choose to run to God and flee from sexual/immoral sin? Or did you choose you to give you heart to the devil? You see a lot of "Christians" only say sorry but they don't mean it. I used to do the same thing until I realized that part of having faith in Christ is by following his example and to truly repent I must CHNAGE MY BEHAVIOR!! learn = change of behavior not processing info. You see I recommend that you read "Purity is Power", Atomic Habits, and the Bible. To overcome sexual perversion, sexual sin, lust, and even adultery... You must #1 FLEE FROM LUST, FLEE/RUN AWAY FROM TEMPATION DON'T REASON WITH IT. did Jesus reason with the devil? HECK NO, Jesus didn't dwell on it he used scripture. But I highly advise that you not only flee from lust, but you also CUT OFF anyway or any means that can lead you to sin... What leads you to sin? What gets you access to P? Phone? Tablet? Mac? Computer? When you are tempted, run away from it, cut off all sources that lead to sin, and RUN TO GOD, and pray to him speak to him about what your feeling. That's how you will beat it. You must give your heart to God instead of Satan which is something that Purty of power speaks of. You must also adopt a change of lifestyle and keep yourself busy throughout the day by working on your goals. That can be business, job, hobbies, reading, socializing, but I do say don't stay too much on screens.

That healing and transformation can only come from the regenerative transformation of the Word. Filling our minds with the Word is so important. God has asked me to give up so many things that I had no idea played a role. It started with my choice books (now I read Christian fiction and clean fiction mostly), then the songs I listen to, the way I play my video games, and TH-cam content 😅 I want to remind everybody to surround yourselves with Godly things EVERYWHERE. I think it’s so important that you brought up adult and kids shows being sexualized because I think people underestimate how rampant it is. Even in circles where a lot of people don’t even realize how bad it they’ve involved themselves. @@demaniage Yep that definitely helps I did it last night and it worked. I just started talking to God about my day and how I love him and appreciate him and eventually I fell asleep. Just talk to him casually, you don't have to hide anything because he knows everything🥰.
Maybe pray or read the Bible before bed. Any time I read the Bible I feel so much closer to God and I imagine he is in the room with me. It is much harder for me to fall into sin that way. Wishing you the best ❤

Writing down things or taking a deep breath, napping, spending time with The Holy One(He is truly trustworthy), listening to music that could make you feel happy, walking, coloring, thinking of things to be grateful like counting blessings, FORGIVING is great, or drinking water can also help. I think “taking your phone into the bathroom” is too vague. It confuses me how being in the bathroom can lead to a sexual sin. Possibly because I am a woman, I do not understand the problem with bringing a phone into the bathroom or the shower

yes, always run. But remember you're running TOWARDS God, whilst running away. If you're just running, you might find yourself back where you started.

I was such a lustful child due to all the satanic content I was exposed to as a child, even doing sinful things frequently. I wanted to change completely from my ways, but Satan keeps attacking me. I want to change and grow from my actions of the past, long, distant past.
Yeah when you are exposed to that as a child is ruins the mindset you have of everything sexual before even knowing what sex was made for. I dealt with the same thing

Repentance is NOT saying "sorry." That is only part of repentance but that isn't the whole thing. When you come to repent you MUST truly reflect on your actions and think about what did you feel when you were tempted? Was your heart beating faster then normal? What kind of thoughts did you have during temptation? What did you do when you were tempted? Did you try to reason with those thoughts? Did you choose to run to God and flee from sexual/immoral sin? Or did you choose you to give you heart to the devil? You see a lot of "Christians" only say sorry but they don't mean it. I used to do the same thing until I realized that part of having faith in Christ is by following his example and to truly repent I must CHNAGE MY BEHAVIOR!! learn = change of behavior not processing info. You see I recommend that you read "Purity is Power", Atomic Habits, and the Bible. To overcome sexual perversion, sexual sin, lust, and even adultery... You must #1 FLEE FROM LUST, FLEE/RUN AWAY FROM TEMPATION DON'T REASON WITH IT. did Jesus reason with the devil? HECK NO, Jesus didn't dwell on it he used scripture. But I highly advise that you not only flee from lust, but you also CUT OFF anyway or any means that can lead you to sin... What leads you to sin? What gets you access to P? Phone? Tablet? Mac? Computer? When you are tempted, run away from it, cut off all sources that lead to sin, and RUN TO GOD, and pray to him speak to him about what your feeling. That's how you will beat it. You must give your heart to God instead of Satan which is something that Purty of power speaks of. You must also adopt a change of lifestyle and keep yourself busy throughout the day by working on your goals. That can be business, job, hobbies, reading, socializing, but I do say don't stay too much on screens.

That sin has been with me for five years… and it started to feel normal. I’ve never told anyone accept my parents at the very beginning and I didn’t even give them the full story. Thank you! This is so true. I had been 5 months clean from masturbation and recently fell into sin again. God began to show me that my mind still needs healing to continue the process. That healing and transformation can only come from the regenerative transformation of the Word.
Filling our minds with the Word is so important. God has asked me to give up so many things that I had no idea played a role. It started with my choice books (now I read Christian fiction and clean fiction mostly), then the songs I listen to, the way I play my video games, and TH-cam content 😅 I want to remind everybody to surround yourselves with Godly things EVERYWHERE. #2 CUT OFF ANYWAY THAT LEADS YOU TO SIN. What sources lead you to sin, how do you access P? Phone? Tablet? Computer?
#3 when tempted DON'T DWELL on it don't just sit and contemplate.
#4 Run to God, pray to God, and tell him everything your feeling, and pray and give your HEART to God. Tell him "Lord I give you everything that doesn't come from you. Please free me from this passion of lust I feel in my heart, liberate my mind from all the kinds of images and videos I used to watch."
#5 if you fall into temptation don't just go to God and say "I'm sorry." Sorry ain't gonna cut it man, you MUST REFLECT on what led you to make that decision. Jesus spoke about prayer and meditating on prayer. You must think about what you feel when your tempted, what your thoughts are when your tempted, and what is it that you do when your tempted? Do you contemplate on those thoughts?
#6 read Purity is Power, atomic Habits, and the Bible. AND APPLY WHAT IT TEACHES. I will say that in summary of Purity is Power, it speaks about "giving your heart to God" when your tempted. Because if you give your heart to Satan when you are tempted then at that point you would be serving Satan rather than Christ. You would be choosing to hug sin instead of letting it go and running away from it. YOU CANNOT WIN, ONLY GOD CAN THAT'S WHY YOU RUN. IT IS Written TO FLEE FROM Youthful LUST AND PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS

I think it’s so important that you brought up adult and kids shows being sexualized because I think people underestimate how rampant it is. Even in circles where a lot of people don’t even realize how bad it they’ve involved themselves. I came from those spaces where I was constantly going “at least I’m not as deep as those other people” while I was actively sinking till God snatched me up by my scruff and I’m so thankful he loves me so much.
