Seth, I am a big fan but this take on politics is embarrassing and juvenile. It’s okay to have an opinion, and it’s okay to choose not to express it. You could have either:
      1) Not said anything at all. DC is a city and despite it being the seat of government, most people are just living their lives like anywhere else. Not saying anything is fine.
      2) Explained that while you have an opinion, talking about politics at your job isn’t what you do, which is also fine.
But comparing your political take to edgelord cartoons and saying you hate “both sides” is cringe and juvenile.

      @@FullSenderson Dude! Are you serious?!?
Seth summed up America’s political landscape flawlessly!
Bikes are the equalizer, if you’re on a bike, you’re cool with me.
If someone wants to be a butthole to me on account of politics, it’s on them!
In today’s political climate “any” comment will be considered “controversial” or “Divisive”. Ol’ Bike Hacker played the Joker card because Jokers are wild! Make up your own mind and have your own take!
      Peace!

true, but since it is the center of those decisions, I'd imagine the variety of protests that can occur make it feel divided at times, even though that's not the people of the city itself but rather people coming in from around the country. I've only ever been to DC a few times, and each of those times there were larger protests of both sides, and that does paint a dividing image. But you are right that we need to remember that doesn't represnt the city or people as a whole.

DC is a great city and incredibly bike friendly which is why I love living here. Not sure what's so "confused" about it. There's a lot of rich culture and history (not just "American" history but local history) that gets overlooked because most people just focus on the fact that it's the nation's capital. I love the content for the most part, but going on so much about being "non-partisan" felt more derisive than just sticking to your opening statement of showing how DC is just like any other city, and that is very clear by all the politic-ing happening in the comments section. Politics is such a buzz word, when the political is truly personal. The focus shouldn't be on "politics" which desensitizes people to the personal impact of policy-making, but on community building, which is at the very core of DC culture and has contributed a lot to the great biking infrastructure here.
Next time you're here, I recommend going to a random carry out joint for mambo sauce and wings, or hitting up el rinconcito cafe for Salvadoran food (although the fried fish at the pupuseria you happened across looked fire). Some go-go music in the background would also be fire :) As many others have mentioned, C&O Canal is also great.

Lots and lots of city bike lanes and so many nature filled rides, such as the one off of the Anacostia River you rode and stashed the camera. You can ride all over the city and not have to ride in the streets "with" the cars. I moved to London after DC and can only say it is by far the worst city I have ever biked in. It must be nice to have the luxury of not having an opinion. As a Mexican immigrant, there is one party that has called immigrants like me rapists and criminals. And even if this person meant only the undocumented ones, this person still said they murder because it's in their genes. As in, also my genes. So for me, somebody who thinks "yeah, that sounds reasonable, I can vote for that person" is not really somebody I have much of a desire to exchange ideas with. South Park libertarianism is great if you pretend both sides are equally moral or equally immoral. It affords you the luxury of pretending you're above all the fighting and the arguing, but the reality is that people like that are just too afraid to pick a side, or even say they've picked a side. I would have respected Seth a lot more if he just said "I have opinions about this stuff, I'm just not going to share them here".
And yes, I also work with people from the other party. A person that voted for the other party was even the person I picked to take care of my daughter when she was in surgery. I can get along with them, I can completely avoid politics conversations so we can remain good coworkers. But deep down inside, I know that this person voted for somebody who openly hates people like me, and because of that, we'll never be friends. At best, we are friendly coworkers.

What an unexpected surprise for me to learn Seth was in the DC area! I JUST biked in some of the areas shown on the video last weekend! I definitely would have recognized Seth since I am a subscriber and I know exactly where the park is he hid the capsule in. I took note of a unique looking tree too as a landmark because I had planned to look for the capsule but it’s already gone according to some other comments I read. I’m a DC native and an Air Force vet who bikes since running is no longer an option due to running injuries I got in the military. It’s great seeing DC from an outsiders point of view. It’s a very bike friendly city connected to great trails in Virginia and Maryland. I love how they found a great mom and pop place to eat because other parts of the city were “too bougie”! I laughed out loud when Seth said that!

Museums and historical sites made it worth it. Dealing with the police was not horrible. However, they towed every single car on an entire road. Without any notification whatsoever.Luckily the police warned us and our car did not get moved to another part of a city.I do not know... can't wait to go back and continue to check out all the trucks and stuff we missed.

Your closing thoughts gave a very "both parties are the same" vibe which feels a bit disingenuous. And I get it, your platform needs to make money. But instead of the verbal throw your hands in the air why not talk about how to get involved and how things wont change unless we do. Only 1/2 of people age 18 -24 are registered to vote and even less than that do cast a ballot. Young people need to educate themselves and show up and they could change the world.

Kinda comes off as "Look at me, I'm so smart and better than these crazy people arguing over ""random"" things", Like, just don't talk about it if you don't have anything to say. It's nice that someone in your position to not care about politics and not be affected by who's in charge, but some people's lives are forced to be political simply because they exist, so stop trying to make it sound like you're some 400iq centrist who thinks both sides are bad.
