I loved how she said you have to feel your body after you eat something. I just ate some bread pudding and I feel the heaviness. I get it now. Thank you for this video.
I recently discovered Ayurvedic after researching a holistic way to improve my overall health but mainly my heart condition. I've been reading more each day and I completed the Dosh Quiz and apparently I am a Kapha type. The qualities / characteristics are spot on and this video is so informative. Unfortunately, all my favourite foods / tastes are in the 'decrease' column and just when I thought I eat a balanced diet :/ ...this video really puts things into perspective in terms of what you feed your body directly correlates with how your body and brain performs.
Claire (the person speaking in this video) has an incredible book called Living Ayurveda. Highly recommend. I’m surprised they don’t mention her name in the title, but recognized her on the video photo.
Yes, you're right this is Claire Ragozzino! She introduces herself at the top of the video just as the lower-thirds roll in with her full name. I hope that helps. Her book Living Ayurveda is indeed a wealth of information. Thank you for bringing that to light! Here is the link to her website and book: vidyaliving.com/book/
Very good information ✅ I am a VATA-KAPHA I was born very little and my parents made me overweight with the wrong food. I am feeling amazing and I have a great sleep and digestion, But I have a large stomach. I am a short torso long legs and arms
I'm a Pitta-Kapha normally, but decreased in Pitta and elevated in Kapha. I just haven't felt like myself since cohabitating/eating with a Kapha. When I felt balanced I had a common breakfast of cup of cooked amaranth with tablespoon of dried cranberries and crystallized ginger. Perfectly sweet and warm. Snacks I saw as moist were probably cooling: strawberries, cucumbers, peppers sliced. I did massage and they were a lifesaver in heavy shifts. And I always preferred to eat well for breakfast and heavier for lunch, while lightest at dinner. I'm all out of whack now, and back in school.
We're sorry to hear that you are out of balance again! The best way to get back on the path to balance is to start with small steps that you can easily fit in to your daily routine. Then, gently expand your routine with more balancing practices. Start small, start easy, and enjoy the process.
Just received my order of Kapha Balancing herbs and massage oils from Banyan Botanicals. So excited to feel unblocked in my sinuses and my general feelings of "flow". I have a question. I live where it is hot and humid all year. The thought of eating hot foods more often is not appealing to me. Any suggestions for using fruits and veggies predominantly. I make soups around once or twice a month, but mostly eat smoothies, and salads all year. Mahalo for this great video.

The amount of protein one needs is dependent on the individual, though all doshas can benefit from protein. Vata and pitta doshas may need more, as would people who exercise regularly. Again, it's highly dependent upon the individual and something to connect with your Ayurvedic practitioner about.
I am thin, being a tridoshic type with extreme Vata imbalance, but do feel excessively heavy after overeating. Eating smaller quantities of heavy, nourishining would reduce annd ease my urge to push through and eat all of a meal, which is my Pitta imbalance.I do believe, and was told, that it is best i do not skip meals,so eating something lighter like stewed fruits is a wonderful idea. i do want to soften and build the body a little more,so any suggestions is welcome.
Thank you for sharing your experience! You seem to be very in tune with the subtle and not-to-subtle bodily cues that clue you in to what is balancing for you. Continue honing that skill, as indeed the more you pay attention, the more you'll readily recognize steps to take to come more into balance.
You mentioned that sweet and fruit overall should be limited, but you gave fruit options for breakfast...so is it okay to eat raw fresh fruits for breakfast everyday, like mango and berries? Also, are potatoes okay to consume regularly since potatoes are a root vegetable after all? What root vegetables should be avoided then? You also said hot cereals should be avoided since they are smooth, but that was also a breakfast recommendation...I'm confused.
Thanks for asking and sorry for the confusion. Many fruits are aggravating for kapha because of their natural sweetness, but mangos and berries are better fruit choices for this dosha because they have the astringent taste. Ayurveda recommends eating fruits by themselves, at least 30 minutes or an hour before eating other food for best digestion. Potatoes are generally good for kapha, but sweet potatoes or yams can be kapha-aggravating. As for hot cereal, the kind suggested in this video is more balancing for kapha because of its inclusion of kapha balancing spices. We hope that helps clear up some of the confusion!
I'm confused. In one clip, you said that olive oil is not suitable for Kapha dosha; in another clip, you suggested sauteing with olive oil. Will you please explain how and when olive oil is appropriate to use.
Kapha dominant constitutions would do well limiting the amount of heavier oils in their diet, but as with any balanced diet, a little bit here and there won’t throw off Kapha altogether. Thanks for asking and apologies for the confusion. Many root vegetables are aggravating to kapha, especially when they contain the sweet taste. Hi there! Thank you for tuning in! Not every one person fits in the same box that's why specific diets can be tricky sometimes because they are not designed specifically for you, this is one of the reasons Ayurveda is great, it allows each one of us to be the unique individual we are.
Keto totally messed my body up! That's why I do the ayurvedic approach now. It's the only thing that has helped since coming off of keto.
Nice reading of script
I don't know why but when I eat my breakfast or lunch I feel sleepy but the same situation doesn't exist when I eat my dinner.

Really low volume
Thank you for letting us know Anshu, we appreciate the feedback!
Don't you have volume controls on your pc ?
Agreed! Even at the highest setting its not easy to hear you. You are so softspoken, which is lovely, but can you adjust the volume in post production?
I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I have a noisy fan in listening to this on my iPhone and I could hear her clearly. Thank you for the informative video!
I can’t wrap my head around how salt is oily and moist, when it’s clearly rough and drying 😂
ive always loved lots of garlic and onions in my cooking but have been told these are not pranic positive foods and are not good for people who wish to have a more satvic diet ? im getting so confused with ayurvedic food information , it all seems so contradictory at this point ? not sure what to believe ? lol
Great questions! There certainly is a lot of information regarding an Ayurvedic diet, but eating foods that support your constitution or your Agni type can be helpful. Ultimately, it's what feels most supportive for you!
i've just red that somewhere
Does anyone else have trouble hearing this video? I have my volume all the way up and cannot hear her very well.

Sucks to be kapha no matter all the positive things people say. It’s so hard to be one. So many rules dos and donts it’s frustrating
We understand the frustrations that Kapha dosha can bring. However, there are so many reasons to love the grounding Kapha elements we possess. Check out our article on four such reasons to love Kapha www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/blog-the-banyan-insight/details/4-reasons-to-love-kapha-dosha/ 💚
@@banyanbotanicals I love being a kapha... its the bomb once you know how to harness and balance it
@@gatkillah2473 So lovely! Kapha dosha has many beautiful qualities, indeed. 🌱
Seriously? At least when you are a kapha, you can eat pungent foods that add a lot of interest and assist the body. Try being a pitta kapha, then you cannot have pungent at all!
I'm on this diet and I think it's going to kill me.

Does anybody that she was like a robot????? Because she was reading off the transcript for dear life. But yeah made it very hard to concentrate
Thank you for your feedback! 💚
Yes, very distracting and robotic. And dropping into a whisper at the end of sentences caused missed information. Irritating.
This video is straight telling me to not eat anything I like ever again
This is a joke
Haha, I know it can feel like that sometimes. Thanks for tuning in!
LOW VOICE . IT IS BAD TO UNDERSTAND .
Sorry to hear you're having trouble understanding the video. We suggest watching with the closed captions turned on, or visiting this written resource on our website which covers a lot of the same information: www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/kapha-pacifying-diet/
It was informative, but her voice and looks are a real sleeping pill.
Thank you for the helpful feedback, we will certainly take this into consideration for future videos.
Can I eat eggs seaweed and avacado ?
Great question! Eggs can be okay in moderation, but the other two may work to increase kapha in the system. You might check out our kapha pacifying foods list for more guidance www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/kapha-pacifying-foods/
What about berries?
Berries are great for kapha!
