Thanks for this - solved the problem on a Mac too! The folder is not called Common Files on a Mac, but Application Support > Abobe. I created a folder inside there called Fonts, dragged in a copy of the fonts that weren't loading properly (in After Effects in my case - strangely they had been working fine before this work around in Illustrator and Photoshop) and then magically, they finally were showing up in After Effects. Thanks for the tip
It's sept. 2024 , and this video saved my nights. So much frustration because of such a simple thing , but you guys know how desperate you can be when you need that ONE specific font. Hope you get kindness and help as you provided for us. God bless you!
You're a lifesaver! I suddenly noticed this issue with the Jazz Ball font while working in Illustrator. I absolutely had to use the regular weight for a project but "bold" was the only option. Wasted a good 2 hours of my life trying to find a solution until I finally came across this video! Thanks so much!

This trick is insane. I went nuts the past 2 days trying to make it work with just Windows Fonts...This is so simple and works like a charm. Thanks so much for this video because all the official help forums from the big companies are as always a major pain in the a** if you ever encounter problems like these.

My goodness you have saved me, I was going a bit crazy, my fonts were like fine and one day certain specific parts of fonts dissappeared, like "Bold" or "Itallic" I deleted and reinstalled Adobe, I deleted and reinstalled all the fonts in question and it just did nothing, the font was always missing. I was almost ready to give up, and I found your video. It worked and now my pc sees the font. I have no idea what is going on here, But thank you so much

i refused to believe that adobe cant handle helvetica, as so much blog posts have said when i searched for this problem, then i found your video, i dont exactly understand HOW it works but it work and thats enough for me, thank you!
First, thank you for this video! Second, if using an older version of Adobe software (Illustrator CS4 in my case), you'll need to place the fonts in a different location. Instead of "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\" try C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\" (replace username in brackets with your actual username).
CS5 here. Font worked fine in photoshop via regular windows .otf install, but wouldn't show in illustrator. I put it in both places above and didn't work. Removed the .otf and installed the .ttf and it worked.
I have exactly the same problem with Premiere and After Effects. Source Sans Pro is installed evrywhere but Regular and some others aren't showing up. Light and Semibold are fine. Then I found you're video and was so happy to see that someone could solve the problem. Unfortunately it didn't do it for me. Installed it in the programs-folder, the programs (x86) and even in the Roaming folder like it was mentioned in another comment below. The Adobe programmers seem to have screwed something else up in the 2023.1 build. So I have to look for others ways. Will come back and report if I found a way. - - - - - - - - Edit: Seem to have found a way. Not sure which one it was. Had several versions of the Adobe programs installed. Deinstalled them. Did restart the PC. Check in the Windows Fonts folder for the Font. Found some. Deleted them and reinstalled just the one, I was missing. And (I suspect that might have done the trick) I put it into the folder [Username]>AppData>Local>Adobe>Fonts. Let's hope it still works tomorrow. Edit 2: No it doesn't. The font is showing up in the dropdown menu but I can't write anything in it. This is getting way more than annoying. #adobe Edit 3: Got it working again, at least for the moment. Under the path: [Username]>AppData>Roaming>Adobe> is a folder called User Owend Fonts. There the font was missing. Hopefully it's the solution now. Will keep editing this comment, if it goes down the hole again. Edit 4: Now, a few weeks later it was gone again. Now I just did, what is described in the video above (deactive fonts in Adobe Cloud and then reactivate it) and it showed up again . I guess this time it worked for me because I did all the previous steps.
Thank you for the help. I had hoped that this would fix my issue using another program, it did not, but it did give me an idea. By remaking the font using a site, I was able to re-install the new version and my program was able to read it. So this video helped me indirectly. Thanks!
You're a god among men, the hopelessness this bizarre problem gave me when I realised I had no idea what to do, to the pure relief after I tried this and it worked... my god thank you for bothering to record this and upload it
Additional Font Issue Fix: Perhaps you mentioned this, but users may also need to reselect the font once the font has been downloaded to the font's original file location on your PC. [ Font still did not show up after moving "Fonts" file. ] If that doesn't work, and you decide to move the "Fonts" file under Adobe common files as suggested in the video, select the new font from the dropdown as I mention above. One way or the other, you should be good to go.
I had an issue with Illustrator not having the font, but photoshop has it so i took a photoshop file with words in the font i want and opened it in illustrator then copied it over. Just putting this here in case anyone else has the same problem, hopefully it might help.
