But I really enjoyed being surprised on multiple levels. I agree with comments. So I add my own, I found it to be refreshing and I can't wait for a second book. Loved it. Had a few tears, lots of goofy grins and a chuckle or two reading this. I was a little disappointed about the Duke angle. I really liked Henry Gardner. I wonder why female readers want to read about a poor girl marrying a super rich guy. Why can't it just ever be a normal guy... sigh.

Loved the story and the narration. Most regency novels have little dialogue between characters and more of monologue thinking by the heroine of the story. Your story was so refreshing in that way. Waiting to read more from you..

I've Read thousands of books. In the last few years I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks. I'm a very critical reader and listener, and I've quit many audiobooks because the narration was so bad. Your book is perfection❣️ The narration is perfect 😊There were no flaws in pronunciation and intonation, and I completely enjoyed every word. I laughed, I wept many times~ especially when the book was finished and I found that there are no more ready. This is an amazing audiobook! I must say this is the best regency novel I've had the pleasure of reading or listening to. Very well done! The narrator brought the characters to life most beautifully. I can't wait for my next read from you. Thank you.
I'm horrifically critical of any regency romance novel I start... and seriously can find no fault in this book. This one has sooo exceeded my expectations! Like, one comment said this was their favorite by far.... But dang! It's turning into mine too! I seriously love this book So I just finished this book and I am still smiling! From the very first this story sucked me in and kept me there the entire almost 6 hours... I think that is my only complaint about this story - it was too dang short - and the ending (this is one - not two complaints - cuz it's all in the same area) the ending was too dang quick! All the rest here are spoilers - so cover your eyes as you read it! I wish there would have been more of her in her new life. Adjusting to being a lady, her getting to know her parents and them laughing over stuff, finding things that she takes after in each parent, etc., also, how their neighbors and friends adjusted or didn't adjust to their actress/daughter... And especially the staff at her new house with her parents - how they all got along... and her missing the guy that whole year, thinking he was married and crying over him, etc... I just wish there would have been more - and more explanation of why she never replied to her friend's letters... I felt like the two girls' friendship was the basis for this entire book... and yet, at the end... all that was so much skipped over. That quick ending with so much left out was my only complaint... everything else was so wonderfully funny and there were even bits where I cried! (gasp!) I loved how there were so few regency romance novel cliches! and funny - did I say already how funny the book was! Just such a really really well written, well thought out book. OH! Dang! Forgot another thing that I loved about this book! No SEX! I think authors just can't think of enough to go on in their books, so, too often, they rely heavily on sex scenes to get the number of pages they need - it's kinda sad... but there it is. Another thing I really really liked about this author was the way they wrote and made it sound like a Bronte or J Austin wrote it - the language - the way characters talked and acted! This was such a joy to listen to! Loved every minute of it!

I love this book! I’ve listened several times now and I still want to listen again. Have you ever thought about writing this story again from Ash’s point of view? Every time I listen, I wonder what is going on in the Duke’s head. Where does he go after he drops off Lucy a mile away from his home? What is he thinking after meeting Lucy? Does he realize she is the one who he blamed for Arabella’s troubles at the seminary? When Lucy first sees him as the Duke what is he thinking when he has to put on an aloof attitude? What is he thinking when he looks for the marbles? You are an amazing writing and brought these characters to life! And I appreciate the clean stories! Thank you again. PS: I wish I could like this as many times as I listen!

I think that is my only complaint about this story - it was too dang short - and the ending (this is one - not two complaints - cuz it's all in the same area) the ending was too dang quick!
All the rest here are spoilers - so cover your eyes as you read it! I wish there would have been more of her in her new life. Adjusting to being a lady, her getting to know her parents and them laughing over stuff, finding things that she takes after in each parent, etc., also, how their neighbors and friends adjusted or didn't adjust to their actress/daughter... And especially the staff at her new house with her parents - how they all got along... and her missing the guy that whole year, thinking he was married and crying over him, etc... I just wish there would have been more - and more explanation of why she never replied to her friend's letters... I felt like the two girls' friendship was the basis for this entire book... and yet, at the end... all that was so much skipped over.
That quick ending with so much left out was my only complaint... everything else was so wonderfully funny and there were even bits where I cried! (gasp!) I loved how there were so few regency romance novel cliches! and funny - did I say already how funny the book was! Just such a really really well written, well thought out book.
OH! Dang! Forgot another thing that I loved about this book! No SEX! I think authors just can't think of enough to go on in their books, so, too often, they rely heavily on sex scenes to get the number of pages they need - it's kinda sad... but there it is.
Another thing I really really liked about this author was the way they wrote and made it sound like a Bronte or J Austin wrote it - the language - the way characters talked and acted!
This was such a joy to listen to! Loved every minute of it!

I love this book! I’ve listened several times now and I still want to listen again. Have you ever thought about writing this story again from Ash’s point of view? Every time I listen, I wonder what is going on in the Duke’s head. Where does he go after he drops off Lucy a mile away from his home? What is he thinking after meeting Lucy? Does he realize she is the one who he blamed for Arabella’s troubles at the seminary? When Lucy first sees him as the Duke what is he thinking when he has to put on an aloof attitude? What is he thinking when he looks for the marbles? You are an amazing writing and brought these characters to life! And I appreciate the clean stories! Thank you again. PS: I wish I could like this as many times as I listen!
