Lol! The intro got me good 💀Honestly no need to be hard on yourself. This looked good to me! I've been designing enclosures for decades now, so it just comes naturally.
You should do an enclosure for death-feigning beetles. I’ve been wanting to do mine bioactive, but I have no clue how to do that in a desert setup. I’ve only seen you do one desert setup that I can recall (the recent bearded dragon one- which was great). I’d would be great to see another example, especially on a smaller scale.
It's hard to beat Tanner at his game, don't worry. Staying bioactive really helps with maintenance though. Basically nothing has to be done to the system, despite from taking out leftover food and occasionally adding water. Humidity will always be nicely regulated and the plants will do very well on their own.
Hahaha I got so excited when Tanner posted his vid about the wolf spider, and I pleaded with him to seriously consider more creepy crawlies! I know Ts don't need big living quarters given how they live in the wild, but I'd LOVE to see a 6ft tall jungle enclosure that housed an arboreal.. even if only 1% of the space was ever utilised by the T. I'd of course be worried about falls, and how to feed it sufficiently.. but just having a literal chunk of rainforest - minus natural predators - as home for a T would be beyond awesome!
Maybe fall damage to arboreals could be mitigated by plants? Real big leafy ones, smaller tarantulas might straight up be caught by the leaves while it’d definitely break the fall of bigger ones. That’s how I imagine they avoid falling to their deaths in the wild, anyway, since they have to survive that _somehow_ in the wild or they’d not exist 😂 so I guess it’s all about figuring out how wild tarantulas do it?
Fantastic bioactive enclosure, Kat! Remember, there isn't a lot one can do in limited space (even in this magnificent XL crib) as you gotta account for the hide/burrow for big ol' Ts. I've endeavoured to do the same for my juvies in their 8" hex cribs.. put some real moss and an appropriately-sized plant while still giving the Ts room to grow for quite a while. I can't wait though until my babies are ready for an XL! And Helena is BEAUTIFUL!!! I pray that even just one of my 19 Aussie Ts grows up to be as beautiful and calm as her!
I love you guys having relationships like that! Also, just attended Repticon near Memphis, and got a new tarantula from a woman who has met you and Richard before and sold to you both! As soon as she said that we both spent a while fangirling lmfao
Kat. Don't compare yourself to anybody. There's no need to and It's just not possible, we're all individual and that's perfectly fine. It's making each of us unique and lovely in their own way. I'm coming here for the Kat content and I love the Kat content! Just the way it is. If I want to see Tanner's stuff I'm going over there and watch him doing his enclosures and ponds. But when I come here I want to watch the Kat stuff. So no need to change anything, yes? :) You're good the way you are.
I love your enclosures! I have learned so much from you and model all of my enclosures after yours! You’re the reason I have jumping spiders and tarantulas now. Thank you for introducing me to the wild hobby! I went from being terrified of spiders to having multiples. You’re awesome!
What an awesome enclosure for Helena! Please keep us updated on how she finally settles in. Also, when you got into the Tranhula Cribs box like an actual cat, I was done! DONE! I really needed that laugh.....
Serpa is actually my favorite channel. Tanner has helped step my enclosure game WAY up. I’ve been begging in comments for years to see a spider setup one day. Yours looks nice! I really think most tarantula keepers should move to this style of setup. I have about a dozen in fancy setups now, but most of my stuff is in shoeboxes due to space and breeding.
Oh my! I was so happy to see you putting a scindapsus in her gorgeous enclosure! I have one just like it on my living room table. Plant/tarantula ladies unite!
Phaha i just watched his video before this one as he came up in recommend was a fun video to watch. Just making me want to have a tarantula even more now
Gonna be honest Kat you don't need to create the best of the best. You create with the animals needs in mind. Thus far you kicked off more spider keepers keeping black widows, but you didnt just get a widow no you gave a proper enclosure with room to hide. I enjoy Petko and some other creators, but one thing that saddened me was the way they kept their widows. They need a place to hide not just open air with a few sticks you did sooo much there. As one who has found those spiders specifically in the wild your setup is GORGEOUS. That said your comparison reminds me of artists with different styles. One artist might envy the realistic creator while the realist might envy the stylized version another has. Meanwhile both artists are highly revered and they don't even know it 😂. You do great work its no good to compare, but its great to use others you enjoy to inspire a different style. Its not right or wrong it just is and as long as the animal is happy you did good 😌
Awesome new upgrade! Love your Pulchra. Another molt or two and my Pulchra, Minerva, will be getting a big upgrade as well. Just rehoused my Harpactira pulchripes into a medium Tarantula Cribs. I love all of your videos. Keep up the great work!
i thought about getting a scorpion or a tarantula since i was a child. But seeing the work that actually goes into making them happy. I dont think my lifestyle right now would suffice to be able to look after them, thank you Kat for stopping me from making a poor decision.
Your set ups are awesome too, Kat 😁😁 I must admit, I've tried to copy some of Tanner's ideas when setting up my fish tanks, and it just never goes to plan, lol xx
So good. Tarantula Kat you have your style and Tanner has his and I subscribe to both and love both styles (the accessible and the aspirational hahaha) - but my question is... Collab? Will be so good to see it if it happens!!
My female g pulchra does the same acrobatics just to make my heart race. Was considering getting the same xl t cribs but with the canopy top so she can climb on a log or something
I get it. I still get sad when I look at my bearded dragon and his cage next to the one from serpa 😢 asked him if he’s ever in the Netherlands to please help me upgrade my Beardy 😆
She is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! I have a G-Pulchra too (Inky) but a lot smaller. How old or how long did it take for Helena to grow to that size? Mine is about 3 y/o and about 3 inches. Keep up the great videos!!!!!! 🙂
On the Screen lid thing, I've never had a problem with screen lids! Even Dave's Little Beasties, stands by screen lids! He's been using them for nearly 30+ years and has never had any problems.. I believe, that, that these new T cribs, etc, are trying to sell off ,there awesome T homes? I have never seen one video, or photo of a T caught up on a screen lid! Would someone show one photo of a T caught up in a screen? Just 1?? Prove it! Please! Screen lids give max air flow!
I absolutely adore tarantula cribs for arid species. However, keeping more humid creatures tend to warp the lid just enough to make it difficult to slide and it starts scratching.
I think the enclosure turned out really nice! The thing I like most about tarantulas compared to a lot of other spiders is how much they make the enclosure their own with their webbing. No matter how well you plan it out and put it together, they've got their *own* plans!😅
This is luxury! Strait up hands down gorgeous enclosure, the crystals..THE CRYSTALS 🪬 🔷️🔹️💠🌿🍃🕷🕸🌱🍃🌿🌾 Helena you are so beautiful 😍 but wait...where da shroom 🍄? I dont know the lesson...

Are they going to come out with an XL Arboreal?
We have one available! It’s 18” tall

Yes, loved it, hilarious 😅😅

Kat being a typical cat. She fits so she sits. 😂

@@chelmastly5802"figuring out how they do it in the wild" reminds me of the Avicularia humidity fiasco. You're probably onto something
I’m sure there’s other animals they could safely cohabitate with. Like I’m zoos when a few species live together
😂 😂 😂 That was funny, great video. Comparing ones self to Serpa is a recipe for self loathing lol
lol yep 🥲
