After trying a few online courses, I completely agree. The thought of communicating through discords, forums and chats leaves me with a feeling of yelling into the void.
I had that type of experience in my animation program at community college. There weren’t a ton of people I had anything in common with there though, so I didn’t come out the other side with any friends, but it was inspiring to be around other creatives for the time being. I’m learning a hell of a lot more as an artist now, actually working in print and graphic design and running a small fine art business of my own.
This is Montessori method of teaching. Teaching from eachother. Im after art highschool and now Im in art education at uni. Now I can see how bad my education has been and what I lacked
I hope I would get to be in an art school in the future. The way you said it,working with other students and friends who are there, kinda sounds fun. Like we are working to be an artist together
And as an art student in a very difficult cohort that doesn't talk to each other at all, I totally agree, it's important. But it's a gamble, sometimes you get good people at your year in your uni, sometimes you don't Art communities could be found in other places tho

That’s one of the things I know I missed out on by not being able to access an animation school.
School or not is such a hard choice.
