    I have been working in wood for over sixty years, this is a superb video, using hand tools instead of expensive electrical alternative that appear in so many other posts. I thank you for taking the time to make this and for posting so that others may learn. May you and your loved ones live long and prosper.

    People post completely unnecessary negative and critical posts. At the least people could try and be nice and respectful about their comments. I wonder how much time they have taken out of there day to make a video that is only there to help others. Thank you Ognyan for taking time out of your day to post this helpful video.

    Absolutely perfect design for me. Fed up with other ideas using a lot of fiddly bits and having lots of room to use it. I’m a hobbyist crammed in a small garage with little room for storage. This idea is first class.

    Just in case anyone is wondering, the Makita base plate comes with #10 - 24tpi - 3/8" screws. I'll be using 1/2" ply for my router table and therefore will need 7/8" screws. Great video!

    Thanks for this. I viewed a few router table videos, and while there were some nice ones there-with bells and whistles, torsion box construction, precision jointing, well-equipped workshop required, etc, etc-when I saw this one with its simple construction and swinging fence, I looked no further. I just added a bolt and thumbscrew at the free end of the fence, the bolt swinging though a short closed arc cut into the base board, to let me easily lock the fence in place. And after my router dropped to the floor when I was setting it up for the first test, I added an anchor in the form of a soft coil spring with a quick-release clip at ether end, that I had in my junk box. It was either that, or go to IKEA and buy a nice cushion for the floor ;-)

    This video is for beginners like me that I'm just about to dedicate myself to DIY after my retirement and my third age. Thanks for thinking about us. I already have a masters degree as visitors of carpentry videos and I hope to soon nail my first nail. I'm just evaluating my first electric tools and some accessories.
    I'm thinking of making a good table with a table top with enough size to make three that fit the same table; Router, Caladora, and Sierra. It would be three tables removed and put on the same table.
    I apologize for my bad English, please.

    Does the top of the collet need to be flush against the top of the hole? I have a similar router but find that my router bit does not portrude out by much from the hole. I am using 3/4" plywood.

    • @boots7859
      @boots7859 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats why there are router base templates that are usually 9x12" that fit into a routed section of the table. The templates are usually 1/4" or less which gives you full height of your bits. Alternative is the musclechuck router bit that fits into your router, which you bit then fits into the musclechuck. Sort of like a ratchet extension bit. Much easier and faster to change bits, although a tad expensive.

    I liked watching it at this speed. I don't like the way most of the videos speed through them so fast. It's easy enough to skip ahead if needed. Much more realistic at this speed and easier for beginners I think.
