Ooh-wee, this felt like dusting off an old VHS tape are reliving classic memories of the past. I barely remember Make the Grade, but the rest of the Nickelodeon Game Shows from the 80s and 90s I still remember as clear as day! Thank you so, so much for uploading this video! Side Note Fun-Fact: While there is no IRL remake of Nick Arcade, I'd like to think that Smight on his channel (www.youtube.com/@smightlp) made a spiritual successor to Nick Arcade, calling itself Arcade Pit. If that didn't say that he was influenced by Nick Arcade, I don't know what is.
I remember Double Dare, Make the Grade, Wild & Crazy Kids, Nick Arcade, What Would You Do?, Guts, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Figure It Out! Such good memories these shows bring me!
I LOVED watching the game shows on Nickelodeon as a kid. I used to be so jealous of the kids who got to be on those shows, and I hated that I lived too far away that I couldn’t try to audition for any of the shows. My favorite is a tossup between Family Double Dare and Legends of the Hidden Temple, but the show I wanted to go on the most was Nick Arcade because I thought kids went into a video game for realsies. 🤣
I never watched finders keepers till Nickelodeon gas. I think Nickelodeon needs to bring "Nick arcade" for newer audiences. It'd be awesome to see this gameshow again
Oh, I LOVED DOUBLE DARE! Marc Summers was awesome as a host. Not-so fun fact: Marc Summers had major issues with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He discussed his issues with such in depth in an interview on programs such as the Oprah Winfrey Show and Dateline. I also remember Wild & Crazy Kids, Nick Arcade, Guts, What Would You Do, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Figure It Out.
Marc Summers came out few years ago and said he had untreated OCD and Bipolar Disorder during the height of double dare and had a mental breakdown couple years after the show ended and took a long time for him to get stable
Wasn’t there a shopping game show? I could swear Nick had a kids’ version of that show where you run through a grocery store, filling your cart for a set amount of time. I wanted to be on some of these shows so badly! I didn’t have the athletic ability for Guts (best theme song ever, btw), but I dreamed of being on Legends of the Hidden Temple, Wild n Crazy Kids, What Would You Do?, and Figure It Out. I loved watching these shows, even after they went to reruns. My favorite gag of any game show was on WWYD for a single episode, wherein every do often someone would call for “Makeup” and a kid would run up to Mark Summers and hit him in the face with a giant powder puff full of talcum powder. For years, that was the clearest memory I had of that show, until someone on Reddit mentioned the show and all memories of my mornings watching WWYD came flooding back. A part of me wishes Nickelodeon would resurrect these beloved old game shows, but as the channel is now, I fear they would miss the point of them and turn them into shambling shadows of their former selves. I just don’t trust modern Nick the way I did the orange splat of my childhood, and it hurts to know how far it’s fallen since these were all on the air.
They actually did reboot some of them over the years which I learned from getting list of all Nick Game Shows. If I do a video for 2000's to Current I will cover them. As for shopping game like super market sweep, nothing came up. There was contest kids could win to do that, which I now remember though, so maybe that's what you're thinking of.
That sounds like Supermarket Sweep. That show primarily had teams of adults compete in a supermarket setting, but they had a few episodes where teenagers teamed with a parent to compete. There was also Video Power, which became a game show in its second season. Video Power I would say is almost a competitor to Nick Arcade because it involved kids competing via playing video games. If I remember, at the end one kid would wear a Velcro outfit and run through an obstacle course trying to grab as many NES games as they could to stick to their body before time ran out.
3 shows I WISHED I could have been on but lived at least a 20-30 hour drive-way too far to beg my parents to let me try out- double dare, hidden temple and where in the world is carmen Sandigo
My ultimate goal in life as a kid was to be on Double Dare. I talked my sister into trying out. Hardest part was gonna be talking my parents into going to Universal instead of Las Vegas. Then they changed to Family Double Dare. no way was I gonna get my parents to agree. :(
Friend I must tell you your description of Jaron is somewhat in accurate because the kids were not the one performing the stunts they were trying to convince unsuspecting adults to do the stance and they had 10 minutes to complete three stunts in order to win a grand prize and there was also the feature called the big run around which allowed the studio audience to play along by guessing how many task would be completed in each segment and at the end of the show one kid got to humiliate his parent or guardian by completing a stunt similar to one from the field and those were always entertaining
I have to make a correction on the game show finders keepers. It did not last for two seasons. It actually lasted for three because Wesley Eure hosted the first two seasons and Larry Toffler hosted the final third season.
I had someone else make it and upload the video for me yesterday as a temporary thumbnail since I had to leave before I had chance to. Thanks for mentioning it since I forgot to replace it with my own today.
Nickelodeon definitely rode the game show craze back then.
Yeah they did.
When I found out about the Olmecs in Mexico legends of the hidden temple became even more a classic
Goodness me. I remember all those game shows. A real trip down memory lane for me..

Legends of the hidden Temple and finders keepers were definitely my favorite Nickelodeon game shows of my youth.
If it wasn't for my sister I would have never known the show's double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, and What Would You Do

Poor Marc Summers... His OCD made double dare hell for him
1981 baby here. Haven't thought of these shows in years but apparently have some memory of most of them burned into my brain 😂
I like Nickelodeon arcade it's awesome. 😀👍🎮
You didn't win a car. You didn't win a toaster. You won a trip on the famous Pie Coaster.
Nick Arcade deserves a reboot; You’re On deserves to be buried forever.
Finders Keepers is great and it should come back one day. 😀👍
Legends of the hidden temple is brilliant. 😀👍

Double Dare is the best. 😀👍
I remember when DD and Super DD was on fox 5 in the early 80’s and 90’s
Great video. I loved Legend of the Hidden Temple and Nick Arcade. :)
Thank you, I'm happy that you enjoyed it!

Same. Especially Nick arcade
Was it "I'm telling"? That gameshow had a bonus round like that. If so it wasn't on Nick it was on another channel
Get The Picture is fantastic. 😀👍

I wish I lived close enough to beg my parents to let me audition when I was in this age group
Figure it out is excellent. 😀👍
Friend of mine and I tried everything we could to be on Figure It Out. He wanted to be on TV and win prizes. I wanted to meet Summer Sanders
Canada had YTV. with uh oh.

Could you do more educational games shows? Ones like "Where in the world is Carmen SanDiego?
I put it in my notes for video ideas. Thanks for the suggestion!

GUTS kick ass. 😀👍
What would do "Yes"
Why should kirk fogg look a lot like disney channel's craig anton from phil of the future?
Why did you use AI for your thumbnail? It’s horrible!
I had someone else make it and upload the video for me yesterday as a temporary thumbnail since I had to leave before I had chance to. Thanks for mentioning it since I forgot to replace it with my own today.
@ Finally! You changed your thumbnail, thank you!
