Had this on a special gatefold 7" single A-side 1.Trick of the Night (Tricky mix) 2. A Cut Above The Rest B-side 1.Trick of the Night (Number One mix) 2. Set On You. Gorgeous 86/87 era photography of girls Worth getting if you are a collector 😍
This track is a very interesting puzzle from the 1986-1987 era. One of their more recent “deluxe” compilations contains an “Original 12” Mix” of “More Than Physical” … with a line “baby I’m waiting, anticipating, and my heart is SET ON YOU.” This song is a direct sample from that, stitched together with samples of other singles from “True Confessions.” And (most bizarre) this b-side was simultaneously released as a 12” single only in Canada. Love it!
I still believe one of the greatest Bananarama mysteries of all time is how in the world this song was released as a 12” in CANADA only (on a cropped up sleeve from “Do Not Disturb”). I think this should have been released worldwide after “A Trick of the Night” (at least to DJs) as a medley of “True Confessions” singles. I have always thought this track is sheer brilliance. (And really, why CANADA???)
I actually have that 12"! Back in the day - without internet, when you couldn't instantly check artist single releases, I remember buying it, listening to it and thinking was this actually a single? Seemed a bit unfinished but still love(d) the track
Devo34 Fascinating! Were you in Canada at the time? I found my first copy at a small college record shop in Kingston, Ontario (I’m American, not Canadian, but a huge Nana fan and was visiting friends there). I was like ... ? Why only in CANADA? 🇨🇦 An eternal mystery.
@@indygringo8862 Oh yeah, totally bought it in Canada - 1986, small hometown record shop. I remember I really loved the picture of the girls on the front sleeve but again, had no idea that this was even a single (and found out much later it wasn't and that the image was originally used for Do Not Disturb). The B side had More than Physical - musclebound mix and Ghost. And what was really weird about that 12" design? The back sleeve had an image with a piece of tape attached to it - I loved that for some strange reason. I'd love to ask the girls the origins of this 12" but I highly doubt they'd even remember Set On You let only where or why it was released only in Canada! You're right though, it truly is an eternal mystery!!
But why was this track removed from iTunes download on the collectors Edition of the album?? I purchased Set On You on download and then mysteriously around 12 months ago it was removed from my download which I had paid for and it now does not show on the track listing on the album!!! Very annoying and very poor considering I paid to download the track!!!
Great song !! Listening in 2024
Bananarama had great b-sides.... "Set on You", "Ghost", "Cairo", and "Mr. Sleaze"!! 🧡🧡💜💜💛
BACK IN TIME TO THE 1980'S 40 YEARS LATER AND ITS STILL SOUNDS COOL😁
Damn! Friends don't tell friends that the 80's were 40 years ago....😳
This was a non album track which was released as the b-side to A Trick of the Night.

snowbelle74 I loved that gatefold sleeve portrait, as well. Such a treasure.
mixed by Phil Harding
This song’s beat reminds me of More Than Physical. ❤️
Apparently this song is an earlier version of what eventually became More Than Physical.
Yeah. It’s a “crude” mix of More Than Physical
