    Nice to see your video, as usual, as you say February is a poor month everywhere, East Devon beaches included ! Now fed up with winter conditions and looking forward to some warmer weather to “warm these old bones” and therefore the arrival of summer species especially the rays and smoothhounds

    You and Chris always show the highs and the lows of fishing, you keep it real for all us fishermen!
    I know you have said in the comments that Chris is your digging bit*h🤣 but my back was aching just watching him.... Been trying for ages to get a longer pump, but since lockdown, everywhere sold out! But I found a guy who makes them on Facebook, I now have a 1.1m pump in marine grade steel, that I do not have to bend anymore! He makes them himself to order. I have never got so many worms in an hour, as I have with his pumps, with so little effort put in!!

    Hi Ian
    I follow you here on TH-cam to gain my fishing knowledge as have learned so much from you.
    I would love to fish brean beach like you so I could dig some fresh bait but I’m struggling to find parking down there via google maps. I am from the midlands and don’t know that area, is there anywhere to park within reason to the beach that you can park a medium wheelbase man.
    Thanks in advance and happy hooking.

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Roger so nice to hear from you and I’m so pleased you are enjoying the channel!
      We park opposite Brean village hall on the beach road…there is a grass verge there to park on but dont park behind the yellow lines or you will get a ticket. There is a cut through to the right of the hall a short walk to the beach!
      Alternatively you can park on the beach access towards Brean Down but there is a charge and the gates close early evening so beware the time… also any tide over 11m on the Weston Super Mare chart don’t park on beach!!
      Hope that helps!
      Bass about and sole in another month or so!
      Cheers ian

  • @somersetreefer1168
    @somersetreefer1168 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi great video. Can I please ask, If you don't get a bite do you just leave the bait out so that it essentially becomes further and further out? Or do you rebait often and recast?

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We leave it out … maybe up to an hour! No crabs about so you can do that easily! Often fish are at long range so walk back letting line out!! Thanks for watching cheers ian

    • @somersetreefer1168
      @somersetreefer1168 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying Ian. I had a good angling friend who said he would fish a double squid at BOS lower light and not recast the entire tide. If he caught he did and if not he dragged it outta the mud when the tide turned if he could! Is this even a method or is he winding me up?

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In winter a big squid bait can catch cod and I’ve definitely left one out for 3 hours before and occasionally at high tide a cod takes it…. But only very occasionally!!!! Usually a thornback takes it instead. A useful method if you fish worm bait on another rod!! Cheers ian

    Hi Ian, really enjoyed this video, spot on as usual, i do have a question, how far down the beach do you start your digging ? are there better and worst places on the beach to dig ? and how many worms do you need to fish one tide with two rods ? any info will help, kind regards Paul.

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi paul lovely to hear from you. Usually dig about 30 yards down from the first signs of the lugworm casts. The whole beach is good for digging no real hot spots!!! I reckon 50 worms plenty for 2 rods….usually no more than 4 casts each per tide!!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian

    Hi Ian, thinking of making a trip to Brean around Easter time. Just a few quick questions about parking and hope you can help. Would you be able to park on the beach before 7am on a weekend? If the answer is No then where do you usually park? And also is it OK to park on the beach on a spring tide? Thanks in advance for your help

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should be bass around then!!! Think beach open 9am until about 5???? Not entirely sure! We park on grass verge opposite Brean village hall…there is a cut through to the beach just beside it….a very short walk. Any tide over 11.5m on the Weston super mare tide scale runs the risk of car being wet!!!! Below that height parking on beach very safe!!! Cheers ian

      Hi ken glad you enjoyed the video! You can leave a big worm bait out up to an hour as there are no crabs at all!!! If a small whiting gets hold it’s a good livebait!! Unfortunately the small codlets get hooked too but that’s the chance you take. Cheers ian

    After the big storms and with the gentle of SW wind I was not surprised to see you come out today. I have never been to Bristol Channel before apart from one odd trip to Severn Bridge long time ago when I first started out fishing, so I have been doing a lot of research on BC lately with the plan to take my son out for once as he has been asking me constantly. My plan was coming to Brean today fish in the morning and then move to Lilstock or Hinkley Point for the low water in the afternoon but something came up last night would need me to be home in the afternoon. Thinking of driving 160 miles and fishing only 3 hours at Brean put me off otherwise we would meet today. But the good news for me is you guys only caught small cods otherwise I would be kicking myself for not coming. BTW, just a curious question, how come I never see you guys fishing at Lilstock or Hinkey Point...considering they are not far away and are quite famous for fishing??

    • @ianclarkfishing
      @ianclarkfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Thi thanks for your comment!!! Conditions looked perfect but unfortunately February is a hard fishing month over here!!! Come in June and catch some bass and sole!!! You would have been disappointed had you come!! Hinckley is not a favourite of mine to be honest…total mud bath!!! Maybe see you on Brean in the summer!!! Cheers ian

    • @mvatoiband
      @mvatoiband 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianclarkfishing Thanks Ian, you and me discussed briefly about what best conditions to visit BC in the past on here so in a way I was expecting to see you and Chris come out today, I was waiting for this kind of weather for sometime now so I thought it was a missed opportunity, but as you said you can only fish what in front of you. For the bass, there are loads on the river Thames, Kent and the South, so no need for me to make a long trip to BC. But I would love to catch a cod and ray, I thought Lilstock/Hindkey Point would give me better chance with the ray. Now I will keep watching the tide, weather and time for a trip to BC sometime this year with proper fishing. Take care.
