    Love all your video builds. You and I both have the same mental disorder. We love to build em just as much as we do flying them. One suggestion that I might add. Use a 6 channel Receiver, and an additional Servo up front which will give you the capability to program in a Flaperon / Spoileron Mix. Do this once, and you'll never turn back. Peace Brother.

      1. ESC, Power. 2. Aileron. 3. Elevator. 4. Rudder. 5. Empty. 6. Aileron. No "Y' harness. Sometimes you'll have to Reverse a servo, or flip flop the two Ailerons, but you'll get it. More flying options, and slow spot landings. Do this once, you'll never go back. Peace. Love your builds. @@thenerdoligist1292

    Hello. I also wanted to note that I especially liked your approach to the manufacture of a three-layer construction of the leading edge of the wing. however, I do not understand why you use wire for the chassis, while you can simply not use it due to the large weight.

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you are correct, the landing gear is optional and is easy to remove. I sometimes fly at a baseball field and I can take off from the ground with the landing gear on.

    I'm going to start my build tomorrow and have two quick questions about taping (never done before) and wonder what worked best for you:
    1. Do you first tape and then cut out various slots out of the foam board or cut out the slots, tape over and then cut the tape covering the slot?
    2. Is it better to first tape the wings, and then make the cut for the ailerons and then bevel or vice versa (cut, bevel and then tape)?
    Thanks a ton!!!

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tape first unless the bottom is a very dark color where you can’t see the lines then tape the top first, do the cuts then tape the bottom. It is one reason most of my planes are white on the bottom. If you haven’t taped before, I recommend watching my video on how I do it.

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Yes, 9g servos. Cheap ones work fine, but digital, faster, etc. make it even more fun. If you don’t have a lot of experience adding the curvature to the KF section, I recommend practicing on some scrap first

    Hi,
    I've got the same electronics apart from the motor which is A2212/6T 2200KV. I'm a total newbie so I'd like to as if you think that my setup could fly as nicely as yours.

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Unfortunately your motor will have lower acceleration so maneuvers like hovering and harriers will be much more difficult. The good news is that regular flying including loops, rolls and inverted flight will be the same. Good luck and have fun!

    how did you paint the foam board? And what type of paint?

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I apply colored vinyl (available at dollar tree) or colored packaging tape (Amazon) before the Final Cut on the foam board. There is a video in my list showing how I do it. Vinyl is a little bit easier and cheaper but a little bit heavier and doesn’t stick as well sometimes. Vinyl is also cheaper if you want multiple colors

    So you seem to use a lot of tape on your builds. I used to build a lot of foam but they would get so beat. How does thr tape do to give them longer life. Does it add a lot of weight?

    • @thenerdoligist1292
      @thenerdoligist1292  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tape waterproofs the paper so the control surfaces don’t warp. The foam still gets beat over time so they don’t last as long as balsa planes. It is 1.5 mil packaging tape so it is very light. I’ve also used vinyl, which is a little heavier but still worth it. Also, I like my planes to look good.

      Black works good but it is more difficult to see the pencil marks when copying the patterns. Dollar Tree sells clear packaging tape that looks good on the black.
