Damn .. I arrived at Berklee College Of Music the 1st week of January 1980. On my 1st day, I walked over to the Mass Ave building. Women were in very short supply at Berklee . The 1st woman I saw was a very young Aimee. She was stunning . After one semester , I got an apartment with a few friends . We lived on a beautiful block in horrible basement apartment like something out of a horror movie that became 24/ 7 jams and parties . We lived below Newbury Comics on Newbury St. If you went upstairs , into the shop , bought a comic or punky record, the clerk who would take your money was Aimee . 😎 People have often asked me what Aimee was like . I would tell them she had ability . Aimee could play , write , and sing . You could see the focus and ambition in her piercing eyes . I would say Aimee was very quiet / guarded if she didn't know you or trust you. I probably fell in the latter . 😎 I was young , wild , and sounded like Goodfellas. My roommates' band entered the Boston Rock & Roll Rumble. They were all fiery musicians , and were livid when they lost to Aimee's band, 'Til Tuesday. Aimee had excellent tunes and had a look and a style my roommates couldn't match. When I think of who was "The Look" of the early 80's , I tell people it was Whitney , Madonna , and the Queen Of New Wave was Aimee. I love all her early stuff , when we were young and full of piss and vinegar . I love her song writing and voice in her solo career . I regret I wasn't Aimee's guitar player . We both have come a long way since Newbury St . 😎 Journey well .. 🔱🪓🛡
I just found this and it's made my day! Thanks for posting it. Aimee Mann has quietly put together one of the most powerful catalogs of singer-songwriters in recent music. She's a real treasure.
Been a fan of Aimee since I saw the video for Coming Up Close on MTV and thru her early solo career. Saw her at Largo in the most intimate of setting many times…I miss Jon Brion’s influence though. That was some magical chemistry they had.
@@DaraM73 She was wonderfully energetic/charismatic when she fronted Til Tuesday (a million years ago :0) It seems by the time she launched her solo career and foraged into a more acoustic/folk genre, her stage presence really changed.

I'm so sorry and embarrassed to only today learn that TIL Tuesday was her, or that she was in Ministry!😳 I'm looking forward to diving in to her catalog now.❤ Glad she has been able still continue with such a long career. Amazing!
Enjoyed getting a look at Aimee up close. Just a regular gal and a regular band, tired, sweet, pure, pretty and professional making sweet music. A nice backup band for the lady. Thank You for posting. BTW, I thought the sound quality was very fine.
I met her once. I drove the shuttle for a music festival and retrieved her and her band from the airport. She's very tall and outgoing. And she also zinged me when I asked her if a piece of luggage was hers. I didn't realize that it was a golf bag, and not a regular suitcase. She turned to me and said: "We're not here to golf, man."
She's so smart and funny! I love how she describes her uneasiness with the term 'concept album'. "It's such a 70's kind of ponderous, Rick Wakeman, cape-wearing, double-necked guitar kind of thing" hahaaa! :-D
I just randomly brought up this video right now to watch it as I posted in my Facebook site a couple days ago the time I spoke with Ainee Mann that she was being interviewed on NPR's Talk of the Nation for the 40th anniversary of the release of The Beatles Sergeant Pepper's album. [You can look up that discussion on NPR the 40th anniversary of The Beatles album with Aimee Mann interviewed, it's a delight to listen to her speak about discovering the album when she was 8 years old.] That's a pretty long sentence I just wrote prior here, with voice text, so I hope it turned out all right. When I was impressed to find in your comment is that Julian Coryell played with Amy Mann's group for awhile. I did not know this. I'm assuming that's the same Julian Coryell that is Larry Coryell's son. I'm a long time fan of Larry Coryell and I've seen him perform live once when I went to talk to him and have him sign an old album from 1975, the unique collaboration he did with the group, Oregon. That album was titled - The Restful Mind.
The guitar player to aimee’s left with the dark grey shirt is not in tune at least in the beginning of the set. Listen starting 7:01. That section is where I clicked out of the video. Maybe he tunes his guitar later in the video.
I cannot get enough of Aimee Mann. She is wonderful.
I can listen to Aimee Mann all day long and remain excited throughout every song. She’s not just only a beautiful songwriter and singer but soul.💗💗
Yes , she is...
Voice is so carasmatic
What a nice thing to say. I felt that! 😘
me too
Agree 100
One of the best female songwriter's ever
Over 17 years ago and she's still rockin n 2022. Go Gurl!!
"She Really Wants You"- What a beautiful song...Should have been a hit single...
Aimee Mann is seriously underrated ♥️
curious, who "underrated" her??
Her voice is every bit as perfect as Carole King or Karen Carpenter or anyone else. I'm absolutely mesmerized by it.
Like Carole King and Karen Carpenter, Aimee’s voice is instantly recognizable.
She’s even better

Thank you! This is, for me, a wonderful insight. This woman makes the distant past amazingly dynamically new with so very much creativity! ❤

Tendonitis and lack of interest in touring are good reasons NOT to tour with anyone. He's got the Hollowood gig going on.
Oh my god, she’s so amazingly talented. One of our greatest songwriters ever. I can’t wait to hear what she writes in her 90’s! Don’t ever stop!
Aimee Mann is a national treasure⛲
That House of Blues show was soooo good!
"The king of the jailhouse" is one of the best lyrics i've ever heard!
My favorite songwriter, by far
The Forgotten Arm is my favorite Aimee Mann album, so I'm really appreciating this video. Thanks!
It’s my favorite one too!
Her voice. Scandalous that she isn't better known.
Yeah, but she doesn’t exactly have a personality for performance.

@@flickasBF Very true...In Til Tuesday, she was a real fireball...
Youth brings it's own ambition and energy, I love her laid back honest persona in her adulthood

That first song is soo good acoustic. Goosebumps, chills, and good vibes. Just grew on me so much
Julian’s guitar solo on Dear John is 🔥
I don't think I could possibly love her more.
I do !!

Such an under rated artist...

Her description of a concept album is hilarious! I prefer the term “Rock Opera “

Ora voglio ascoltare tutta la canzone di Aimee Mann con la chitarra nera e il vestito di blu. Mi piace.
Aimee is da greatest
I love her
Fantastic! Terrific sound.

muito bom.
Reminds me of Joni Mitchelle. Long ways from Til tuesday. Good for her.
Thank you !
She always has a guitar hiding that gorgeous bod.
"Life just kind of empties out"
Isn't that true
Who knows why Julian Coryell didn't stick with her band? This lineup, with Jebin Bruni and John Sands, was fantastic.

Great set, but does anyone know what hoodie she's wearing? it's pretty cool
Is Aimee Mann the greatest American songwriter/performer? Paul Simon take a seat.
Surely
Aimee Mann, a six foot beauty still married to Sean Penn's brother, I believe.
Großartig

What bass is Brion playing?
Beatlebass???
My God this is incredibly good. I'm stunned.
Also, that is a very thin neck fretless bass is it not?
Yeah, Case closed for me, Steely didn't ditch her because she's a woman.
He ditched her because she's got the energy of a tired folk singer.
* honesty of a tired folk singer.
English guy speaking at speed like an american...in other words "what?"
it looks so primitive
Ooh, a woman who identifies as a woman. OMG
Jesus, she is 45 here, as a 42 year old with a wife who looks like she's reedy for the retirement home, Aimee sure lucked out in the gene pool!
