Thank you for making this! I'm gonna be an incoming freshman this fall, and I can't really find much information about dorm life in general at Bard, even on their website. :( I really appreciate it!
Of course! When I was an incoming freshman I couldn't find any dorm videos either! I'm happy I was able to give you a little insight as to what the dorms will look like. I have another video of what a sophomore dorm could look like on my channel as well :)
Hey!! Not a dumb question at all! They don't provide trashcans in the rooms, but they have them in the halls on all the floors. I would recommend getting a small trashcan to have in your room next to your desk though and then anytime that gets full you can put the contents in the larger bin as they empty those very frequently. I hope that helps!
Hi Ashley! I'm so sorry for the late response. Being 100% honest, Bard isn't totally known for their sports teams, it is more known for its conservatory and artistic endeavors. However, there are still really good sports teams that have gotten even better in even just the 3 1/2 years I have been there because of good athletes joining Bard's teams. Bard's most well known sports teams are Basketball (both women and men's), Baseball, and I would also say Soccer (for mostly the women). Of course, the other sports teams like swimming and lacrosse do well also. Overall, I would say it's growing in popularity at Bard in recent years and I sincerely hope that they continue to grow and get more athletes who are passionate about playing because it really does make it way more exciting to go to the games. In terms of party scene it really depends on the crowd you vibe. Since you are interested in the sports teams I will say those are the typically easier to find parties/they attract more people. Most parties happen off campus, however, there are definitely parties on as well. Bard's party scene is nothing like a big school, you have to search for what's going on a bit more. The best time for Bard's party scenes are Halloweekend, and Spring fling I have had so so much fun going out on both of those major events.
Thanks for making this vid! I'm doing some college research and didn't find a lot of information about the dorms on Bard's website. I thought coffee machines weren't allowed...? Just a question! Does it depend on the dorm or is it a breakable rule?
Hey! I would say it's a breakable rule, I've had one for both freshman and sophomore year and they didn't say anything to me during dorm checks. I hope that helps! :)
Hi! I would say that the toasters are great for a quieter dorm experience. If you want something with more nightlife than Cruger would be a better bet, plus they have slightly bigger dorms. However I absolutely loved my experience living in the toasters. They are located in a really central location on campus near the classrooms and campus center. I would recommend living there!
Hi! Pretty much all electronic devices are allowed other than ones that could start a fire ie: microwaves, hot plates, etc. I know that they can be strict on extension cords, but pretty much everyone has those as long as you are careful. I am not sure if flat/curling irons are allowed, but I know most people have those as well. Other than that, you can have pretty much anything! Is there anything specific you were curious about?
@@zoejuliennemanwiller8665 Thanks a lot for clearing this doubt, I researched a lot about it but I couldn't find it anywhere else. Yes I am curious to know that are the dorm students allowed to move outside? Or are there any specific regulations for that too? Like if we have to buy anything for our dorm room,so may we move outside?
@@ananyasharma2029 Hey Ananya! Yes students are allowed to live off campus, however, it is more common to live on campus for all four years. It can be kind of tricky to live off campus as it can be hard to find a good place to live for an affordable price and with a good landlord. The only regulation about living off campus is that you would have to be a junior.
