I visited Honolulu, Hawaii for a few days in October of last year and noticed that in-game events make it difficult to find regional pokemon (the Festival of Lights event was live during the time I went there).
The featured pokemon spawns during the event most likely replaced some of the regional pokemon spawns, which explains why Brandon had trouble finding a single Comfey (It took me 3 days to find 2 Comfeys and 2 Oricorios during an event)
Right when the event ended, I managed to find 9 more Comfeys and 4 more Oricorios within 24 hours before I took my flight back home.

I know what you mean about events getting in the way of regional pokemon spawing. I went to Florida for Christmas for 11 days and I was hoping on catching a shiny heracross and out of the 11 days I only caught 4 because of the Christmas event

I think this delayed spawning thing is part of the last spawn update they did. They said some nonsense about _redistributing spawns to enhance the user experience_ but I frequently notice stale spawns appearing or disappearing seemingly at random.
I keep getting every pokestop in my area having the same pokemon for a bit, lol. Everywhere i looked it was just this one pokemon for about 30 mins.

Was in Kauai for a week last fall. Caught 9 Comfey, 5 island Oricorio, and 1 Corsola. The trick is to go with someone who likes to drive , then get stuck in traffic a lot.

Over my winter break I caught my Comfey on my second day on Maui and had no clue it was that rare so glad I caught it on my time in Hawaii
Just got back from a trip to Puerto Rico where I was able to get 4 regional exclusives; Heracross, corsola, maractus and the psychic oricorio. It’s really cool getting Pokémon you haven’t even seen before in game when you visit another part of the world

I found a few Comfrey and one Hawaiian Oricorio when I was on Kauai about a month ago. Kauai is possibly the most underrated of the Hawaiian Islands so I'm glad you got to have fun there Mystic! What will you do when Confrey gets its shiny?

Fun fact: all of the chickens on kaui are from a farm, and bad weather destroyed the fence, and now they’re all wild. The chickens are also super friendly, and will eat food from your hand if they trust you

As a person who lives in Honolulu Hawaii, Ive seen 6 Comfey and caught 4 Transferring all of them I caught not knowing they were that rare.

I'm glad you caught your Comfey there! Oahu does have better chances obviously, and Kauai lacks many features for PoGo compared to Oahu. Hope you'll visit Hawaii again!
From another Hawaii resident to another, gotta say that this is very true. O’ahu is one of the best tourist destinations and therefore has the most pokestops.

That's cool! It's available in both places Purta Rico and the Philippines, it makes more sense to have more then one region where regionals are located, especially for birds. I love how there's 4 orricoro's ! I can only get the electric one, here in Canada, it must be world wide or something.

In my opinion, Comfey is right next to Bouffalant in rarity, as Bouffalant is only catchable in NYC and a small surrounding area, which luckily I live in the surrounding area, and yes if I do obtain some I will trade them.

Its nice when they region lock the non-meta pokemon to keep them as collector's items. I'm sure many people aren't bothered by missing comfeys or different variants of oricorio, but if they were to region lock something like machop to an island it'd be a different story.

You know why there regionals right? Because Niantic is hugely known as money hungry and they know that only people who travel those distances have more money and will spend more.
Fun fact: You can find Comfey in Waikiki when walking/driving around while having the app open.
At least that’s how I find Comfeys’ and in the end, I would usually transfer them but recently been saving them.

One matter is more important to do with your friends list rather than remote trade implementation in Pokemon Go. This is allow all players to open infinite gifts. See all players allowed to had maximum number of 400 friends but only allow to open 25-40 gifts in one day. What is your point Niantic? Didn't allow players gain xp so fast?

So I’ve calculated the chances of finding a shundo in the wild with no events and no weather boosts, and it is 1 in 2 048 000
Somehow I have found 3. 2 at my house and 1 wild. But I would say my shiny 100 bronzong isn't that high of rate since it's part of the 1 and 75 shinies. My rarest shundo is my Hypno 100iv or Altaria shundo.
Last spring, my family and I went to Hawaii (Oahu & the main island) and, coincidentally, around the same time that Comfey could be caught again, the only reason why we went to Hawaii in the first place was because my sister was a senior in High School

My whole family got a Comfey at the very first place we stopped at to eat, only35 minutes after getting off the plane in Kailua-Kono.
I was able to get my first Comfey back in march last year during spring break, hype!
I have a level one Comfey, and still kept my first one in my account to this day, never doing anything with it!
