Here we are, more than a hundred years after the composer’s death, honoring his music and his persona with a standing-up orchestra (excepting for those who can’t) playing the whole entire thing from memory, dancing, smiling and enjoying with passion this wonderful rendition of one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Bravo everyone! 👏👏👏
This piece is easy if you practice I practice very hard on this piece since I had to play it last year once you practice enough this piece is very fun to play
What a mixed bag of looking people. Absolutely lovely as they look very much alive rather than what one would use to get is statues playing an instrument with miniscual head movement and that's about it, oh, and not forgetting bland faces. That alone would send one to sleep and consumed with looking proper over the music. Love watching the people as much as enjoying the music. Heads bobbing all over the place, eyes rolling, dresses swaying, bodies also swaying - love it aboslutely love it. More of that naturalness please.
I fondly remember playing this piece in a national competition with my orchestra back in high school. This was such a fun selection to play on the double bass, we always loved hitting a nice, low open E.
Superb!! what a beautiful rendition of this wonderful piece. I found the visual experience marvellous too they all look as if they are thoroughly enjoying what they are doing. I will certainly be following this wonderful orchestra in the future. Thank you
Heard this song on Classical FM a few years ago and ever since it's reminded me of being on a long-stretch commute home on a rainy day. Only now have I been able to find out the name of the piece. Thank you
Hello. I am completing a circle. Your performance of the Grieg Praeludium inspired me (and 35 high school kids who play in my steel orchestra) to create our own version of this wonderful piece of music. Our version is minimally adapted, taken up a half-step to accommodate the ranges of our instruments, the wicked viola lines at 1:02 and 1:08 were simplified, and we added glockenspiel (orchestra bells) on a few passages. The addition of the percussion (snare drum and cymbals) was a nod to tradition in the modern steel orchestra, but also was a logistical necessaity because our group is actually two bands joined together for this tour, and, without additional rehearsals as one large group, a group of this size needs some kind of rhythmic glue to hold it all together. The group is the Pan Wizards Steel Orchestra, hailing from the Seattle area of the Pacific Northwest in the United States. They are the advanced youth orchestra of our non-profit group, Steel Magic Northwest. Thank you for your inspiring performance. We offer this version as a tip of our hat to the fabulous performance by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/m59MuMUu0SY/w-d-xo.html
Best interpretation on youtube I've found, good tempo, good rhythm, they're all connected rhythmically and the sound are well balanced and just. Lively, varied, beautiful cohesion and listening from all the players. Im not surprised as this interpretation is coming from the Norwegian chamber orchestra, they must know how to play Norwegian music better.
that piece is the best music for Gmajor. modest and noble. only classical music makes world better. however some classical musicians are killing classical music today, they are just killing their future actually, who knows.
Ah, its a good place, Norway. Have you heard the orchestra´s Haydn and Mozart recordings with Leif Ove Andnes? Magic. Especially the Haydn (vastly underrated piano concertos).
I have a tee shirt that says _NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND: OFFICIAL DOG OF THE COOLEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD_ I don't know how he knew, but my pup, Baldurdash was glued to the screen wagging his tightly curled tail while he watched it.

Thank you for helping me decide on a suitable piece of music for my father’s funeral. After all, this must be what it is like in heaven.
As a violist, this song makes me cry because I can't do it.
Meanwhile I've had this music since Tuesday and I need to play it at concert temp by Tuesday for Honor orchestra (viola) I'm crying deeply
+Eduardo Good luck

Haha, you are right 8th note follows by two 16th for long time is not easy.
This piece is easy if you practice I practice very hard on this piece since I had to play it last year once you practice enough this piece is very fun to play
I love how they’re actually moving around and swaying instead of just sitting/standing as still as a statue with no expression.
They're having fun with it, as Grieg must have intended.
Depends on the pace of the composition and how accurate you have to be
Two and a half minutes that lift my spirits every time of watching. Tusen takk!
Norsk jo!!! Kom 3 år etterpå da
Bravo, viola section! Also s/o to Grieg for not seeing the violas as "third violins" and actually giving us a difficult part. Lol
AMEN! (WOO HOO! VIOLAS GET SOME RECOGNITION!)

I love this orchestra! They make music move with life!
I love this 💖 The interaction between the players their faces and the sheer quality of the musicians puts this performance at the top of my list 🤗🤗🤗😊😎

Best version I've heard of this, love the intensity and energy :)
Dancing like a feather in the North Sea wind... 💙🤍💙 This is magic.

First time I hear this Orchestra... marvelous way to make music...
So delicate, charming and joyous playing. I adore this piece - it made me weep when I was a boy. Maybe still a little now...!
Very much love, longing and sublimity in this piece of music.
こんにちは🌞、、?❤
Absolutely delightful! Puts you in a joyful mood 😊🥰
One of the best performances of this on TH-cam! Coming as great use for preparation for my Conducting exam!
Heard this song on Classical FM a few years ago and ever since it's reminded me of being on a long-stretch commute home on a rainy day. Only now have I been able to find out the name of the piece. Thank you
1:10 looking at those expressions, who wants to crack a viola joke? That section has their act together, and they know it!
😂 They were awesome!! 💯🙌🏼🥰
And the choreography is tasteful and sweet..musically, this is my fave performance.
They are watching each other, listening to each other, cuing each other, This is an orchestra of all leaders and it works.
Kikass Violas, everyone is great. All memorization is what all Chamber groups should aspire towards.
Beautiful - and so much richer a sound than their numbers would suggest. Wonderful music, wonderfully played.
Incredible, performed with such love and life, and even the more relaxed dress is a nice touch and makes it more inviting. Wonderful! ❤️
So I'm in middle school and my 8th grade class is playing this and we sound great! 8m genuinely surprised that us 8th graders can play it
First heard this in the film Yanks 1979 with Richard Gere, have loved it ever since .
Both this work and performance are excellent !

It is truly awesome and touching. What a masterpiece performed by elite orchestra.
I agree with the commenter, raoul2u, who said: "Two and a half minutes that lift my spirits every time of watching."

Great playing. Shame about the ridiculous dancing and swaying - I'd have to watch with my eyes shut!
