I was lucky enough to see this show in Los Angeles. It was the first time I saw her perform live. All I can say is the woman is enchanting. I've been a fan ever since. I had front-row seats. I was so close I could see a small tear in her fishnet stocking. I was beaming so much, she made eye contact and flashed that big beautiful smile. She really is beautiful in person. It's an evening I'll never, ever, forget.
How amazing 🤩 thank you for sharing ! Those beaded fishnet cost a pretty penny and almost impossible to repair . Miss Ross gave me a smile once at a concert , I nearly fainted !
she toured this show in Europe in 1976 She performed in Paris in April..... This was before she performed it at The Palace in June of that year.. We did not see her back in London until 1978 when she did some shows at the London Palladium,
Thanks for a Great vídeo very profesional with wonderful pictures . One of my best Diana’s concert was in Paris at the Olympia in 2004 she gave herself to rhe public for almost 2.5 hours, a pity not being recorded on vídeo. Thanks Phillippe for the video 🫶🏻
Mike , The only concert I missed in Paris since 1983 ! But so many people have told me how impressive and spectacular this show was ! I was not able to get a seat unfortunately . Thank you for your encouragement and you are most welcome .
@@benhamouphilippe she even sang when you tell me … seated on a piano.. Reach out I’ ll be There that gave the audience goosebumps… and every hit she has plus a very emocional jazz segment with Dont explain… she has never look and sound better… she was 60 and rebound frontis a personal bar period with even more Good energy ,,,, the public gave her an standing ovation for more than 10 m in the middle of it … she told to stop and carry on with the show… A really unique night Shame you miss it …
@@mikelelorduybarroeta1096 Hearing your description of the concert is amazing ! I am so thrilled she was able to play in such a legendary concert hall . Judy Garland , Marlene Dietrich and Josephine Baker sang there . Miss Ross deserved to be celebrated at the Olympia ! Thank you so much for sharing .
Phillips you truly captured the magic of this show and album. It is her best live album before the even more exhilarating “Stolen Moments” 2 decades later. By the way, Diana also lived in Paris while preparing for her lost dream “The Josephine Baker Story”. This is a wonderful Tony Award winning performance.
Thank you so much , I didn't know Miss Ross lived in Paris , although she passed by me once on Ave Montaigne . It was like in a dream , I didn't move or breathe until she was gone . I also love stolen moments , thank you for your kind words .
Your passionate expression of this performance was stellar! More, I’m motivated to buy it. I was grade school in Michigan at the time of the performance, but everybody knew who Diana Ross was and Smokey Robinson. You actually give me an idea to go back and look at other early acts of famous musicians that I enjoy. We’re always looking forward sometimes it’s cool to just look backwards, especially when we’re looking at good music. And I thank you for bringing that awareness to my attention. This is an excellent tool to help heal pandemic anxiety
Thank you for your kind words , I am deeply touched . For me Diana Ross is the soundtrack of my childhood . I remember the first time I heard each one of her great songs . Thank you 🙏
I am really sad that they did not film the entire Theatre production - as whilst the TV Special of the Same name you refer to and the recording of the actual concert from Japan (available on You Tube) are great ( what Diana Ross fan turns down a special!) they are not the same as the live show and omit out some key songs/pieces. I am also sad that they did not record the full version of The Point - I have the memory of her singing. "LifeLine" in full not just a couple of lines as on the recording BUT I am greedy LOL! and I want a DVD of Farewell ( last performance of DRATS ) An Evening with Diana Ross ( European Tour ) and perhaps throw in Supremes at the Copa LOL.....
Hello and thank you for all the details , I too adore the Japan concert , the orchestration is really beautiful . I do pray for a deluxe version of this album containing complete versions of songs . thank you so much .
Yes Ms. Ross did this..solidifying her legacy..
