Yes! Also…who can truly number “Israel”…meaning who can number those who overcome with God. Only God knows…It was told to Abraham that his seed would be as the sands of the sea. Who can count that. Its a spiritual connotation.that’s why it was a great sin…Pray your in that number!

So the people have no freewill, they just treated as slaves? Why punish the poor people for the crimes of the King? Men, women and children struck dead by an Angel .... That is NOT justice.

      @suaveofjudah 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@davidarmstrong1862 do not blaspheme in matters you do not understand. David was shown the weight of His crown and the importance of His obedience and complete reliance on the true King of Israel. Israel was NOT to be like any other nation on earth because they were chosen by God and they carried His Name and reputation. The swift discipline of the Lord came because He was already upset with the people of Israel. “Again, the ANGER OF THE LORD BURNED AGAINST ISRAEL, and He incited David against them saying, ‘Go take a census of Israel and Judah’. “ now we know that the Lord is ALMIGHTY AND SOVEREIGN and His Purpose will stand. When we cross this with the same account in 1 Chronicles 21:1 we see that it was Satan who presented himself before the Lord to TEMPT DAVID TO PRIDE. Now the Lord was already angry at Israel for supporting David’s son uprising and usurping of the Throne that God himself gave to David. Judgment comes from the Lord and who are you to question what he does with your human sentiments and lack of knowledge of Heavenly Law that governs our existence? Israel was due for discipline and the Lord allowed Satan to tempt so that David could make a CHOICE. His choice would determine the fate of his countrymen. This is the burden of ALL KINGS. David chose pride and this brought judgement on the nation that was looming above them. And after David was given three options he said “I am in great distress because of the this situation. Let me fall into the hands of the Lord for His mercy is great. But do not let me fall into human hands” why would he say that? BECAUSE HE IS A MAN OF WAR AND HE KNOWS THE TERROR AND HORRORS OF WAR AND THAT THE PEOPLE WHO WAR AGAINST ISRAEL WOULD NOT SPARE ISRAEL BUT WOULD DESTROY ISRAEL DOWN TO THE LAST INHABITANT! The 70,000 lost pale in comparison to the inherent loss of the entire nation! And what did David say after this happened? “I have sinned, I, the shepherd, have done wrong, these are only sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.” David, although knowing the sin of Israel by taking his throne and supporting his son’s rebellion STILL INTERCEDED ON THEIR BEHALF AND CAST THE SIN OF A NATION UPON HIM AND HIS HOUSE. The house that GOD GAVE HIM! He displayed to the Lord that He loved nothing more than the Lord Himself and the people chosen by God. His selfless sacrifice redeemed Him in the Lord’s sight. Anything other than this would not have made David worthy of the Kingdom. Moses was not permitted entry into the Promised Land because he too disobey God and used the Lord’s power unlawfully by striking the rock out of anger and impatience with the People of God when it’s not his place to do such things when God told him to simply SPEAK to the rock. You do not understand these things so do not hold yourself in contempt because you will answer to the Lord one day if you do not repent and humble yourself as King David did. You may never have been King of a nation before but you may be the head of your household. And if it you can relate more to the head of a house than the Kong of a Nation. Do not your decisions, or the decisions of the head of house, affect everyone under your care that you provide for and protect? Use wisdom when judging these situations and have righteous judgment that you may gain more understanding.

God’s wrath and punishment seems far greater than His love for us. He allows us to exist, enjoy a few things, but then also lets us exist to go through the pain and sufferings of life, and fall victim to our emotions and temptations from the enemy, and then that eventually leads us to our own judgment and eternal punishment. I can only Hope that Christ finds something worth saving and redeeming in my wicked existence.

God allowed his son to take our place, pay a price we couldn't pay to give us the gift of salvation and adopt us into the family as fellow heirs. Faith is the only requirement. We go through trials because we allow the enemy in. Unforgiveness is the most used door by Satan to cause you harm. Pray for those who badly use you. Recognize it's Satan manipulating them to abuse you and they don't know it. God daily loads us with blessings. Thank him for them.

It was because God had previously promised his ancestors to make them _"As countless as the stars in the sky"_ so if someone went and took a tally of all the people in the land it would come up to a finite number, (which would be relatively small by todays standards) and would directly contradict God's promise.
Then someone would be able to throw that in the face of God and use it as propaganda to try to undermine his legitimacy.

This story is dangerous ground for anyone clinging to the idea that there are no contradictions in the bible. In the Samuel passage where this occurs, God is behind the taking of the census; but in Chronicles where the story is retold, it's Satan behind it. The "God can use Satan to fulfil his purposes" argument does not solve it. That might possibly work in the book of Job (even there it has its problems) but it does not work with the census verses. With those, it's a question of agency: in the Samuel passage God is the source of the action, in the Chronicles passage Satan is the source of the action. Why would the account of who prompted the census be different in two different passages describing the SAME EVENT

Amman had good reason to believe his half sister Tamar was sleeping with Absalom. This is the reason he was disgusted after violating her and discovering he was right. That's why she went along with keeping silent and stayed living at Absalom's house (2 Sam.13:20). Scriptures have been slanted to hide this truth.

God doesnt abuse innocent people, announcer! .... this was a huge undertaking and wrong timing may have caused huge problems. Numbering people was also a prelude to war, I wonder what the people thought.

It's not a sin to COUNT the people. The sin is...NOT COLLECTING MONEY for those counted. See Exodus 30:11-16.
God does NOT have to COMMAND David to take a census. Exodus 30 does not COMMAND Moses to take a count, either. IT states WHEN you take a census, not a command to TAKE A CENSUS. And 2 Samuel 24, God "moved" David to take a count, not God commanded David to take a count.
God's anger was with Israel, not David. Satan, on the other hand, just wanted to get David into trouble SO THAT Israel would be killed!
But there are DIFFERENCES between the 2 accounts. They are not the same account.
For my comment here, I don't care about the count number in either case. But, below are the OTHER differences:
    For example:
In 2 Samuel 24:13, God gave David 3 choices of punishment:
*1. 7 *(SEVEN) years famine, or
**2. 3 years *(YEARS) fleeing from enemies, or
    3. 3 days pestilence
But in 1 Chronicles 21:12 God also gave David 3 choices of punishment:
    *1. 3*(THREE) years famine, or
**2. 3 months *(MONTHS) overtaken by enemies
    3. 3 days pestilence
That's a major difference, not to mention the other differences in the census, as well as the CURRENCY and amount needed for the THRESHING FLOOR in order to STOP the pestilence.
Threshing Floor (Belonging to Ornan) 1 Chronicles 21:25: *600 Shekels of Gold.
Threshing Floor (Belonging to Araunah) 2 Samuel 22:24: **50 shekels of Silver.
My reference is the KJV, but I do know, and am aware of other versions of the Bible, such as the NIV, which makes everything the SAME account. For example...2 Samuel 24:13 shows THREE YEARS FAMINE instead of SEVEN, which would make both accounts the same...except for the currency and amount, and who the threshing floor belonged to. Those are still different, reflecting the same as the KJV.
Having said all that...Numbering the people is NOT the sin.
1 John 3:4 states that sin is the transgression of the law [of Moses].
Romans 3:20 states that the law [of Moses] is the knowledge of sin.
So, we have to take it back to the law of Moses in order to determine WHAT the sin actually is.
    Exodus 30:11-16
11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
12 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the Lord, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
NOTE: DID YOU SEE THE WORD PLAGUE IN VERSE 12?
13 This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the Lord.
14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the Lord.
15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls.
16 And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls.
Numbering the people is not the sin. Neglecting to COLLECT MONEY FROM THE PEOPLE COUNTED is the sin.

Or maybe the writer of Samuel thought God said to do it but the writer of Chronicles thought the satan said to do it. Simple as that and easy enough to confuse as in this Old Testament period the satan was a part of the divine council and not in opposition to God as would develop in New Testament writings.

The way this channel is making God seem like he's some borderline abusive and hot tempered God and then thatsit...like, you can be a Christian without being a masochist and a walking sack of guilt and trembling all the time. It's unhealthy and discouraging to hear nothing about damnatiom and agony from God's anger. Seriously. Would like to see this channel. They cannot understand that God’s word is spoken through Jesus (John 8):
“Why do ye not understand my speech? It is because ye cannot hear my word” (John 8:43). Jesus tells the Jews this because they do not realize it is God who speaks through Jesus. Instead, they speak against Jesus’ words and will speak the lies of their father the devil (John 8:44). People do the same today, but in different ways. Just as the Jews didn’t realize that Jesus was speaking about the Father then (John 8:27), they do not believe it today and instead continue to preach that Jesus is God.
The world cannot grasp that Jesus can do nothing of his own power and authority (John 8:28). They claim to be “saved,” but they do not have the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to them. All that Jesus has-his power, spirit, life, and words-has come from God the Father. Only those who believe Jesus came forth from God will see the Father plainly one day (John 16:25-28). Anything else is calling them both liars, and leads to hell for all eternity. Repent, and God the Father will forgive-before it’s too late.

Remember David wanted to know how many veteran warriors and total arms-bearing age men he had. The size of your military was a source of pride in the ancient world. God already knew the answer, David wanted to know for his own pride.

King David didn't commit adultery. Uriah was a closet h---------- and had not consummated his marriage to Bathsheba; she was still a virgin. Hence the only way she could report him was to get David's attention up on that roof. Had Uriah caught wind that she was attempting to expose him, Uriah would have forced himself on her to protect his secret. King David erred in that he had Uriah killed by the sword of an Ammonite rather than stoning by the community as the law demanded. Also, Bathsheba was to have waited until after the evening sacrifice when she would have been totally purified from her menses; hence EL YAHAWAH killed the child she bore from David as it was conceived in (spiritual) uncleanness.
