As meteorologist in the making this saddens me. To my understanding yhe name comes from watching everything that falls down on the earth. Snow, rain, sahara dust etc.
@roseghostea I'm not saying that is correct, just connecting it from a class where we classified everything falling down as some kind of meteor, especially the things that also came from Earth, like water vapor or the before mentioned Sahara sand dust.
Wasn't there a theory that a giant meteor's impact caused weather disturbances that blocked off the sun, which led to less photosynthesis and eventual starvation of dinosaurs?
