"Personally, I couldn't care less about the plastic on the door panels" Finally, someone said that. And on the top of dashboard. I mean, how many times have you actually touched it? It's really of low importance imo.
I disagree, it leads to a feeling of poor quality and cheapness. Look at different manufacturers that have nice materials all around, you feel better about your purchase in my opinion.
for example look at the new 2020 Subaru xv cross trek as a comparison, the interior quality is miles above this and its around the same price point if not cheaper
@@sikidiki22 It's just personal I guess. I would take subaru xv over this any time, but because I love it as a whole, not because of the materials used.
@@ItsNotAProblem thats only half of the experience, the other half is your interior, how it makes you feel, how it looks, smells, ect. Get in a car covered in leather and fine materials and it will change your opinion i guarantee it.
It’s not the best interior and they did cheap in areas, but I like the look. The center console without shiny plastic won’t scratch, and kiss won’t rip the back door panels since they are hard. I like the durability and the minimalist design. It’s not everyone’s taste but I like it compared to RAV overdesign it’s nice
Re: interior materials: 'same here, Topher - as long as it doesn't rattle, I don't care. I rarely touch interior materials, except for the seat, steering wheel, and armrests. As far as this hybrid becoming "obsolete soon," a large percentage of U.S. drivers rent apartments/condos, with no access to home charging for an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
I own a 2018 Camry Hybrid. I totally agree the fun of controlling the fuel consumption and the electric motor/engine throttling, especially during the first half year driving it. To be honest I know those tricks don't make any economic sense, but they are indeed fun!
Hey, awesome video! I would like if you could get your hands on some Audis RS,S models and BMWs. Some premium brands for a change. I would like to hear your opinion on them. Thank you
Great review is the attkinson engine direct or multipoint injection also is there any way to change gears manually i did not notice any paddle shifters
Real world mpg? My 2020 for escape hybrid awd That is being driven in city of Montreal is doing 67mpg easy. So if your home town is more about city streets then hwy roads then this car is 100% for you
I was impressed, intially I was thinking about the Rav 4 but I may have to rethink this. I'll have to rent each one for a couple of days and see how I feel about them
good review mate. i wonder that we here in germany startig this april with the plugin version. full hybrid will be available end 2020. and we would also have steering heating + hud :)
Hi, I live very close to I 275 Exit 169, just 2 miles from that intersection. I would like to know if it would be a good idea to trade in a Cruze diesel for this vehicle next year. I'm getting very good combined real world MPG (36 in the winter, 41 in the summer) and the car is pretty fun around corners, but it sits down low and is difficult to use when it snows heavily. Would this Escape hybrid deliver similar MPG for around $25K ?
I'm waiting for the PHEV (plug-in) for sure. I wish the PHEV was a tad more than 15KWh to get closer to 40miles on electric motor only and qualify for double rebate in Canada. My other gripe is not having LED headlights standard on all trims like mazda products. Sure you can buy aftermarket LED upgrade bulbs but they never as good as OEM.
Hey Chris! Great review as always. I agree this would be a lease only if (you) were to consider purchase. I *own* a 16 C-Max Energi SEL and can say that, while smooth, the powertrain creates significant vibration at low RPM. Though the driving experience largely mirrors your reflections (pushing the electric only boundary with great handling), highway drone is also a problem over 70 mph or under heavy throttle. Even with a decent sound system, high speed travel can be a chore. Either way, urban pure EV driving can be silent save for the whine of the electric motor. Of the two, I’d wait for the plug in which may be eligible for HOV and other tax incentives. For now, I can’t help but think pure electric serves the best drivability or you might as well just stick to gas. Good luck on your search to replace the Edge.
To me, these reviews mean nothing because the most important thing about a car for me is reliability and that's something you can't just review in a week.
Totally agree on the 'gamification' of the Hybrid/Plugin lifestyle - glad you called that out in a few of your videos. It's definitely a thing.

Exactly, the real luxury lies in how it feels to drive/use.

just love this vids !! all very relaxed and chilled!what a great youtube experience! keep that great work
I wished Ford would bring the focus back to America
Tech Defender bring the focus and Fusion back. Fords worst mistake ever. Just drive around and count the fusions and focus you see in a drive.
night drive yes

Where's the dash lights?
lol the whole time I was wondering if he forgot to turn on his lights
@@caglioso Yes me too
I think he did because it seemed like just the daytime running lights were on
Dig the new escape but have concerns about long term reliability. Also wish it had a 360° cam.
Has a friend with a first gen Escape Hybrid. She put 248k miles on it with nothing more than routine maintenance. It was an amazing vehicle!
so what do u like more - rav4 hybrid or ford escape?
Miata
TheTopher Good answer
Miata is always the answer lol

For bmw, I think he should review the 7 series
Didnt he just review like an s4
@@ciello___8307 ?, Link me. Myb he did but its now prob like 6 years old. Im talking 2020 audi
Some ambiental lights would've been perfect...
Are those halogen headlights? They're not that bright.
Someone help! Do I get an escape se hybrid, or an Edge ST-line (not the actual ST)
The CVT simulated transmission shifting points are actually not bad. Seems way better that Subaru's CVTs.
Yeah I’d stay away from Subaru and Nissan CVTs, I’ve heard these Ford transmissions are pretty robust
That's because it's not a belt and pully CVT; More of a Planetary Power Split.
Great review is the attkinson engine direct or multipoint injection also is there any way to change gears manually i did not notice any paddle shifters
It's port injection. There's no way to change gears because it's an eCVT planetary gear set.
paddle shifters are on the titanium kuga

In Canada, there are only the Rav4 as an alternative, there is nothing else...
My question is how did you get the full digital dash on an SE model?
I love the digital dash
Omg is that a halogen headlights?
It's fine chill😂
Yes but only the forester and the rav4 have led standard
LEDs are only available on the Titanium.
@@macmichaelhenson-rogers9850 right but on other cars its the same
Andrew White and CX5
the front end is so cute
I agree, there is a lack lighting in this car where are the dash and steering wheel lights?
Yeah it looks soooo dark while driving at night.

I would definitely consider it if they offered a model with an upgraded interior. Otherwise, nope.

When kuga plug in hybrid review?
This is the Kuga. It’s just the Kuga is called the Escape in the U.S.
Wait...do the steering wheel buttons not have backlighting?
I think he forgot to turn on the lights?
I say that because it’s illegal to not have lights on the steering wheel and in the middle.
Great Review.
Michigan roads are terrible 😊
Specially in Northville - Plymouth area

Yes because how a car drives is obviously not important at all LOL. What are cars made for? Oh yeah driving. Totally means thing.
Ironic considering your profile picture lol
Ford actually did this one right so I imagine it will be reliable. Thank God they didn't put an ecoboost in it
I don't agree it will soon be obsolete! The plug-in will not be available in awd, which the hybrid is.
Dude , its in your nightmares?!
TheTopher Could You do a drive in an even bigger truck with a v8 gas engine?
Was the focus st not popular in America?
Needs brighter headlights lol

You should review the fwd ford focus st 2019
lol nice mustang bro
It got everything but looks imo
It's a ford. Tons of recalls.
That welcome sound. They have been using that terrible sound for like 20 years now. Ford like most other domestics are uninspiring and boring.
Looks like a Hyundai.
