that performace truely was incredible , the amount of vocal control you need to be able to sing that well whilst holding back tears, the womans a goddess!
Woke up this morning thinking about my baby (Im pregannt) and could think of nothing more than singing this song to my baby and listening to it :) Ahhh HAPPINESS.. love sho love scott .. bless them both for thier amazing talents!!!
Scott, those girls-en-route-to-the-subway are frickin crazy. This song is beautiful and if it doesn't move someone that's THEIR frickin problem. So glad you're writing songs. :)
Mr Alan, I can´t tell you how many times I´ve cried my eyes out over this song. I think it´s one of the most intense, deeply loving songs ever, and thank you so much for writing it..!(aaand I´m crying again.. :).) 13 year-olds think everything sucks ;)
really? oh, poor girl, that's so sad! i can't imagine losing someone that close to me. the fact that she's able to smile and joke around and sing at all, really with something like that on her mind is quite admirable. i love her voice! it's so lovely and emotional.
When I listen to SB singing this fabulous song AND think of the one I LOVE! I just weep . . . such depth of emotion and passion. Scott is a genius and SB is an angel. Thank you. Brilliant! I want to use it as our wedding song!
I started reading the story on the right as Shoshana started singing...the entire thing is extremely emotional, from the story to her voice quivering from tears..amazing. Thank you.
I have for a long time thought of this song as a sad death song (because of sho's interpretation to it) .. but recently I feel It can also be interpreted as a mother that has a new baby... thinking about it that way makes me cry just thinking about the love of my daughter!!
dear scott, you simply are amazing. this song changed me and has helped me so much through hard times in my life. not just this song though, your entire album still dreaming wide awake has completely wharped my view of good music. thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with the world. i love sho singing this song and couldn't think if anyone else singing it, and anyone else just does not give it the justice it deserves.
OMIGOD! This made me cry! I don't know if it was because sho was crying, or just because it's such a beautiful song, but...wow! Love it! Scott Alan you are AMAZING!!!! You too Sho!!!! =-)
im such a huge fan . i love this video. amazing how i never get tired of listening to this... You must buy scott alans cd! great songwriter . great voices
I just read the description and I've come to the conclusion that thirteen year old girls have no idea what they're talking about. But again, they'd have no idea what this song is about. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm glad you're pushing on!
This video is incredible! I love her recovery there, the band was really on top of that, too. I was lucky enough to be an ushur for Wicked when it was in Toronto. She plays with the songs she sings, never once was it the same trill. I admire her voice, and courage so much. Thanks for this video
Dear Scott Alan, I'm really hating you right now because it is 4am and as much I would love to get some sleep, I can't stop listening to your music. This has happened on more than one occasion. Stop being amazing. Love, A fan
@GiovannaClapis Shoshana's second album is going to be LEGIT. She's written over a dozen new songs since her first album came out, and there are some real winners in the mix. I think it may really take her places.
this was amazingg..... like i was crying throughout the whole song because its such an emotional song and her emotions adds to my tears.... i wish sho the best of luck on her cd ps. i would love the backing track if tht was possible or just anything to do with this song because i love it and i am a proud owner of this cd
Oh wow, i love her. Anyway, does anyone know if she'll performing anwywhere in the new jersey/new york area anytime soon? I really would love to see her live...
This performance was after that... I hate to say this but Her National Tour performance of Wicked was Remarkable because of the inspiration...Its Terrible she was on tour during the 6 month anniversary of his death.. He passed i believe in March of 06...
@DirtyRottenScoundrel I agree with you here, Lady Gaga is creative. I have to admit that her songs are very original. The thing I like about Lady Gaga is that she is, IMO, a personification of a lot of things, and that's what makes her original as you said yourself (that's also what the mainstream culture wants, though it doesn't mean I'm underestimating her talent). ^^
@wickedphant0m Really? I didn't know she was making a new album! I'll definetly check it out. And I don't doubt it can get huge, this woman's got a voice.. :] Thanks for the heads up!
She used to crack during her performances of Wicked when she sang "No good deed" due to the loss of her boyfriend (he was in a car accident) so I wonder if thats why she cracks up?
@sydneyparra96 I agree in some ways, but fame wouldn't be so underrated nowadays if we haven't made it become a "common" thing. You're right, indeed, it can sometimes not show all the talent people have, bt sometimes the opposite can happen, and that's what they would deserve. Bt I think they don't really want all this kind of attention, because they have a community that loves them a lot, so why ask for more? & you're right, they are awesome already, & they don't need fame to increase that. ^^
I wonder why people like Shoshana, Idina, Stephanie J. Block, Kristin Chenoweth, Megan Hilty, etc are not MORE famous! They are pure talent, and yet, you have kids with freaky hair doing shit on stage and being appreciated like the hit of the century! Humanity has just gone mad.
@GiovannaClapis While these girls are obviously well-trained and can act a song like nobody's fuckin business, they simply don't have the writing talent that people like Lady Gaga, Adele (who, IMO, has the best voice in contemporary pop...AND she's an incredible songwriter...), Bruno Mars, etc. Even Ke$ha writes all of her own stuff, as well as Britney's "Till the World Ends." They may appear like "kids with freaky hair," but there's a LOT more under that. They, too, are pure talent.
@bnorem09 See I just don't understand why these kind of comments are necessary. Why does it have to be a competition? Why can't people like all of them? I realise that some people are probably just going to look at my username and write me off as some crazy, obsessive fanzel but I love Idina, I love Shoshana, I love Eden and I love Kerry as well. Idina had nothing to do with this video so why was it necessary to bring her into it? I am truly not trying to start a fight, I just don't understand.
@DirtyRottenScoundrel That's really nice! :] I'm not pro about MT, bt I agree that some songs MT performers write suck, though the 1% left is great! LOL, neither do I want to listen to "power ballads 24/7", and I'm a theater freak. ^^ I dn't think they'd make it to the mainstream culture, bt I don't think they want it either. As I said below, they have a community that loves them for everything they do. I just think that they deserve that kind of recognition, even though they don't rly need it.
I think its because her boyfriend died. She had said thats why she had trouble with "No Good Deed" during Wicked. He was killed in a car accident in 2006
@DirtyRottenScoundrel they are indeed talented to know what it is that the mass culture wants (Adele here is an exception, her songs have more soul and her voice is amazing). But I just can't agree that theater people don't have the "writing talent" that these others have. Please notice that I'm not saying the ones you mentioned suck, in fact I like some of their songs. With "kids with freaky hair" I meant Justin Bieber, and please, don't say that his songs are genius. ^^
@GiovannaClapis But having studied Musical Theatre at Boston Conservatory, I can assure you that 99% of MT performers are NOT songwriters. Songwriting is a very specific gift. Of the few composers that I personally know, one is completely extraordinary (he'll be the next big thing in MT, for sure). But his music is TOTALLY Musical Theatre. It could never make it in mainstream music. And as much as I love Musical Theatre, I do NOT want to listen to power ballads and belt-fests 24/7...lol.
@GiovannaClapis LOL. Justin Bieber is pure SOMETHING, alright. But it's definitely not talent. lol. I completely agree with you there. Adele is certainly the cream of the crop. I would disagree that Lady Gaga is simply talented in knowing what mainstream culture wants (while I love Bruno Mars, I don't know him well enough to really judge his motivation). She is a classically trained musician as well as a phenomenal songwriter, and I think her originality and honesty is what makes her so amazing.
i think shoshana bean is the greatest, she seems so so nice and she has an amazing voice. definitely one of the best actors/singers today!!! i try and sing some Wicked / xanadu songs on my page--check me out!
@GiovannaClapis Well, Kristen is big now because of Glee, Megan Hilty is about to be huge because of "Smash," and Idina is relatively well known for Rent, etc. The reason they can't all be pop stars, however, is because they don't write their own music. Some of them do write music, but lets be honest...it generally sucks or is very mediocre. Matthew Morrison is pretty good, relatively.
10 years later and this performance still makes me cry.
Still, 8 years later, EASILY the BEST performance of this song on TH-cam!!
10 years on and I keep on coming back!
@@DanGalla i reply just to remind you to come back to this beautiful song in case you've forgotten it all. Have a nice day!
I come back every year since this was posted
CRYING! Perfect!
that performace truely was incredible , the amount of vocal control you need to be able to sing that well whilst holding back tears, the womans a goddess!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS voice.

How could anyone say that song is horrible? it's gorgeous, and Shoshana is phenomonal as always
No one can sing this song quite like Shoshana. Truly incredible.
Woke up this morning thinking about my baby (Im pregannt) and could think of nothing more than singing this song to my baby and listening to it :) Ahhh HAPPINESS.. love sho love scott .. bless them both for thier amazing talents!!!

Absolutely gorgeous!

gah....i LOVE her. she is amazing
I love this woman! Beautiful voice, beautiful song!
Scott, those girls-en-route-to-the-subway are frickin crazy. This song is beautiful and if it doesn't move someone that's THEIR frickin problem. So glad you're writing songs. :)
I can hear this song all day long...
It means so much to me
I LOVE IT
Mr Alan,
I can´t tell you how many times I´ve cried my eyes out over this song. I think it´s one of the most intense, deeply loving songs ever, and thank you so much for writing it..!(aaand I´m crying again.. :).)

Scott you write the music of my heart.
really? oh, poor girl, that's so sad! i can't imagine losing someone that close to me. the fact that she's able to smile and joke around and sing at all, really with something like that on her mind is quite admirable.

Shoshana Bean= AMAZING
Dear Scott Alan,
I'm really hating you right now because it is 4am and as much I would love to get some sleep, I can't stop listening to your music. This has happened on more than one occasion. Stop being amazing.
Love,
A fan
"It's because I have perfect pitch" Hilarious. But this is a beautiful song and get the right powerhouse to sing it and it's magic. Wonderful.
better than the recording
great quality sound to her voice, amazing
I love the tone of her voice from 6:08
@GiovannaClapis Shoshana's second album is going to be LEGIT. She's written over a dozen new songs since her first album came out, and there are some real winners in the mix. I think it may really take her places.

She used to crack during her performances of Wicked when she sang "No good deed" due to the loss of her boyfriend (he was in a car accident) so I wonder if thats why she cracks up?
Scott, Please Re-upload these in 1080p?
+MrEric Rockinout was there even 1080p back then? :)

@bnorem09 Why compare? 2 totally different types of performers with talent that blows a lot of people away.
Even Ke$ha writes all of her own stuff, as well as Britney's "Till the World Ends." @Leadingdude
I'm EXACTLY the same! :)
:) that's great! (so do I!!)
and I'm sorry, I know I didn't think everything sucked when I was thirteen..

@tipofmytongue1024 I have no idea what this is about but its funny. haha
Subliminal isn't the word I would use for that song. Lol!
vocal cries...?
yeah they rock... :)
but they're really hard just to pull out of thin air
xoxo
haha, yes...
