it doesnt matter if you cut some of the connectors plus, you can just use scissors to cut away excess plastic (and connectors) just tried with "over sized connectors" -sim card and works fine with iphone4
grizzwinny it DOES cost money to use 4g and text others etc... Even at way to high prices. Ever wondered how much it would cost you if you would have send 1gig of data worth of text messages?
Adama BE That's how the economy functions dumb ass. It costs these carriers billions every year to provide your service and you expect things for free ? Either you're delusional or just plain stupid . Micro Sims were made to save space just like nano Sims were as these devices get thinner . Yeah they could make these things without Sim cards and the older 3G devices didn't require them unless you were travelling overseas. 3G is painfully slow compared to 4G LTE.
@Tokiopopski Since he is mentioning AT&T and T-Mobile, i figured he was talking about the carriers here, but i do know there are other carriers outside the country that work with the iPhone 4. Nice for you to jump to conclusions, so sad
cool =O My Simcard is exactly the same as the one that came with YOUR iPhone only mine is af course not a micro one. The Contact points are EXACTLY the same so If I buy that cutter and the iPhone I can Haz iPhone :D
@JakeM501 but what if you do then you've f***ed up a simcard and you'll have to explain to your cellphone carrier that you f***ed up you sim card trying to make it smaller to fit a iphone etc.
I have the cutter and the adaptor. The cutter works well but i really HATE the adaptors! its so hard to put the sim adaptor with a micro sim into your phone
Yes if you have T mobile and you want to use a iPhone 4s 4G Internet iPhone on T mobile you can use a noosy brand sim card cutter to cut a T mobile sim into a micro sim size so you can use a iPhone 4S on T mobile you just have to make sure the iPhone 4s is unlocked by someone in the cellphone store you bought it from and then cut a t mobile card into micro sim size put it in the phone and then it shooed work like T mobile iPhone 4s
@THE1FBI a carrier unlocked iPhone is an iPhone that is unlocked to all GSM carriers across the globe. a factory unlocked iPhone is an iPhone that has been unlocked by (presumably) Apple and is ready for use without SIM-card and there will be most likely be an simlock. You'll have to connect it to iTunes and you'll be able to use it, but only with the carriers Apple approves (in the USA is that AT&T).
Sure, this is a professional way, but I just made a template of my micro sim on a normal sim, then cut the template out and stuck the micro sim on the cutout older/larger sim card. Works like a charm, and not I will have my old iPhone to use while the new one is being repaired. Genius! Anyways, this is a great product nonetheless
You can hand cut it, if you have a premade one with your phone just line them up and either use scissors or something else because as you can see there was a tiny white line on one side still. It might not work so you MAY need a new one. I can't guarantee anything...
Most service providers are now designing their sims with the mico-sim press out from the normal size sim. The micro-sim will pop back into the frame for normal use if required. Just ask your provider. In the UK GiffGaff linked to O2 are providing this service now.
In my county you can only have the iphone on T-mobile, i am from croatia, europe, and iphone 4 is coming to my country in autumn, but i am not sure about all the SIM cards i think our users only have the standard large ones so w8 for some i phone hardware updates till autumn
wow this is really helpful, just bought myself one, thanks for the video man. i was planning on buying a iphone but im not eligible so my friend is going to buy one and i was going to switch Sim cards but i didn't no the Sim cards were that small. so i bought one
Did get a cutter with some adapters I ordered, the metal seemed to overlap it a bit so I went for scissors on my real sim with no practice... it worked perfectly :D (Still I wouldn't recommend that anyone does what I did, I'm a professionally trained idiot)
@martinw917 He doesn't buy them himself, companies send them to him for free to review and sometimes he gets to keep them, other times he has to send them back. I do beta testing and it's like what Jon does, but I'm not aloud to tell anyone about them lol
@Mr1Runescape2 idk about the incredible but on regualr verizon phones, you can send audio files to yourself in a text message and then set that as the ringtone. but for this method they have to be below a certain size or you cant send it
@AppleMaster10 Yes your plan/usage and limits are linked to your account not the device. you can also just buy a micro sim from londondrugs for $10 other rogers dealers will also have them then call rogers to activate it.
I have an old Cingular card with a big data point, and I just cut it with scissors and all I'm left with it the data point, and it works just fine in my iPhone 4. Avoiding upgrading cause $10 unlimited data lol.
so if i were to get a iphone 4 and i have a iphone 3g right now can i use my same sim card and put it in the iphone 4 by just cutting it to microsim size? and everything will be the same with my contacts still in it? thank you
my t-mobile sim card's metal part isnt as big as the one in the video... mine is a fairly newer one. (2011 i got it). From what it looks like it should work? I hope... i plan on buying this.
@THE1FBI This was the case with all the previous iPhones. I'm not sure if it's the same with the iPhone 4, since John has mentioned that there's no simlock on the iPhone 4. I haven't veryfied yet.
wow didnt relize this vid just came out and lol the first people. but nice vid thats sweet, sucks how they keep making small things smaller, we dont need nano technology in things we might need to swap.
@Blasphemy4kidz well thats sad... since the phone spec wise isnt any special yet having reception problem .. compared to other phone with better spec with the almost similar size using normal sim
The reason Apple started using micro-SIMs is to minimize the amount of space wasted in the inside of the phone. Judging by the insides of the iPhone, there really wasn't any room for a regular-sized SIM
@holypredator While the iPhone 4 may not have the most ground-breaking specs, it performs extremely well, and in a very tiny package. The HTC EVO has way more room for components.
this is the perfect video-just what i was looking for! Bought a Iphone 4 on Craigslist and need a micro-sim from my sim card now!! Thanks so much for the helpful hints!! :)
@SnailzRus i havent read the comment of the person ur replying to but im assuming u could always just say u lost the sim card and have ur number transferred to another sim
all new T-Mobile sim cards since APRIL 2010 use the same contact points used in a micro sim so you can use this with T-Mobile sim cards from after APRIL 2010
voice is very lovely , audio quality is awesome
it doesnt matter if you cut some of the connectors
plus, you can just use scissors to cut away excess plastic (and connectors)
just tried with "over sized connectors" -sim card and works fine with iphone4
why did they make micro sim...
too save space...
LOL if they wanted. They could make phones without sim and completely free for calling...but yeah the economy wants money money money.
Adama BE doesnt cost money for a sim and you can change phones whenever you want without going to the store
grizzwinny it DOES cost money to use 4g and text others etc... Even at way to high prices. Ever wondered how much it would cost you if you would have send 1gig of data worth of text messages?

@VeryCoolMax hey, im ukrainian! you can have someone buy it in US for like 500 bucks unlocked and send it to you.
@Tokiopopski Since he is mentioning AT&T and T-Mobile, i figured he was talking about the carriers here, but i do know there are other carriers outside the country that work with the iPhone 4. Nice for you to jump to conclusions, so sad

what's the point of this then? just mess it up !!!
You can hand cut it, if you have a premade one with your phone just line them up and either use scissors or something else because as you can see there was a tiny white line on one side still. It might not work so you MAY need a new one. I can't guarantee anything...

One technical question: what are the sizes of the contacts on the micro sin from AT&T?
Thanks,
Ma.C. (Romania)

Steve jobs said in the keynote that they used the microsim because a normal sim card would not have fit into the design.
@AppleMaster10 Yes your plan/usage and limits are linked to your account not the device. you can also just buy a micro sim from londondrugs for $10 other rogers dealers will also have them then call rogers to activate it.

So if i have a bigger sim that isn't supported, i'm fucked? isn't there a way that i can still use that one?
my t-mobile sim card's metal part isnt as big as the one in the video... mine is a fairly newer one. (2011 i got it). From what it looks like it should work? I hope... i plan on buying this.

omg i have the sim like the 2nd one... how do i get it smaller so i can cut it or can my carrier exchange it?
@xXEliteNewbieXx Hello, you obviously don't know countires exist outside of North America. So sorry for you.
all new T-Mobile sim cards since APRIL 2010 use the same contact points used in a micro sim so you can use this with T-Mobile sim cards from after APRIL 2010
who said apple did this? maybe it was att or something...
I find it all really stupid... OH LETS CUTE 1CM PLASTIC AND CALL IT MICROOOOOO pffffffff w/e
Nice little tool to have... Great Video Jon
great vid jon, i was worrying how i would switch phones if i ever decided to sell my iphone 4.
Hang on i have a 4.3.3 & it comes with normal sim which fits perfectly in the tray not a microsim. are you sure version 4.3.3 needs a microsim???
My t mobile prepaid sim has sim has smaller contact points, hopefully it will work with the iphone 4
If you have at&T and bought a iphone 4 off somebody and wanted to cut your sim card to make it micro does the iphone 4 have to be unlocked?
I had the big contacts on my T-mobile chip messed up the first one and got the second one perfectly. Its a very snug fit so be careful!
Umm yeah i cut my own sim to a micro sim with just a pair of scissors, I also bought a micro sim adaptor on ebay for $3.
Yeah $3 > $45
@XMw2xSKATERx18X It Has to be unlocked, Many jailbreaks also can unlock your iPhone You will also NOT get the 3G speeds, Only EDGE Coverage
ok I tried the website it says the site is forbiden does anyone know of anywhere you can get this device with the adapters cheap?
this is soo stupid....the cutter costs more than just getting a new sim.....wtf..product fail
In Ukraine this DEVICE costs 2000$ so how can we buy it :D if the wage of avarage people is 300$/month ..... it's really sad (((
Why you doen´t use a cutter knives? That does the job without paying this crap and waste money. Look at some movies on youtube
Hey guys I'm getting a ps3 should I get the fat or slim and xbox fanboys don't tell me to get a 360 because I already have one.
And then take back the stapler thing and tell the place you bought the wrong item haha
So if i have a blackberry from sprint, which doesn't have a Sim card i cant do this?
@TICSS800 so the 3gs is the 3g and the 3g is the 2g.weird...it cost less calories to write iphone 4 than 4g...lol
lol. thats pretty cool. i actually have an old t-mobile sim and i just might consider getting an iphone 4 now.
Every one watch iPhone 4g on sprint from tehkseven at the end it makes fun of jon jon4lakers jon rettiger
Thanks for doing videos no one else are doing. I haven't seen a video about this by other tech reviewers.
if I did this on a contract sim (to be used on a iphone) would it affect the sim?
is it really worth buying one of those even if you can just do it by hand?
Very smart product, nice review!
thankxxxxxx
i have a blackberry with sprint, and it came with a sim card could i use it with the iphone?? anyone
Apple used the micro sim because it is smaller.. more space for other stuff Jon. No need to thank ;)
@rickygreengiant
He just uploaded it, it take about a hour after upload for the quality to improve.
@SaiVihtooMyint yeah but, you'd still the adapters to put the microsim in a full size sim phone
@brianskatesbath people who dont want to pay 250 to end their wireless contract to use a iphone...
Nice vid, Jon. But it's only good 4 some blondee chicks. Who can't even remember their name. LOL
wow smart idea! i wanna give this a try cuz im on tmoboile & want a iphone!
@T3CHDR4G0N Why yes, you feed it and take it out for walks once a week...Until the signal dies.
when you cut the tmobile one and some of it got cut off did the tmobile sims card still work?
@martinw917 He gets alot of phones to review for like 2 weeks and stuff.
Has anyone cut the tmobile sim card he had there? And did it still work after cutting it?
has anyone noticed that it's under pets & animals category? maybe the iphone 4 is a pet =D
@thesumokid Yes it will work, Since you have an AT&T SIM card I assume, No problems there
@GenodInNyc if u pay 800 bucks for an unlocked iphone than u can pay 40 bucks to get 3g
great tool but it's $45 a micro sim is $10 so if you only need one it is not worth it.
@Hanklink1014 but i dont wanna buy i new phone just for the card. can u buy just a card?
That's great! Consider yourself lucky, it probably doesn't happen for most people.
Guess what it works so gtfo people who dont believe it and thanks for the vid sir.
so it's possibly safer to use scissors with the big contact point sims then right?
$45??? I don't think so...I'll stick to my old fashioned knife
TMOBILE NOW SELLS MICRO SIM CARD, they're actually free, so no need to do this.
Jon, your camera has been really suckin lately. Bounces in and out focus a lot.
aww dude thts BS you hav to find a sim tht has the same size contact points
on the box it says iphone 4g...wha the hell is iphone 4g????it is iphone 4!
guys the reason they used micro sim cuz so they can make the battery bigger
@bozotheclown9 jailbrake it and there are ways to unlock once you do that.
nice tutorial! Gonna need that when I get my iPhone 4!
That is okay I bought one from amazon a few months ago, thanks any ways.
lol i got sooo scare when he said its going to get loud.. when it didn't.
why bc they didnt have much room in the phone lol thanks tho jon nice vid

@Appleman5487 twenty bucks on ebay. with adapters and all. free shipping.
does anybody no how to set a song as a ringtone on the droid incredible?
Quite refreshing to see a new type of video from you.
Great product, great installation but video out of focus ruins it all...
@rob16875 sure you could kid. I can make an iphone 4 with marshmallows.
wait jon, so i have verizon, and if i buy just an iphone i can use it/?
Well of course the chips are not identical. You have one UPSIDE DOWN!
"The Parts that sorta look gold" The whole card is gold?
It's 50 bucks for something you only use once if you need it at all.
