If the laws made it harder for people to purchase assault weapons, 20 6 and 7 year olds might still be alive.

The nightclub fire your talking about was in 1986-87. It was in New York City. He was in the nightclub with his girlfriend. She broke up with him. He got really pissed-off, he went to a gasoline-station. The store clerk refused to sell him the gasoline. Caused he had no container to carry the gas. He convinced the store clerk that he had a car about 1-2 miles away with no gas. He bought about a dollar worth of gasoline. Went back to the nightclub and set it on fire.

I am both an educator and a gun owner and have a very heavy heart about what happened. I know that along with myself, many teachers would put their life on the line to protect your children. That being said I am also from Oklahoma and can tell you exactly where I was the day the bombing took place in Oklahoma City. Timothy McVeigh was able to kill 168 people, 19 of which were children under 6, with fertilizer, diesel, and a moving truck. Evil people will do evil things.
I cant believe the shop has as many AR's as they do. The shop in my area (a week ago they had 30ish AR's on the shelves) is sold out of just about everything. They put one or 2 S&W M+P's out at a time and are charging $1500!! Last tuesday they were $799

You guys really hit it home with this one, I just cant stand the ideal that "guns are evil" or that "guns alone kill people", guns and the brave men who carried them founded north america, and guns will keep it free and safe.
I agree with you MrKrause.....sadly. I've trained for years as a soldier, I would have never imagined that training would be this important so as to protect my friends and family.
An entire generation of U.S. Citizens grew up watching shoot-em-up cowboy movies and TV shows, shoot-em-up war movies and TV shows, shoot-em-up gangster movies and TV shows, playing cops-n-robbers, cowboys-n-indians, etc, etc, etc...all "desensitizing" them, yet relatively few of those people have ever gone out and deliberately committed murder. It is not just the video games, or just the economy, or just the color of their skin -- or any other ONE thing alone that is at the root of the problem.
It wasn't until recently did this whole fiasco cool down but I remember when it was at its peak. The local gun stores would have their entire parking lots full, plus a line of cars going half a mile down the road...EVERY day ALL, day. I couldn't imagine what it had to be like working there....it must have been like black Friday in retail stores for like 3 months straight!
A LOT of people did that! I'm reading about mass shortages of Bushmasters in particular and the Federal check system crashed there were so many people buying guns lol. More power to you guys.
We can get out in front of a gun ban law with a non-intrusive nationally recognized educational program about gun maintainence, safety, and storage. When that inanimate tool is in a safe for instance is much less likely for something irresponsible to happen. So people take this class and take the same exam anywhere in the USA, we get a certificate when accomplished. This cert becomes such a well known accomplishment with value that it could satisfy most people on either side of the issue.

What I find interesting is that the government trusts me enough to issue me an M-16 and give me a higher security clearance than the secret service to work at a nuclear facility. Right after the shooting in Connecticut, my mom literally forced my Dad to buy a concealed firearm for work and she almost bought one too.
I cant believe the shop has as many AR's as they do. The shop in my area (a week ago they had 30ish AR's on the shelves) is sold out of just about everything. They put one or 2 S&W M+P's out at a time and are charging $1500!! Last tuesday they were $799
We've been special order only on AR and AK since the 20th of Dec. 6 days a week. Crazy stuff.

You guys really hit it home with this one, I just cant stand the ideal that "guns are evil" or that "guns alone kill people", guns and the brave men who carried them founded north america, and guns will keep it free and safe.

I've trained for years as a soldier, I would have never imagined that training would be this important so as to protect my friends and family.
I love these guys.
An entire generation of U.S. Citizens grew up watching shoot-em-up cowboy movies and TV shows, shoot-em-up war movies and TV shows, shoot-em-up gangster movies and TV shows, playing cops-n-robbers, cowboys-n-indians, etc, etc, etc...all "desensitizing" them, yet relatively few of those people have ever gone out and deliberately committed murder.
It is not just the video games, or just the economy, or just the color of their skin -- or any other ONE thing alone that is at the root of the problem.
That's like saying the baseball made you strike out not the pitcher.

It wasn't until recently did this whole fiasco cool down but I remember when it was at its peak.
The local gun stores would have their entire parking lots full, plus a line of cars going half a mile down the road...EVERY day ALL, day.
I couldn't imagine what it had to be like working there....it must have been like black Friday in retail stores for like 3 months straight!

A LOT of people did that! I'm reading about mass shortages of Bushmasters in particular and the Federal check system crashed there were so many people buying guns lol. More power to you guys.
We can get out in front of a gun ban law with a non-intrusive nationally recognized educational program about gun maintainence, safety, and storage. When that inanimate tool is in a safe for instance is much less likely for something irresponsible to happen. So people take this class and take the same exam anywhere in the USA, we get a certificate when accomplished. This cert becomes such a well known accomplishment with value that it could satisfy most people on either side of the issue.

Great Britan has never alowed guns at all.
What I find interesting is that the government trusts me enough to issue me an M-16 and give me a higher security clearance than the secret service to work at a nuclear facility. Yet they say I shouldn't be allowed to have a certain model of AR and a high capacity magazine. Now what part of that makes any type of sense?

I very much agree with everything you are saying. I wish the legislators could see and listen to this. This is all very common sense type stuff. Inanimate objects can't possibly kill by themselves.
