People actually whine about blowing up a couple $100 guns? Wonder how they reacted to Australia and the UK crushing thousands of custom German made target rifles and vintage WWII weapons.
nomad8723 Makes you want to punch a liberal in the back of the head. I started watching news coverage of one of these events and couldn't bear to see more than a few seconds.
I wonder if anyone in america realizes that (to my knowledge) every dictator has legally disarmed it's people before coming through and killing them. So many people here in America are so gung ho about gun control. I know i learned Gun Control in my hunter's safety course when i was 11, and that is the only kind we need here now!!
What's up guys? I just wanted to take a second and say thanks for the vids, especially the series on the Hi-Point. I purchased one of there 9mm carbines back in 2001 and it broke in 2002. I've been carrying that broken thing around since then without knowing it had a lifetime warranty. I sent it off 2 days ago thanks to you guys. Don't sweat the haters.
I appreciate your dedication and education! I'm late but glad I found you guy's. Just found out Barry passed yesterday even being new here it saddened me. Be safe and keep up the good work! RIP Barry :(
@ 18:00 Good point. You are not tearing them up in vein, or even just for a few people's knowledge. You are sharing it with thousands! Keep up the good work.
I really like this video ( like all your videos) and wanted to say I appreciate the fact you are willing to " Take the risk so we don't have to." Extremely educational videos, that remain entertaining and fun to watch. I hope this finds you well, and thank you for the great work.
You keep blowing things up, Ill keep watching. I don't know how much I have learned just watching you guys in dealing with my Mosin's. Keep up the good work.
I don't comment often and I think I may be in a quiet majority here... The torture test videos are some of the best on the channel. People who know guns and understand that our lives may very well depend on these tools value the information you present. And they're done so with an enjoyable and entertaining sense of wit and style. Keep them coming.
I have two M91/30 Mosin Nagants, and it's thanks to the Torture Testing that I decided to buy a second one. I learned a lot seeing just how strong the Mosin Nagant is, and I decided I wanted another because of that. Thank you both very much for doing these videos, It was very helpful to learn just how safe my rifles really are.
Just wanted to say I appreciate that you guys do make these sacrifices and I agree 100% that the knowledge is well worth it. Seeing your reactions the first time you shot the 444 marlin out of the 410 is a perfect case in point.
Your Hi Point video is what convinced me to purchase my Hi Point .45....damn good shooter....you guy's destroyed that 9 millimeter and that's when I made my mind up to get one, the .45...Thanks for great vids and all you teach and explain....Live free or die....Ed...
I like yalls board in the background makes it look like a real research thing but i love seeing guns push to the breaking point makes me feel more confident in what i carry. Yall always have awesome stuff to show thank yall guys i hope i could go to your place and exchange some knowledge and buy more guns for my collection
I think they got a point I'm a heavy gun owner and I like to see what will make my firearm fail we pay good money for what we won't or need and if my firearm can't live up to the stander then I got a problem they are for my protection as well as for my family ..so you guys making these video clearly explain end that it their personal weapons they are using to education us on the fail firearm subject ..thanks for the video it was educational
Hey Eric and Barry, just a note from the Desert Edge of Oregon and Idaho. I appreciate your common sense approach to weapons ownership and sensible use. Just watched Episode 26 again on Glocks. Your views on the Glock is the reason I chose to buy the Gen 4 G26, love the piece and this is from a staunch 1911 carrier and lover. Still carry the SR1911 but now include the G26 as an EDC at times. Keep up the good work and thank you for your service.
you guys do a great job on your videos. I'm a veteran OEF 10-11. now security contractor. I'm a seasoned shooter but I still have learned alot from your videos. I bought a hi point C-9 just based on your video it was only a hundred and some change. I figured hell with it. I gotta say thats an alright gun for the price probably already put 2-300 rounds couple cleanings later still goin strong.
Loathe as I am to see ANY kind of a gun destroyed, there's a HUGE difference between melting down an "evil" gun and testing something to destruction. Eric and Barry do this kind of thing, if not in a strictly scientific way, certainly a methodical and clearly explained way. For me, it just shows how well firearms are made, even something as old as a Mosin or something as cheap as a HiPoint is still a very tough item to damage. Keep up the great work, guys....
Thank's guy's for all your video's and the hard work you do to help all of us learn, keep up the good fight and the excellent work, thank's guy's Patrick
I do enjoy and appreciate the videos you two put out and share. I love learning about guns and especially how much punishment a certain gun can take. I wish there were more videos on these subjects and can't wait for more. Thank you both.
I don't care why you do it, just keep doing it. I love seeing things get destroyed, especially when I don't have to foot the bill. :) I'm a designer of commercial skylights, and sometimes we need to build a mock up just to test to the limits and destroy so the customer feels comfortable buying our product. When you got over $100,000 on the line, paying $10,000 for testing is not that bad. Keep it up, you guys rock.
That said Thankyou guys for the videos and please keep them coming. I had a guy tell me my 2 3/4 pump shotgun was weak because he was shooting 3.5 mag and I think he actually thought a 2 3/4 was no longer effective
Hey IV8888 I recently had a buddy consider buying a mosin but he wasn't sure about it I showed him your mosin torturous test and he was sold great videos.
Barry is the coolest guy ever. Been watching the channel since watching your old mosin videos (bought my first once because of you, 5 years laterish... 10 mosins) Nice vidya!
Great video guys!, no matter what condition something is in, you will always have people who think that what you are destroying is "a waste" even if it was scrap metal before you got it! I've had people (with issues) give death threats for making washing machines tear themselves apart under their own power! Being in Australia i do feel sorry to see those guns destroyed, but the learning and entertainment is well worth it!, keep it up guys!
John Moses Browning always said "Build it strong enough... then double it." And most of the guns I've come across even the cheap ones are built very strongly even if they aren't exactly fitted well. K31's are a prime example of an old strong, beautiful and superbly accurate rifle.
I dig the torture videos! I think the Hi-Point one was the first IV8888 vid I watched, because I was ragging a friend about buying that brick. It definitely adjusted my opinion of the Hi-Points. I appreciate you all sharing your knowledge and experiments!
I personally love these torture tests, as barry says "We are doing it to learn". Well I'm here to learn. you guys are my favorite gun related channel. Keep up the good work!
Great video once again guys. I think it would be awesome to see a torture test on an 870. I would be very interested in seeing is performance under extreme conditions.
Intro and outro clips and ok if kept to a minimum I generally jump past the intros because I want the meat, not the window dressing. I've noticed that several channels have shortened theirs to 5 seconds or less because of the complaints about the time. A good into would be a short shot of the store shelves and change it weekly to keep us informed on what is available. Kudos to the boss for letting you guys do these informative and entertaining vids.
If I may add, before, and during early years of WWII, guns were made by a diferent quality standards than afterwards. It is during the WWII that militaries realised that cheaper gun that can be quickly mass produced is actualy better, thou not for a soldier, but for a war. Cheap, mass produced, stamped metal guns won over carefuly milled, expensive weapons with finely polished wooden stocks. Since you guys are Americans best example for you is replacing Tomy gun with much cheaper Grease gun.
Guns are machines, We SHOULD ALWAYS test our machines and improve their safety, realiability, and features. It's not just a Brand Name or Model, it's the Trust and Value behind that "Tool" Good work! Thank's for your time and effort.
As a Military Veteran I must say. I understand why you do what you do. the biggest thing I see missing in the gun world is edcuation. People let their own ego's and need to "have" get in the way of what is important. I support you.
We are dealing partly with pistols, but I understand what you mean. It goes with bolt actions though. I figured this doing a little bit looking into the differences between the .300 Magnum and Winchester short magnum. Both of them use similar powder loads and slight increase in velocity in the short magnum but pressures are way higher in the short magnum and will produce "bolt thrust" which will wear out your lugs and increase your headspace eventually.
My attitude when I was looking for an old Lee Enfield .303, generally a Mark 3 Star, I had seen plenty in bad condition, yet when I looked at one particular piece, the action was smooth, all the item needed was a bit of sanding and some polish, everything else was brilliant.
when i bought my used Mauser M24/52c, the barrel was rusty (but not shot out) and a bit of rust was in the receiver, there are scratches on the wood everywhere. When I went through several stages of cleaning the barrel with different tools and sprays i got it clean. When I fired on the range on 100m it was as accurate as most other peoples Mosin Mauser there, with some being a bit more accurate. If i take the time to aim and get prepared I can get a 5 shot group in a circle with the radius of 10cm with the iron sights, which for me isnt bad considering its mostly matching number and i got it for cheaper than beaten up mosins
I do appreciate your tests. When our gov buys a weapon for our troops, is it a lobbyist or a truly tested as they say it was? Civilian firearms as well. Guns have been used in emergency situations to save lives in unexpected ways not according to design. But discovered it still functioned flawlessly. The degree of confidence is so enhanced and level of appreciation of the craftsmanship. Of course the warnings of disappointments too. THanks you guys. well done.
Keep up the good work fella's we would all like to try this out if we could, and enjoy watching you do it. Most results are very suprising to me.GREAT SHOW
Great video. I have really enjoyed all your vids. Your recent torture test of the mosin helped me convince a friend to buy one. I love mine but he just was not quite convinced that it would last another hundred years and shoot well ( he's really hard headed that way considering he has seen me fire my 112 year old 30-40 Krag)
The differance between science and screwing around is writing it down, or in this case putting the video on TH-cam. Thanks for these torture tests and the how to videos, excellent information you guys put out
I have a very good idea of what im typing about. I've seen many AR's blow with steel cased ammo because they left one in the chamber once they were done shooting. With steel especially, you should clean out the gunk so the steel doesnt bind to it and cause overpressure in the gas tube. Brass flexes inside the chamber but steel doesnt, which is why lockups happen sometimes with steel cased ammo.
Eric, when people hate u, it usually means your doing something right....And with all their "hating", they are still watching.......Keep at it, love your videos..
These guys are salesmen first (of course), but they are also Rare in the salesmen breed. They are simply being honest all the time in the field of firearms. These guys are first of all gun enthusiasts, in their own style, credo and outcome. Come on, who else other kind of person could advice You into fluent use of your everyday gun of Your choice.
Yes, it should hold just fine. The receiver isn't what the problem would be, it would be the chamber/barrel. Check the stamping on your barrel to see if it is rated for a 3''. My Remington is rated for both 2 3/4 and 3''.
We have a Remington Model 12C. Over 100 years old and still spits 22lr like it was made yesterday. Of course, that's only because we replaced the ejector pin and spring. Still love the rifle, though.
Keep the tortue tests coming guys! Awesome. I'm intruiged about the more expensive options you're talking about. Off the top of my head I'm thinking SKS or some AK varient. I'd love to see an SKS (which would still be "cheap"). AK would make sense, because everyone claims it's so tough and durable. The obvious expensive choice is an AR15. Damn, I'd love to see any of those three. Can't wait! Huge fan.
Hot rodding ammo can wear out your firearms faster and can push your headspace further and further (like in bolt actions) deteriorate accuracy, beat up your action in semi auto, and in cases can allow the pressure to escape at the breach which can injure/kill you. Just thought I'd say it. I mean when you read the manual your pistol, it says it can run +p+ ammo, but warns it will wear out your firearm faster.
I enjoy the torture test videos. It honestly shows how safe these guns are even if you manage to do something stupid just once. I particularly enjoyed the Mosin torture test as I had just recently picked up an M44. The Russians sure know how to build guns. Keep doing the torture tests its fun to watch and very informative.
i used a lee loader on .223 rem for a little while before i got a full press. tips are get a good quality non marring hammer and a digital caliper for c.o.a.l. also for accuracy you need a powder dropper and scale
A good example of a milsurp rifle that can have many hidden issues but usually looks good is the vz-52. Most of them will be covered in bed liner paint, but the stock will be full cracks. The bores in them may look good, but the hard to maintain gas system may be corroded to hell.
So grateful! Concepts and looks don’t show what real world testing does! Your anderson videos are going to help me build out my Anderson. I wish every gun had a MELTDOWN!!
I would LOVE to see a Carcano torture test. So many people say that they will blow up with unnatural loads as well as with rechambering in anything stronger than the original caliber.
Obviously there is a relationship between velocity and pressure, but it is not linear. A 1% change in velocity is often accompanied by up to a 3% change in pressure. Also, as many reloaders know, different powders can produce dramatically different pressures at the same velocity and vise-versa.
Just a thing about those Hakims, they're not made on German anything, they're Egyptian-made Ag/42 Ljungmans from Sweden! Love the show guys, keep it up! /A Swedish infantryman.
01:42 A great lesson in life guys. From that point on you can literally apply that to anything in life. Especially people. They judge each other based on what they see and hear in the first five minutes and move on from there, believing that it is whole heartily correct to do so. It is not. It's what children do. Being 19 and having had the same attitude and persona for a few years, you start to realize that most young adults, atleast in california, really are children.
You should make a video comparing all of your full auto meltdowns and how each of the guns compared in terms of how many rounds were fired before failure and what type of failures happened in the different guns
Not to mention, they're fun to work on and restore. With several Birchwood Casey refinishing kits (one stock refinishing kit and a Perma Blue kit) and a little love, I've found some real diamonds-in-the-rough. I have a few VERY nice $50 rifles... :-)
One thing that I found interesting was the 410's ability to load multiple rounds in it and fire it. That would be a decent capability in a survival situation. If all you had was that 410 and had those rounds with you, you could atleast challenge something within 20 yards, as in the video it was decently accurate at 25 with the cutshells. I love the torture tests, makes me feel good that I know guns are more durable than I thought.
I agree 100% that it is very helpful education. Also, a lot of the "gun idiot" videos on youtube are very helpful. I made my nephews watch as many as I could find and had them explain to me exactly which gun rules were broken. Much better to see these things on video than 1st hand.
Great advice. you can read about this in the Lee reloading manual. He talks about his experiments in working up loads and exceeding maximum loads. Sometimes when you exceed recommended powder loads the pressure may not increase. Read up.
People actually whine about blowing up a couple $100 guns? Wonder how they reacted to Australia and the UK crushing thousands of custom German made target rifles and vintage WWII weapons.
That was a tragedy, those beautiful SMLEs, makes me want to cry.

Libtards make me sick as can be.... Yuck
I have a buddy, who in 2018, still hunts with an Argentine mauser
Hahaha I love these guys, man that guy has an EPIC beard. I am in awe of the beard there sir. Very impressive

Hey Eric and Barry, just a note from the Desert Edge of Oregon and Idaho. I appreciate your common sense approach to weapons ownership and sensible use. Just watched Episode 26 again on Glocks. Still carry the SR1911 but now include the G26 as an EDC at times. Keep up the good work and thank you for your service.

I love the destructive tests. There's always something to be learned. I have a new respect for the 91/30 for sure.
This is a great recap on what the guns you've tested will handle, and why. Good work!
That said Thankyou guys for the videos and please keep them coming. I had a guy tell me my 2 3/4 pump shotgun was weak because he was shooting 3.5 mag and I think he actually thought a 2 3/4 was no longer effective

I hope these guys never quit making TH-cam videos!!
I always like the torture tests it shows just how well built some guns are.Great video guys.
I personally love these torture tests, as barry says "We are doing it to learn". Well I'm here to learn. you guys are my favorite gun related channel. Keep up the good work!
Look at Barry (RIP buddy), he looks like an old badass in this one, haha
Thanks guys. I appreciate you y'all's videos. I hope to make it to y'all's store on day.

Don’t you ever stop making these types of videos this is information you just can’t get anywhere
The amount of science you actually put into this when explaining why things happened is pretty awesome XD
My old no1 mark3* is nearly 100years old and still shoots 3inch groups, its no show winner but its light and handy and has great stopping power.

I like the torture tests. It's good info. Especially when you constantly hear people trashing some guns.
Agreed on the old beat up guns.. the more beat up then are you know they worked well for a long time, and they can easily be fixed up etc.
Honestly you guys can do whatever you want. I'm just here to watch
We have a Remington Model 12C. Over 100 years old and still spits 22lr like it was made yesterday. Of course, that's only because we replaced the ejector pin and spring. Still love the rifle, though.
I could listen for hours if u guys had a radio show or podcast!
I have learned a lot from your videos. Both of you are very knowledgeable
You're video quality has improved greatly, your content is interesting as always.. keep it up guys :)
Can't wait! Huge fan.
I have a .45-70 and I made some hand loads with a full case of range trash and the heaviest bullet I could cast! Can't wait to see how they work!
Please do not stop blowing up guns, we all learn so much from what you do.
Barry is a boss! Got to love the man! :)
In statistics, this is known as 'destructive sampling.' Of all the methods, it is definitely the most fun!
Thanks for ALL of your educational videos. Keep up the good work!
A good example of a milsurp rifle that can have many hidden issues but usually looks good is the vz-52. Most of them will be covered in bed liner paint, but the stock will be full cracks. The bores in them may look good, but the hard to maintain gas system may be corroded to hell.
NOt just guns, but every product is subject to destructive testing.
So grateful! Concepts and looks don’t show what real world testing does! Your anderson videos are going to help me build out my Anderson. I wish every gun had a MELTDOWN!!
When I saw the title, I thought it might be a gripe about gun buy-backs and why guns are destroyed. Might be a good topic for the future.
Keep it up! I know your Mosin toture test made me a lot more confident in its robustness.
Just a thing about those Hakims, they're not made on German anything, they're Egyptian-made Ag/42 Ljungmans from Sweden! Love the show guys, keep it up!
/A Swedish infantryman.
Its your guns and your business,if others dont like it..too bad!I think your video's are unique and very informative!Keep up the good work guys...
it's a much higher pressure round and it beats the slide up more when it's fired...thats why they wear out faster
I still cried when you blew that mosint nagant up. My dream gun.
I agree 100% that it is very helpful education.
Also, a lot of the "gun idiot" videos on youtube are very helpful. I made my nephews watch as many as I could find and had them explain to me exactly which gun rules were broken.
Much better to see these things on video than 1st hand.
Love your videos. They are very informative and entertaining.
I would love to see some Before and After tests showing barrel condition and its effect on accuracy.
great video as always, thanx for the videos guys and all the info too
Great advice. you can read about this in the Lee reloading manual. He talks about his experiments in working up loads and exceeding maximum loads. Sometimes when you exceed recommended powder loads the pressure may not increase. Read up.
Enjoyed it, keep the tests coming.
