Love the look of the body shape. Wish Rickenbacker would make one with the 24 3/4" neck and a body slightly larger to match the neck more.

I never know what to say when Mr. Pierce does the GOTD. Sure he is a legend in the recording industry and technically we like the same style of music, but it's the way he plays it, he's just on a higher level involved with the song than I am. I love the way he nuances his way through a scale as if it was creating notes just for where his fingers are, it's hypnotic to watch and listen to. Anytime Mr. Lemmo needs a break I'd be equally enthralled listening along with Mr. Pierce's playing. Oh and that Rickenbacker is absolutely stunning, isn't it?

I’ve got one of these, a 2003 in black (JetGlo). Plays & sounds great. Very light too: 6lbs., 3oz. Loud & ringy acoustically. The pickup switching is different than you might expect: you get neck + middle, all three pickups, or bridge by itself. Nice to hear Tim demonstrate how the toasters handle gain (very well) in this piece too.

Wow... something really interesting happened to me while listening to this episode.
I wasn't really paying attention to what Tim was playing (I was concentrated on doing some other thing while listening), then I suddenly started singing Yesterday out loud.
Then I realised he's playing the song... I subconsciously heard the music and harmonized with it even though I wasn't paying any attention.

I have a 2007 Jetglo 350. One of my favorite guitars. You can get just about any tone you want out of it by messing with the pickup selection and the little blender knob. Love it. And Tim Pierce is pretty great, too.

The 325 takes a lot of getting used to. I never really liked mine and traded up for the 350. It’s a world of difference having the longer scale neck.

When I put light gauge strings on my 325, I was a little reticent to mess with a Dual truss rod, so I just tuned it up to A and ran it like that. I always thought that it would be keen to have a double neck using the different tunings. Anyway the 350 is a mighty cute guitar, and not so funny looking for a guy my size to play. Definitely pretty high on my list.

Just for the sake of clarity for any of you awesome folks who are watching this, but aren’t aware……
Tim himself was also unaware at the time of a fact about the electronics in those 325/350’s that for whatever reason, isn’t made more high-profile.
That fact is that the pickup positions in those guitars are not for one pickup at a time. The upper position of the selector gives you the neck & middle. The center position gives you all 3 at once. The down position gives you middle and bridge. With the factory config, you can NOT have the middle pickup out of the mix. However you CAN use the fifth knob to adjust the volume of the center pickup in relation to the other two. A common reversible mod is to change the fifth knob to a pull pot, setting it up so that if it’s in the down position, it removes the middle pickup from the circuit, effectively causing it to behave as a 2- pickup guitar. The “out” position on the pull pot returns it to functioning as it was wired at the factory.
I have both the 6- and 12-string models of that guitar and both have that mod and nothing else can approximate the particular tones of that model that I’m aware of.
Sorry to be so accidentally long-winded.

Though some people complain about the idiosyncrasies of the rics, and typecast it as a jangle box, a lot of that actually comes from the stupid rick purists.
The purists that whine if you don't play it clean, and they hate when people run rics through distortion, it's honestly ridiculous.

I don’t really think flats are needed on the modern Ricks. I could see part of the 60’s Rick players using them for comfort, which is entirely understandable on stage, but the flats tend to be bassier, but the vintage Ricks had the 0.0047u capacitor which gave them a more trebly sound which the flats compensated for. The modern Ricks don’t have that capacitor so the rounds quite frankly sound closer to the old sound in that respect.
