This is a very detailed video showing the process of taking overnight buses to Koh Samui. Answers to qustions that you might have, such as where to purchase the ticket, are all included in the video.
We took bus 999 from Sai Tai Mai. Bus 999 is called the government bus going to various destinations in Thailand. This one that's leaving to Koh Samui originates from Morchit (north of Bangkok), and then stopped at Sai Tai Mai (south of Bangkok) shortly to pick up the passengers.
Ticket price: 545 baht (USD 16.24) per person
Ferry price: 150 baht (USD 4.47) per person

Very nice journey, when everything is back to normal, then i am going back to thailand and go alsof travelling by bus to samui instead of using the airplane what i normaly do. My first trip from bangkok to samui was in 1988 by train and one year later the smal airport on samui opened. My last trip was in 2018, and i realy miss thailand a lot,i hope to go in june or juli. About 6 pm. But if you come straight from the airport without pre-booking the ticket, the chance is there might not be seats available.

You need to go to Bangkok northern bus terminal or southern bus terminal to catch it

@@zachariahs.1112 you will need to get to Thailand first. Once you’re in Bangkok, you can take buses or taxis to get there

@@Handle9878 yes, you can. Better to go there a day ahead to ensure there are tickets available. 7/11 also provides the service of purchasing these tickets, but the communication could be an issue.

@@Handle9878 yes. From Surat Thani town, you can go to the ferry companies’ office there and purchase joint van+ferry ticket, which will take you to Donsak pier then Samui
