The externally adjustable reg on the 250z is the tie breaker. it's the only way to go when it comes to tunning your gun. It's amazing that now day's you don't have to break the bank for a powerful, accurate pcp. I'm putting the 250z on my Christmas list.
I have the mac2 ,25 cal. Mine is getting 885 fps very accurate with aea 25.3 gr pellets. Great job with the video as you always do. Thank you for the information.
Hi, I have a Mac arms .25 and like it. I have a Barra .25 in camo on order. It’s pretty clear which one is most accurate, most power . I like the bottle around the barrel look. Hopefully Barra comes up with other stock options, the one you have ( no offense) but it looks cheap, which is to bad, considering how the gun Preformed. I’ll never understand why they don’t have a good , better, maybe even best stock option, and charge accordingly $$ , and if you want the less expensive one then great. I am with you too on the bolt action, it’s kinda retro and I like that. I have several that are side levers and that’s fine as well, personal preference. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk CV-63. Jan 1980 to July 1983. Air gunner for life. Just got my 250z today. Have not taken it out to the range yet. I am hoping it can out preform that $2000 FX DRS.
According to my budget these two aren’t in it. For years I was strictly a break barrel guy, especially the multi shot Gamo Swarms. However I decided to get into the PCP world about two years ago. I purchased the Umarex Origin and then the Gamo Arrow synthetic. This year I purchased the Beeman QB Chief 2 plus synthetic and the Gamo Arrow Classic. All were under 300 dollars and performed very well. So 450 dollars is out of my budget. However I enjoy watching videos about the high end air rifles like the FX M4 and Fx King and the Western air rifles that are automatic and semi automatic. Even though I can’t or don’t want to afford them but I can still enjoy air guns . I never paid more 300 dollars for an air rifle and that was after taxes were added.
@ Well in my backyard in confined area I usually shoot at 15 yards and I can stretch out to 20. Very accurate especially with H&N Hornets 16 grain. The Crosman heavy 19 grain and even the Crosman 14.3 grouped well at those distances. However I saw on videos about t Arrow Classic getting good results at 50 yards.
I just got a Beeman underlever (Model 1358), and seeing that Barra 250z has thrown a hankerin' on me! I love the styling and the groups it's shooting...good golly, Miss Molly! I have to get settled in with my Beeman before I go shopping again. Also, I have a standing appointment with some squirrels and groundhogs. If I do go shopping, it'll be for the Barra.
I had my MA2 .30 out today and for some strange reason I decided to give the hybrids another try and they were grouping right where my point of impact was with the JSB pellets. They weren’t as tight but they are absolutely fine for anything down to squirrels size my groups were all under 1.5 inches but not all random impacts like the first time these were all touching
Is the 250z regulated like ma2? I also think the ma2 "long" would been a closer comaprison. Both rifles are great looking tools and I think anyone wouls be happy with either as their first purchase in the airgun world but I am definitely part of the side lever preferwnce crowd.
My trigger came out of box set at like 14-15 ounces and that’s something I had to get used to the MA2 definitely has a light trigger the magazine can be better though and I wish it could either hold more air or more pressure. Also mine came maxed on the hammer spring and it was just barely making the 880 fps but now in the colder weather it’s getting about 850 so I wish they had left room to tune it a little hotter. Other than that mine has been pretty good. It will definitely take down medium game easily and mine is shooting sub moa with pellets at 50 yards just like they said so I won’t complain. The 250z looks like a really nice rifle as well
Does the DFCO grip fit the LCS? BTW I’m thinking the Barra maybe the best choice especially if using slugs. The MA2 long would have been a more even comparison being that they are 150 FPS or so apart in this shorter version of the MA2.
It was a long review so you might have missed it but I did say in the video. The macavity arms gets about three mags which is 30 shots per fill and the 250z is getting about four mags per fill which is 36 shots
I'm really liking your videos buddy they are really informative and cool to watch and I also love that you own the same EDGUN LESHYI 2 like me. Can you please do more videos with your Leshyi 2 I really like it when you do plus I would love to see more accuracy with it in 30 caliber with slugs out past a hundred yards a bit or even at a hundred. Thanks alot my friend il be waiting for them.
Using exploding pellets for a penetration test seems more gimmicky than informative. It doesn’t tell us anything about the rifles themselves. I would like to know what the difference is in muzzle energy. Aside from that, we all want to know about accuracy and how solid they are on quality control. I would rather spend more money if their quality control is crap.
Dude I appreciate that you're always watching the videos and making comments. So don't take this the wrong way but I did only use the exploding pellets for the 25-yard test because I wanted to see if either of them would blow the wood up anymore than the other. But I used regular 33.95 for all the other tests. And during the 50 yd shooting I included the crony data so that you could see what the power difference was between the two. I also shot extensive accuracy and went over in my opinion extensively the quality differences between the two. It was almost a 30 minute long video for crying out loud. I tried to include all of the important information
@@ShootingGearReviews you put out great information. Be mindful, spending too much time in the comments section is a guaranteed way to go nuts... We used to say " going postal" but somehow the USPS got that under control 😂😂😂😂
Love the exploding pellets and I'll take them wherever i can see them! There's a up and coming young buck airgun youtuber and he hunts sometimes with the exploding pellets, definitely a devistating round. Looks like you have to headshot game possum or bigger to get the complete effect but exploding pellets..when they work, they work!@@ShootingGearReviews
@@ShootingGearReviews yet one comes in a 30 cal and Imo that is what most should get instead of a 25 due to hunting laws in many states. I think having a small 22 like the Notos or something along with a good 30 covers the bases well.
I already decided I'm going to make my wife upset by getting this thing soon hahaha. That being said, would you be willing to opening the gun up and polishing the trigger parts to see if it would smooth things up a bit? I would be very very curious. Unfortunately I have to wait a while to get this. ❤❤❤
@ShootingGearReviews that's the point, there's been a slew of people freaking out over " he flagged the cameraman" on a lot of videos... Everyone knows the cameraman never dies anyway so idk what the fuss is about...
Have you checked out the 3d printed baffles from Terminador Industries that fit perfectly in the hollow "can" that comes with the ma2 rifle? i beleieve they are only $30. Buck-Rail makes a 3d printed moderators for $30 to $40 as well. I purchased one and am happy with the purchase on my flashpup.
They are both tunable and adjustable so you could get varying levels of energy out of either of them. But during the section of the video where I was shooting 50 yd I was also showing crony data so that you could see what they were doing power-wise with the stock settings. For this entire video I was using both rifles with their stock settings.

Agree on the stock options. Even 2 would be great a synthetic for the hunting in the woods and a wood for target, plinking, and showing off.
He,He, for a lot more you can get a FX DRS with the classical wooden stock. I love the looks, BUT
The camo stock is awesome. Tempting to buy even though I need smaller carbines.
Yes, I am aware of the DRS Classic, I have 2 , 500mm .22 and a 700mm .25 cal and they are beautiful rifles
Personally i think Air Venturi Avenger Bullpup 2 is the best budget option for $399.99. Absolute tac driver, and nice and compact.
That's a great option too! It's definitely one of the most popular budget choices for sure.
I was wondering if anyone else was under this opinion, I am wrestling with getting the .22 or .25 myself.
My Beeman Commander . 22 for under $300 was a bargain.

OMG, that 100 yards group from the Barra 😲
I love the conventional look of the Barra, very much like the FX DRS. When they bring it out with a classic wooden stock will get one
These new barras are awesome I got the .22 last week. And after one session I put up my well tuned and worked g2 .22 for sale no comparison

I mistyped, meat to say 25.3gr.
Excellent video brother! Two very good airguns!
When will the Barra be available?
It's available now on Prymid Air
Pyramydair has it, and Airgun Depot is now owned by Pyramyd.
Another great review! Does the bolt action feel as good as a lever to operate?
The lever looks so effortless imo.
Looked like he was having trouble cocking the bolt back.
Great review

Both are the same. It's a barrel length that makes a difference. Both are exactly the same insofar as performance. It's the barrel length.
Great vidio, I think I'm gonna get a 250z. I think its hard to beat for the price. I always look fwd to your videos.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
Barra is on roller blades with the innovation and precision, not to mention the awesome price point.
Was it Phil MaCavity ? Seaman Stains?
😂😂😂😂
Good review
I like both
Considering how many issues I’ve been hearing about the Macavitees I’d have to go with the barra as the Winner
What issues is the macavity having? I haven't seen any reviews that cover long term life of the MA2

I wish I could get my MA2 to do a little better with the slugs because they were punching through lumber from over 100 yards with the 50 grain
Beaver tail on the grip is what we call it in the UK
Beaver tail is the correct technical terminology...
Knowing what I now know, I should have bought the Mac arms. Issues with my brand new out of box 25 cal 250Z. No customer service at all from Barra.
Do you buy these guns through normal retailers or are they sent to you by manufacturers/distributors for evaluation?
It came from the normal stock at Airguns Of Arizona where I got it from.
You shoot great but what was up with that drum roll?
