  • Clint Gosch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, visited the Zenith Aircraft factory with his plans-built STOL CH 750 "Sky Jeep" light sport utility aircraft, powered by a 100-hp Continental O-200 engine. Clint built the aircraft from scratch (from just blueprints) over seven years.

    What a lovely job ! I particularly like the simplified fuselage without the extra windows, like a 701 on steroids.

    Seriously though, beautiful job Clint! Can't wait to see it person! And go flying with you.

      Hi Joe! Thanks for the great comments! You are welcome to fly with me anytime as long as I get a ride in yours! And maybe a few polishing tips

    Great job ! I built my CH701 from scratch it was alot of work too. I have been flying mine for 8 years and love it. Also had great support from Zenith.

    Firstly that bloke is a proper bloke...humble, engaging and very skilled. So much patience and precision. Secondly,the two other blokes are proper too. Nicely spoken and so accepting. Great to see a company embrace all of their customers no matter how they've gone about using their products!! So happy to see this awesomeness going on in the world!!!

      Thanks James! I've found building a plane and flying in general are both very humbling activities, the Zenith folks are without equal when it comes to patiently supporting their customers. Take care!

    I was fortunate to have worked with Clint for 3 1/2 years. He is one of the most amazing people I have ever met! Everything he does is with perfection!

    That thing is excellent. Clint, your straight answers about the cost of the build and what you accomplished regarding tools makes one take a humble look at their skill level. Thank you for your forthrightness. I must admit that I'm likely not equal to the task.

      Don't underestimate your abilities, I knew very little about sheet metal construction when I started this project, just make each part a little better than the previous and before you know it you'll be flying in your own aircraft!

    Not sure what is more impressive. The gorgeous work that went into this build or the support from Zenith on a scratch built aircraft. I commend both!

    Amazing workmanship but not sure why the leading edge slats can't be designed to deploy & retract with flaps to increase cruise speed. I owned a French MS Rallye 880b that automatically deployed and retracted leading edge slats, and that plane was designed in the 1950's. Maybe a question for Zenair?

    Nicely done. But didn't say the total amount spent. Great airplane.

    Light sport? I didn’t think any of the aircraft zenith sold were considered light sport? I actually called them and asked and they told me none of their aircraft fell into the light sport category

    • @RechargeableLithium
      @RechargeableLithium 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FAA outlines the requirements for light sport aircraft, and Zenith provides that info on their website. Their quote:
      "When built according to the design, the CH650, CH701 STOL, CH750 STOL and CH750 Cruzer are all categorized as Light Sport Aircraft and would be an excellent choice for any Sport Pilot."

      RechargeableLithium I’m just saying the lady who answered the phone told me none of their planes were lsa

    • @RechargeableLithium
      @RechargeableLithium 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tat2joeelliott I understand - that's why I gave you links. The confusion might have arisen because there are two general types of LSA - amateur built and 'special' - the S-LSA are factory built. Clearly, Zenith doesn't make S-SLA aircraft. LSA, though, is clearly do-able. Cheers
