As a Saints fan myself I think I can speak for most of the fan base when I say we’re not that daft. Not only saying you’d rather play in the championship but saying you want a league season to be a complete car crash is just stupid beyond words. The problem I have with people like this is that they seem to conveniently forget that the reason the championship was fun was because they were winning. Spend three or four years in the championship and they won’t be winning every week . instead, the team will be languishing in mid table if they’re lucky if not relegated to league one. this guy also seems to forget that the reason he had fun was because of the manager he now seemingly doesn’t like. It’s rare when I’m happy to gate keep but he’s not a fan.
Too many managers would rather put themselves forward into shop windows than adapt their team to fit their environment I am so happy and grateful that we have Nuno
I’m sorry, the guy isn’t a fan. Saying you like the championship and that you want your team to lose to get there are two different things. Saying you want a car crash season goes against the definition of a fan. And besides his logic is flawed. winning won’t happen if we stay in the championship. The money dries up. And then financial problems start and then relegation. if you’re lucky mid table and the occasional playoff run. but then again by this callers logic we couldn’t win the playoffs because that would be going to a better league.
I am a Leeds fan and I hated the last two seasons in the Prem. Last season I had more fun than those two years combined. Fans don't want to go down as such. What they want is to see their team win a few games and have some hope. The Premier league is so hard nowadays even the Bournemouths and the Fulhams have benches littered with players that would destroy the champo. We sold Adams and Sinisterra to Bournemouth. Summerville to W Ham and Gray to Spurs and they don't even get into the team. You need to leave the champo and spend a ton in order to hang on by your finger nails. Even teams like Brighton hung on for their lives for 3 seasons before they started to pick up. If we had gone up with Gray/summerville and Rutter we could, have just stayed in. But even if we get there now , we'd need 5-6 big transfers and a lot of luck.
There is a big division between the Premier league and the Championship in terms of the skill factor and pace. As a saints fan I knew we would struggle and like the caller and other people have commented on, the Championship is a great division. It is a far more entertaining league than the Premier league and the teams are all fairly even. The premier league is a bore, i.e players looking for fouls, feigning injury, time wasting, top teams staff and players intimidating the referees, poor refereeing VAR, and several top teams just dominate the league which is very predictable. If saints go down I will not mind. At least as a fan I can go back to enjoying watching my football in an entertaining league.
Real lol you can’t say someone isn’t real cause you disagree with their point When you’re getting hammered every week against competition that has a bigger budget, I can see why
It's the difference between fans of the clubs with a chance of winning the big trophies and fans of clubs that don't. As Luton Town fan, I loved last season. I would have loved it if we stayed up, but I wasn't disappointed that we got relegated. The Championship is brilliant. We get to win more! 😂😂😂
I think they will really struggle to stay up, there isn't enough quality. I don't actually want them to go down as I like the rivalry but I cannot see them surviving. Sorry Saints fans
Tbf the only teams to beat Ipswich so far are Liverpool and City. They looked the better team against Fulham, held off Brighton very well and forced a late equaliser against Saints… fair enough they’re still looking for that first win but they’re out of the relegation zone and look like they’ve got something about them every time I’ve watched them

100% hope Martin gets sacked.

What “fan” wants their own club to go down?

Talksport as usual does a great job of showing their callers how low they set the bar.

But you lost some great players by not going up, you would have signed some quality and had a chance

@@cherellegrant7439 agreed.
@@pmarsh3700 I hear that.
Benty, Andy and Crooky all predicted a saints home defeat vs Ipswich
And what about you jezzy what you predict
Andy and crooky are clueless
*clicks to watch video about Southampton
* has to sit through obligatory chat about a top-6 club first
No real fan would want their club relegated! Period!

It's good to rebuild your club new players owners.... 99% of time no but once in a while yes and villa is a great example of that

You're dumb. Go away.
@@LordHighnessyou gain nothing. You stay in the championship forever by your logic
Wolves won't go down. Too many good players and Prem experience. They shouldn't have sold Kilman but they will still pick up.
Interesting the Wolves fan saying O'Neil cannot respond in game with changes, a big frustration when he was at Bournemouth
But they have the best English goalkeeper 😂
I hope they go down as well. Firstly because they are a Tier 2 side, at best. Secondly because their fans will have to risk coming to Fratton!!!!
What, like the last time we risked going to Krapnottarf and won 0-4 😅 !
Portsmouth have to stay up themselves
You will be in league 1 muppet
These fans actually exist too
Wtf hes no fan its a pompy fan
Ryan needs to be found and filled in tbh. What a 🤡
Wolves going down with that squad? No chance.
I heard this so many times 😂 how old are you ? Does my head in that statement
What a whopper
This is hilarious. How embarrassing lol P.U.P
Say something, fish fingers?
Your clubs 2nd bottom of the championship…
Stoke City 😂

Small club.
No wins for the promoted teams in 15 games
They're absolutely rubbish
Massive gulf in class between newer promoted teams and prem teams.
No win for Everton, Palace or Wolves yet either It’s still very early days.
