Two “tricks” I use for if I miss a day or few days and need to trigger memories of what I did... 1) check your photos on your phone - I’m always taking screenshots of things or photos so I’ll remember things, then I delete them later and 2) text message convos!! Super helpful. I also try to jot daily notes in my notes app on my phone. Because I’m consistently about a month behind 😬 ha.
I've been journaling for over 30 years, (mostly boring just-text journaling, but also a lot of art journaling, and now I'm back in a journal where I add washi, paint, stickers etc.) and 2 tips I have are : 1. You don't have to share your pages. I know it seems that way on social media, but you don't have to. Your journal can be for your eyes only, so who cares if there's an 'ugly' page or whatever. 2. You don't have to journal every single day. I've skipped weeks, months even, before. You can do a little 'catch up' page with all the stuff that's happened, and just carry on from where you left of. Nobody's holding a gun to your head saying you have to journal every single day. It's nice to document your daily life, obviously, but if for whatever reason you can't, that's OK too.
Over the years. I have given a lot, junk books to my family, grandkids of different art books I made for friends. They tell me now that my books are given with love to them. They are a conversation book on coffee tables. Love your work.
I love this! I love watching TH-cam videos of a LOT of different styles. I kind of have my own, but I love to get ideas from the Journaling community. A Journal is very personal item for anyone and it is important for it to be your own! I also used to be paranoid that someone would read my deepest darkest thoughts. Now I don't care! If someone reads it, then they get what they get!! LOL. Thanks for sharing!

This was so thorough! I’ve been journaling for a while now and also watch beginner videos because I always learn something new or at the very least find a new tool or supply or even approach to journaling. The thing I wish I had known from the start is that: there is ALWAYS something to journal about! The mundane will at some point become fascinating to either you when you reread your journal a few years from now or someone reading it 50 years from now. But also the ugly pages....they happen....you can also go back and add to them though later or paste over them. There are no rules!

Some of my old journals look tragic, but I still love them because of all the memories I've put in them! (Also, spotted the Enter Shikari spread, amazing band!)

Great video as usual, I love journaling, mine are similar to yours but I use mine more of a scrapbook too, love taking photos so I put all my pics in my daily journal that wouldn’t make the photo album, this year I have done junk journals as my scrapbooks instead of 12x12 scrapbooks. Your pages all look so colourful and cheerful xx

What do you think of Lechtturn 1917 notebooks? I think they are gorgeous but some people say the paper quality is very poor, I don’t have anything to compare the quality with though 🥴🤷♀️
Hi Izzie - I used one once and absolutely hated it 🤣 The paper was rubbish: everything bled through and it was like tracing paper!! I think you can get much better, similar notebooks for a lot less because you're not paying for the brand. My favourite is the Agenzio from Paperchase. I do also quite like Moleskines if going for branded notebooks! Xxx
