So I did 5 stones thus far today and made a couple of mistakes. First, after cleaning underneath and making some chisel marks to help the cement grip, I flushed it out with water. Then I made up some mortar on the thin side, which would have been fine, but I put it on and there were puddles under the stone so my thin mix became super thin. The 2nd mistake was doing it at peak sun. Everything would heat up to 110 degrees in what seemed like minutes. The mixing try, the water in the hose, the stones. I did put damp towels over the stones. But that's why I only did 5 lol. I will check to see how they stuck, I can always do them over. Only 67 stones to go. Doing it myself really makes me realize how good you are at your craft, you make it look so easy.

Hi Das, I am sure you are doing fine, remember a regular hose and a scrub brush the next day usually will clean it up good, thanks mike

12:23 is exactly what I was asking about, thank you! Why didn't I think of a grinder to make a little room for the mortar. I numbered my stones, my first step is going to be putting together a stone jigsaw puzzle to find their spots. I took a picture before it was damaged with the numbers.

"The secret is clean water and a sponge". A question about this Mike. Do you use two buckets of water, one clean water and the other for rinsing your sponge, or do you use only one bucket of water which will become less clean each time you rinse the sponge?

    • @MikeHaduck
