@@drummersnare6276 Well if you listened to their snare tuning from years prior. Not too much snare response. They like to take out some of the guts. I know because I own 5 cadet snares. Seems they have left their snare guts alone this year and have more of a snare response. To each their own though…
Like in 2016, I think that this year the Cadets is going to have one of those super excellent drumlines that gets overlooked. 2016 was one of their best years. But, the Bluecoats won that year and other things were happening in Drum Corps. So, the Cadets were overshadowed.
Snare feature at 6:50 was pretty dope! The spaces with the backsticks/crossovers is pretty challenging to nail and it sounds good already. Great stuff!
I’m never been a fan of the Cadets, but I have to give them their props! This is best drum line I’ve seen for the Cadets since the 90’s. If the show has the same energy as the battery they should win it all this year!
I absolutely love the tone they are getting from the bass drums (less muffling?), but there doesnt seem to be much pitch difference between them. Top isnt high enough and bottom isnt thumping. Even visual there doesnt seem to be enough difference - looks like 1,2 & 3 are same size with different tunings? Interesting.
It's still mid-season, but I am hearing some dirt in there... and excessive ring from the snares and basses. Very different for Cadets, who usually have super dry tuning...
It really does, especially when paired with the rest of the corps. Muffling drums takes away the “annoying overtones” but makes the projection of the drums suffer greatly. For outdoor stuff, I never ever muffle anything. Muffling has its place, usually when you are close mic drums. Of course there are reasons you might muffle something some other time, but in my experience muffling only makes drums sound worse in a fully live no microphone setting.
The Drumline in particular their snare line, what that playing they execute very well, but unfortunately they're not playing anything that is difficult. The reason being they are no longer judged on drum execution their judge more on, Optics juggling, dancing and prancing oh, and by the English look cool, has absolutely nothing to do with drumming. These kids though they work hard and give them credit for that and what they are playing again it's well executed, but no substance. But that's where the activity is these days. DCI should no longer be used, it should be, MBI, marching band International. Call it what it really is. We no longer have real drum and bugle Corps. So my opinion they need to remove DCI, and start using, marching band International. Otherwise it is disinformation. By using DCI, you are boring people in and being deceitful Authority instead of tens competition think they're going to see your drum and bugle Corps competition. If somebody was away from the activity for several years if not several decades, and they came to a competition, they would be totally shocked and disappointed. They would tell their friend I thought you were taking me to a drum and bugle Corps competition, surprise surprise surprise. Believe me there is absolutely nothing wrong with marching bands they do a fantastic job, please just call it what it really is marching band International. Today is July 11th 2022
Who should compete in your new/old version of DCI then? I don’t think very many under 22 year olds want to march with 2 valve bugles that they’ve never played before, marching only straight lines and forms, blowing their ass off with no dynamics or blend, etc etc. the activity has gone in the direction the kids want it to go in. If the kids marching didn’t like it, they would march somewhere else or better yet, find a “real drum corps” to march with. As it is, this is the top of the activity, just like when you marched it was the top of the activity. I’m sure there are lots of things corps, and DCI as a whole, have done that fly in the face of tradition, but how else do you push the envelope and keep the kids interested? Like basketball, for instance. Maybe we should change the game just to go back in time when the 3 pointer didn’t exist, that way if I bring my grand-pappy to a game he doesn’t blow a fuse about the guy shooting from 30 feet away. Or football, let’s just get rid of the touchback and make the guys run into certain danger, that’s how my grandma remembers it. What about baseball, those dudes need to hit with the knob of the bat again, not the fat part. Today is July 14th, 2022.
@@bailoutgolf5754 dude. Just be happy it’s back! It was gone for like 3 years and you are complaining. Take your negative boomer energy elsewhere. They don’t need you at the shows if you are going to be like this.
Man that snare tuning is beautiful
Youre hearing it from below though

Really digging this… first cadets line i vibed with in a long time

that is a hard hitting line right there. cant wait to see this in SA
Fuck yes HB sounding crisp...inside foam ?! :0
splendid and wonderful
Interesting bass tuning
EAST COAST
Cadets are rockin this year, let's gooo
I love it when snarelines use clear scoops!
WOW, that is crazy good!
The Cadets percussion is the one things that hasn’t fallen off over the last 5 or so years
Thanks so much for capturing this :0
While I certainly have no bias against people of different heights, I always love the look of a snare line where all the drums are at the same height
Awesome!
Excellent!!!✌
7:08 WOOOOO
Theses Yamaha snares sound really good.

My guess would be that the top three bass sizes are 20, 22, and 24. I think it’s just a little harder to get higher tuning on these sizes.
They’re all the same size
Yeah I thought that was weird, it looks like there’s barely any size difference between them except for 5
9:04 jumpscare moment
They’re taking drums this year. There’s no way
9:06 got that yung Anderson grip
8:27 ! basses & etc
Got them 2020 beats 😂
Are they playing at high school? The buildings are so beautiful!
Badass, could do without the "whoo" on the snare break though lol
Is that bass line 4 24 inch drums and a 26?
3:50
Another drum book superior to the devils
you know it IS possible to compliment a group without bringing up the blue devils
Good line, bass tuning maybe not so much 😀

I get so mad when drums are dirty in early June, but they usually have it figured out by August. Life goes on...
@@rtripp25 Yes...Cadets usually will be clean in August. Demand is always high, and the high stick heights don't make cleaning any easier, for sure.
I can't tell if I like or don't like those ringy bass drums. By themselves, they make me wince, but I'll bet that tuning projects like a mofo.

Remove the audio and all drum lines look alike. Personally, I'm disappointed with the activity's direction and don't attend shows anymore.
