Back in 1961 I would hear this song on WAKY 790 AM radio in my hometown of Louisville , Kentucky and it was my favorite song that year. The bad part about it was that it was recorded in MONO and not STEREO ! Many thanks to the new technology techniques that allow us to hear old songs in glorious STEREO !
Remember, sometimes mono is the ticket. Because they did it right. Don't get me wrong, I love two channel stereo above all others, untill proven otherwise. I have been proven otherwise.
The CD store on Llandudno Pier was playing this the other day Only knew it as the theme from the UK sitcom Bottom, so of course had to ask the lady who kindly showed me it was ...
There was still that curtain of mystery back in your youth days, what comes to music. Where it's cool all the music and the knowledge is like super-available today with all the streaming apps and Shazam. It's great but I think something is lost as well. Also both DJ's and musician profession has changed a shit ton since they don't introduce people with cool new and unique music, but they play the already well-known music on demand.
@@jacob6657 As it did on the nice sound system in my car. I completely agree. My wife asked why it made me feel happy. I reminded her of the day of gogo boots, mini skirts , neon flowers and doing dances like the twist and the swim.
That song could have been used in American Graffitti as one of the background songs to a custom car cruising down Main Street. Even though it's an instrumental, I want to do for karaoke since it has three spoken words in it. Love it.
Was my favorite when I was in junior high. I bought the 45 RPM and I believe the tune on the flip side was called " The Night Before ". Good times. Would wait for it to play on KAKC 970 AM Tulsa There was no FM yet. Ha.
Cool Song!.. AND ..the only HIT song ..Where HALF THE BAND...Plays only four Notes! This song..makes You want to Get up and DANCE.. like Uma and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction!
The background music for the opening montage on the NBA on CBS in the mid 70’s. I can hear Brent Musburger narration. Then You’ll see the best in Basketball.
@@jacob6657 I didn't realize the vocal didn't come through on this video. Wayne Jackson the trumpet player steps to the mic a few times and sang "aww last night". My question was facetious because it was basically an instrumental. Thanks for posting. If you search TH-cam you will find a live performance where you can n see and hear Wayne's "vocal". 🙂
I would have agreed if it was "just" the studio recording but this audio is a stereo mix of the original mono recording and the whole point is to let people hear the stereo version while the "live" performance is just backing it up.
Reality check: this isn't the Mar-Keys. My uncle played sax with this group, and he is not here. The actual Mar-Keys backed up Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and other Stax recording artists. They recorded in Memphis in the early sixties - not the UK.
Thanks Darrell. The address at the end of the clip is just a web address where the clip was displayed. It doesn't have any meaning beyond that and not related to the clip or the band.
@@jacob6657 I'm with you, but since the address is a UK source the actual band shown may have been from the UK as well. As noted, the Mar-Keys were an African American group from Memphis, TN. Just trying to give my uncle and his guys their just due. Thanks for posting their music!

The Mighty 790 on your AM dial 🙂 This is a fantastic song
This song haunted me for 50 years until TH-cam enabled me to learn the NAME of it. DJs in the 60s played hit records without giving song titles. 😃👍
Thanks you Eugene. Now, you can enjoy listening to it in stereo.

Thanks very much. It sounds much better in stereo though.

I understand your meaning but the purpose of this clip was to present the stereo mix while the video is just a "decoration".
Mar-keys has relationship with Booker T. and the MGs? or is separate band, all studio musicians, allying for this one song only?

A little out of synch. Since the tenor player was soloing.
