  • Get ready for this savory pasta salad where you only need four ingredients: broccoli, bowtie pasta, chives, and Pepper Jack cheese. What makes this recipe extra special is that it serves broccoli in three ways: shaved into curls and ribbons, blanched, and lastly roasted. If I was there with you I would be cheering and cheering for this wonderful dish. You have hit on two of my most favorite things, Broccoli oven roasted, and bowtie pasta. THEN, you hit me in the head with chives to die for, in a quantity I can only dream of, all in one salad. No longer is the poor chive resigned to live sprinkled on top, as a simple garnish to foods, IT IS part of the meal. BRAVO .. I grow only a few items in my garden every year, and chives are a big part of that garden, along with oregano, and thyme, and sweet Italian basil, other people can keep all those odd varieties of basil, I have tried them, and my love is the Italian sweet basil. I would also like to try that filtered oil drizzled over the top of a Grilled boneless chicken thigh. As soon as it comes off the grill, put a little chive oil on the serving plate, chicken on top of the oil, sprinkle some course sea salt, and finally, drizzle the oil all over the top of the chicken. As you cut off a piece, the piece can be slathered through the chive oil on the end of your fork, before it finds its way into a waiting mouth. I might try experimenting with some seeds or nuts like pepita or toasted sunflower, maybe crushed pistachio, or roasted hazelnuts, crushed and sprinkled on top of the salad, once it is served into bowls or plates. You have inspired me and made me a happy fella. Cheers from Michigan USA.

Looks great! I'm thinking of using some crushed walnuts here too to add some protein and good fats to make it a complete meal nutritionally. Are there any other proteins you'd recommend? Maybe some crispy chickpeas?

Crispy chickpeas would be awesome, how would you prepare them? I would suggest you can also roast them with the broccoli - drained canned chickpeas tossed in the same oil as the broccoli should get golden instead of brown, stirred about halfway through the roasting.

I don't know if this is good idea, but in my head when I read your comments is too add tofu(double fried for extra crispiness) or some kind of meaty mushrooms like oyster mushrooms or other mushrooms that are thick, i don't really know the name of it but definitely thick and meaty..

I think, too, if you don't gobble it up in the first serving you'll need to add more dressing after it sits in the fridge.

Okay why in the world would you strain the chive oil AND THEN JUST PUT IT BACK IN? What a waste of time.
also @food52, you have good recipes and I know you want to compete with Munchies/Bon Appetit/etc, but this personality is not it. She made me uncomfortable the whole video and I love the idea of the recipe and will likely make it. How does your media person not see this? Come on, you can get better.
