  • I purchased the Vivosun 43 gallon outdoor composter to replace my random compost pile. I wanted to do a video on the assembly process since the instructions aren’t the most informative, and maybe it can show you some of the trickier parts of the assembly processes. Thanks for watching and look for a review once the compost starts breaking down.

    Great Video, thank you for sharing and the tips for assembly. Hope to see a review too on it later after you have had a chance to use it. The drum capacity seems very large, but want to see it in actual use and see if it still meets expectations.

    You blew by the toughest part of this assembly which is making sure the centerpiece stays in between all grooves with the last 2 panels.

    Just put this thing together and watched your video where you put in the middle divider. I hate that it doesn't fit in perfectly even when centered and in between the rails to keep it in place. There was always a gap wide enough for my fingers to go under no matter how I tried to place it. Also, there were arrows on one side of the divider that I tried to match up to the row of arrows inside the barrel but that didn't work either.

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me go look at mine and see if mine had a bad fit too. I remember it being flimsy awkward to install.

  • @redrobin96
    @redrobin96 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Currently assembling this. The instructions now tell you to go counterclockwise from the door to add panels.
    The divider has a small notch on edges plus an arrow. Seems like I should be lining up the arrow with something. The panels also have an arrow next to the slot for the divider. Should those arrows line up??

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  ปีที่แล้ว

      I rewatched my video to see if I could tell, but it seems I didn’t notice arrows on mine. I think it would be best to line up the arrows since that maybe the proper way to install it. Sorry I’m not much help with your question, but hopefully it still worked out for you!

    • @redrobin96
      @redrobin96 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ReelGreenLawn First, thanks for responding! Based on your video, the instructions were updated. Perhaps these arrows are new, too. I switched it back and forth, and neither way made more sense!! I'm not changing it now...got it loaded up composting! 🥚 🥬🍋🍅🍌🙃

    For the legs am i suppose to remove the bolt? That part kinda sped up so i am not sure. Do i remove and reattach or just remove?

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rewatched to see what you’re talking about, and I believe you are referring to attaching the bin to the top of the legs? If so, there’s a long bolt that goes through the bin mount and the top of the legs, then tighten up the nut. If that’s not what you’re talking about let me know.

    • @jameswiggle
      @jameswiggle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReelGreenLawn no, i mean when you connect the legs together. Did you have to remove a small metal piece? I notice mine has that in almost every leg but yours doesnt . I also have a different manual then yours mine is legs first then bin. I have a feeling i am not suppose to keep that metal object but just in case i kept it in a safe place

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha, mine has metal push pins that hold it together. They are somewhat spring loaded, and when aligned with the hole, snap in place. Similar to tent poles. No bolts taken off or fastened on my model.

    • @jameswiggle
      @jameswiggle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReelGreenLawn that's the correct terminology...push pins. I am not suppose to remove those? Mine had like a loop thingie. Wish the directions were more clear

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  ปีที่แล้ว

      That does sound a little different than mine, I wouldn’t remove them and i assume they need to line up for them to fasten. My legs only went together one way, and if I didn’t have it right, there weren’t holes to accept the pin, or each end having pins and no hole. That part was confusing in my instructions too I remember.

    Did the drill actually speed the process up? I’m worried about accidentally over tightening if I use the drill! Braden made it complicated and still got it done in a record setting time of an hour and 15 minutes! Most claim 2+ hours building the Vivosun Tumbler. Can’t be,I’ve I watched a video on how to build a plastic composter. 😆 Great video btw. 👍

    • @ReelGreenLawn

      I can’t remember if the drill did or not to be honest. I will say it would’ve been way easier to assemble with 2 people. Thanks for watching!

    I didn't have enough screws and nuts to finish assembling the barrel. I can always get a few more at the hardware store. It was hard to tell from your video what you were doing to attach the barrel to the stand. I'm not sure what hardware he needed for that.

    • @ReelGreenLawn
      @ReelGreenLawn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Elaine, I just used the two longer bolts provided in the kit. They each slide through the top of the barrel’s axle and the top of the stand, and the nut is attached underneath. The bolts are ~ 3” long, and I only had two of them provided in my kit.

    • @edw927
      @edw927 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReelGreenLawn At first I could only find one of the long bolts, but then found the other stuck under one of the flaps of the cardboard box. I never found a nut the side that I would have needed the little yellow plastic socket for, but it all went together well without it.
