Main complaint i see for the gts is transmission issues. They had a recall in them, but people are still having them fall in low mileage. Plus, the ones i keep seeing for sale have like 6-10 owners that throws up some red flags too.
Got a 2016 one. Place so far 500 miles in one week and it’s pretty good. One biggest flaw is it’s low and gets a lot to get use to the cars dimensions. Also the rear suspension makes a squeak over bumps that can be heard into the cabin. Ride quality is horrible, definitely not made for everyday City roads. Other than that, it’s actually the best sports car I’ve ever owned

I want a gts for my next car when I’m done with the cla45 but there’s something about the c63s I love 16-18’ is the raw sound. Imo I think they sound more rawer compared to every other model even comparing catless to catless
The big one is fuel efficiency. I am getting about 9 mpg total in my 2016 with barely any miles on it. Just picked it up two weeks ago, already have a leak in my driveway. I am anticipating bringing vaseline to the repair shop with me monday morning.
The problem with getting a c63 over this is in 5-10 years time c63 value will tank significantly more than the amg. So that money your saving at first isn't really worth it. Or u can just buy the amg gt used for like 80k lol
also as for gas yes it goes quick but I usually keep all my settings in Individual mode on race except for traction. In the city I get 15-17mpg on the highway I get 20/21. I have no clue what it would get in comfort tho

Cylinder sleeve scoring is a huge issue with the 4.0 biturbo. Once it starts, the cylinder and pistons destroy each other. You’d never know it by sound or drive ability. You see it in the oil filter, metal particles. Suspension issues are also common, at $6,000 a corner it can get frustrating. Like all MB products, they eat brakes as well. I owned a GT-R for a year on lease. One month in the shop under warranty to replace a fuel related issue, injection lines were developing vapor lock. I’d start and drive and when engine got to temp, if I shut it off it would start in a cripple mode. You’d be lucky to get to 50 mph. I turned it in and instead bought a C8 Z06. $70,000 less and twice the beast.
I’ve never heard of any of these issues you mentioned and I’ve been surrounded by the 4.0 engine for years on end. No suspension, engine, or fuel issues. I’ve had mine for 20,000 miles and don’t have these issues either. As for the brakes (normal steel brakes), I’m about to replace them for the first time, and that’s including heavy track days. They would’ve easily lasted to 30,000 miles without being replaced. Like all brands, some cars will have complications though. I think you just got unlucky with your GTR. C8 is a great car too
